Not worth even on sale, buggy and unintelligible.

Legendary, from any possible perspective.

Edit: Dimension of the Machine is EXTREMELY good.

An insanely well made, concise, and engaging metroidvania platformer. Fantastic game design. Beautiful art style. For the price, this is an absolute must play.

There were a few times I got lost, and one level in particular is easy to get lost in, but besides that, the game is extremely solid.

Regardless of any nostalgia for Jet Set Radio, this game is an incredibly fun platformer. The story is nothing crazy, but it is interesting and fun to experience. The gameplay is simple and satistying. Mastering the gameplay allows for fun long combos. Achievement hunting has been satisfying. Highly recommend, especially if you have that nostalgia for Jet Set Radio.

Edit after beating the game, 100% achievements, and getting all characters. Absolutely fantastic game overall, well worth the price just for how solid and fun the game is. Late game challenges are pretty difficult and rewarding, and test the players skills well. A final victory lap after the credits to wrap up achievements, characters, and collectibles is highly recommended to get more mileage if you want.

While this game is pretty difficult to get into, once it clicks, this game is a masterclass in immersive sim design. Plenty of ways to approach objectives, plenty of ways to improve your character, plenty of ways to game the system, plenty of ways to have fun. The story is confusing at first, but genuinely pretty clever when taken as a whole.

Higher difficulty and enemy spawn rates can get irritating, but it's easy to set to a mode you're comfortable with. I feel like the world/universe beg for more exploration, and that while the story is great for what it is, the world itself ends up feeling underdeveloped, faction intrigue feels meaningless, and you're left with a feeling that there is a whole epic of lore and stories in this world that are likely never going to be seen. Research is by far the most time consuming and confusing part of the game. If you want to get into late game character builds that need certain research items, do yourself a favor and look up a guide.

This game is a raw and unrefined take on immersive sims. It's RPG elements are great, if a little grindy and confusing. Overall, if on sale, or even if you're a fan of more esoteric immersive sim games, give this a go.

A beautiful game for a niche. More of a puzzle game at times than a walking simulator. Even if I was sometimes confused on where to go, it never took too long to find the way.In terms of Vaporwave and the early internet aesthetics, this game captures the identity of both of those so well. It hits the weird cynical tones and relaxing sound spaces that Vaporwave often does, while having a reverence and respect for the early internet, it's weird stories and personalities, and it's unorthodox style. To give a non-spoiler interpretation of the story, it's about what the early internet was and meant to people. The relationships that grew out of games and forums, the communities that would form and break apart, and the people who were able to express themselves freely. I don't want to say it's a period piece, since it is so tied to the more modern Vaporwave genre and aesthetic, but it sometimes goes into that space. My only real complaint is that the visual in the final level gave me a headache by the end, even though I did enjoy the rough look of it. I should warn that there are a lot of bugs, some that can permanently slow down your game until you reload, or get you stuck unable to progress. For this reason, save often. I lost about 10 minutes of progress at one point and it was annoying to get back up to that point, but I'm glad that I saw it through. It's a relatively short game, took be about 6.5 hours. If you like walking sim and puzzle games and like early internet and Vaporwave aesthetics, this game is great.

Before this game came out, I said this would be the final chance I'd give Sonic Team. The past 10 years of Sonic Team games have just not been good, and the hype surrounding this made me give this a shot. I played the day it came out, and beat it over the next 3 days, going for all the optional Memory Tokens, going for all the achievements, doing all the missions in the Cyberspace levels. After that experience, even though I had some fun, I cannot recommend this game to anyone except a Sonic Fan.

Pros:
-Some fun open world platforming puzzles and challenges
-Ian Flynn did a good job with the story
-A few of the cyberspace levels are fun and had some challenge to them
-Game looks pretty sometimes
-The story bosses are fantastic, even if they have a ton of quick time events, they are just really fun to experience, and the music is great.

Cons:
-Most collectibles have a very easy platforming sections for their collection
-World is bland and lifeless, it really does feel like a Unreal Engine 4 demo
-Environment pop in is extremely bad
-Most cyberspace levels are extremely easy to get 100% on
There's two notable cyberspace levels:
1-2 is very fun, challenging, and requires you to optimize your route.
3-6 is terrible and had extremely grating music.
-Fishing feels extremely under utilized, the lore dumps locked behind it are neat, but besides that it's a waste of time.
-Two of the most important upgrades you need to upgrade one by one with a 5 second animation between each upgrade, each has a max of 99 upgrades. This issue is already solved with the other 2 upgrades that automatically increase when talking to an NPC, but for some reason they did not apply that to the other two.
-The combat can be fun if you try to optimize killing stuff as fast as possible, but most world enemies are easy to take out.
-Some of the world bosses have incredibly annoying phases.
-The physics feel inconsistent, and are heavily affected by sliders in the option menu. One example is a boss that has projectiles on a rail you're on, and if you jump you don't carry momentum forward and instead slow to a horizontal stop which usually ends up getting you hit.

For the game that I thought was going to be Sonic Team's revival, I am just extremely disappointed. While I had fun and enjoyed the story, a lot of the game just felt unfinished, lifeless, and not challenging.

While I don't think I will ever buy another Sonic game from Sonic Team, I believe they can take this game as a foundation and make something truly unique. They clearly took a lot of inspiration from the likes of Breath of the Wild, and they could end up with something great if they spend more time on this formula. That being said, they need a heavy hand with polishing any game they make in the future.

Amazing JRPG, lots of side content, rich and engaging world that left me wanting a lot more from it. Combat is great, removes the little load screen going into a turn based battle for just you walking up and fighting stuff instantly, and the gambit system is fantastic.
