The story in FFXIV starts a bit slow and the characters take some time to develop, but as soon as you get to the first expansion Heavensward, you'll notice a jump in quality. So if you find yourself bored, try to stick with it, because it's be worth it!

As you can play any class or job on a single character and switch between them whenever you want, you don't have to make any alternate characters to try out something new.
There's also no gender or race locked classes.

This game has a lot to offer: pvp, raiding, gathering, crafting, a photomode that some people spend hours with, you can buy an apartment or a house and furnish it to your hearts content,
there's the golden saucer where you can play minigames, there are a great amount of mounts and pets to collect, emotes to unlock and cool gear.
