TLDR: If you're a fan of sandbox RPG's like Kenshi, Dwarf Fortress' adventure mode, or whatever sandbox RPG you can think of, this game is a must buy. While it does have a journal system with an actual quest line. Its not really required. You can really go and do whatever you want in this sci-fi world.

The game play is solid. Its a perfect blend of complexity and simplicity allowing anyone to pick this game up and learn how to play quickly, all while being wrapped up in a UI designed to fit its simple complexities almost perfectly.

Ease of access aside, the game is not forgiving in the slightest. Sure, its easy to play, but don't let that fool you. From what I've learned, the most basic looking encounters may be the deadliest. And the most harmless of animals may be gods in disguise if you don't look into them. Yes...I'm looking at you Giant Centipede that only knows 3 moves but blows me up even in a defensive melee stance because my build sucked.

Speaking of builds. Wow, just wow. The amount of customization you can have in this game is daunting at first, but quickly becomes an amazing playground to test new ways to play and to try a variety of strategies This is enhanced thanks to the inclusion of the mod kit and the steam workshop, customizing to your specific wants is endless. Not into modding? That's fine, the default classes and gear choices is plenty for anyone who just wants to get right into the game and play. I actually have 2 play-through's right now, one with a modded class and the other completely vanilla.

I also really love the way the games world works. While the map as a whole and all the major zones like towns have specified layouts. Every other zone is completely generated on save generation giving you a great amount of exploration and variety. (Now don't quote me here because I don't really revisit old dungeons but the very few times (like 2 times tops) I've had to go back they were the same so I'm 99% positive everything is generated on save creation)

The lore of the game and the npcs are also amazing. While I haven't read much lore yet, the few bits that I did read and the few ruins and towns i've been to always spark curiosity and cause me to get excited for more!

All in all, Caves of Qud is a solid Sandbox/ Roguelike RPG that feels like the sandbox RPG of your dreams. This game is worth every penny and I can't wait till payday to get the pets DLC

Writing a positive review to help boost the score because all the downvotes are just angry battlefield kids, or wierdos who still whine about Kernal level anti cheat.

The only legit downvotes are the aussies with account creation.

All in all, its a decent battlefield style game that works better in a beta form than the current version of 2042.

Was testing the waters to see if I liked the engine, sadly its way to buggy to even play with.

After going through a few tutorials and making a decent movement script I went to go make my character have the ability to shoot a gun... Followed a beginners tutorial and then when saving the projectiles script it decided to not only write in its own script, but decided to completely rewrite my players movement script....and save the whole project even though I only saved the projectiles scene... greaaat.

After trying to rewrite it and (shockingly) getting it to work I went to test the project but the entire engine crashed causing the files to become corrupt and cause me to loose the entire project (dont forget to backup everything kids....)

Engine seems cool since its tries to be a better/free unity, but good luck making anything in it without loosing progress to stability issues.

I need to write a more in depth review later but omfg... Anyone whos ever been into the story of destiny...this will make you cry. Not because its bad, but because this is the most beautiful ending. This... this ending was worth the 10 years of story, all the good and bad dlc's have been worth it with an ending like this. If you like destiny, you need this xpac.

Going to leave the original review at the bottom as a memory of when we as Helldivers beat our biggest threat.

Quick passage before our review:

Its crazy, I still cant believe it. We, the Helldivers won. Our biggest, toughest, and most divisive battle wasn't even in game. The biggest threat to super earth and our democracy wasn't an atomaton, not a bug infestation. No, the enemy was IRL. We, as the Helldivers beat Corporate overlords. We bet Sony!!!. Unfortuantely the fight for democracy is yet to be over IRL as we must continue to fight to free all of our brothers in the countries that have been locked out. We must free our fellow Helldivers. For democracy.

New Review:

While im not going in depth because I still have a sour taste in my mouth. I can recommend this game.

The game play is fresh, unique and fun. Giving you countless options to customize your loudout to however you like. With a unique mechanic that replaces score/kill streaks with manual input and cool downs giving you a fresh, fun challenge.

Guns feel great, enemies are amazing and tough. The War map is really fun to look at and with the help of the live game master the game always feels fresh and new.

This game also has the best monetization ive seen in a game to date. With premium currency easily earn able in game and a battle pass with no time limit. FOMO does not exist, you can earn everything in game for free with just a little time.

All in all, the games fun if you have freinds to play with. Its a unique and chaotic 4 player Co-op shooter that has plenty of content to keep you hooked for hours.

Original Review:

Devs decided to sell this game in countries where PSN is not available.

The devs are now forcing players to link a psn account or theyll lock you out. If you try to make a psn account in the counties it doesn’t support you will be immediately banned even with a vpn.

Its really unfortunate, this game was amazing. The battle-pass system was perfect and the game was really fun. But i cant support such a foul and greedy business move. If they never sold the game in the countries that block PSN this would have been a completely different review.

Quick TLDR: First, I am strictly a PvE player, but PvPvE players can still get basic game info from this review, just not when it comes to PvP. If your a fan of extraction shooters, milsims, or tactical shooters then this games is for you. But remember, this is Early Access so you will loose gear to bugs (not possibly, you 100% will loose gear to bugs). But as of hotfix 2 you are now able to manually wipe your character so you can get your gear back. Just give it a shot, Its 35 bucks so its not a bad deal.

Now the long review:

Pros:

Combat:
The gun play feels amazing. Ill get more into actual combat later but so far, the primary weapons feels heavy and powerful. Its really satisfying when sneaking around a building to see an NPC standing guard and dropping them with a well placed round to the head.

Going more into the combat here. The stealth is really nice, the NPC's do need some work because if you're in a building and engage the NPC's outside, most of the time they will just stand in a door way or just stand still like its Skyrim with max stealth, but if you're outside they can and will hunt you down until you escape the area or kill them all.

Going loud is also pretty damn fun when you have a group of people with you. Its really easy to get immersed into the firefight when people are calling out left and right while bullets fly past your head or fly through the walls/barricades next to you.

Loot:
The customization options for each weapon is also really nice. You can truly make the gun you want as long as you're willing to earn your way to it by finding or buying what you need (in game currency btw.).

The loot while being scarce is still always satisfying. As you explore your starter town, you'll find buildings that can have armor and weapon crates to give you something nice that you normally cant find. If you also just want normal loot, its not to rare. Meds, food, and water can easily be found by looking through buildings with some buildings obviously being better for specifics. Need food and water? Go to the gas station or restaurants. Need some meds? Go find some medical tents/buildings or a medical cabinet.

Also, the NPC's can easily prevent you from getting locked out from playing or needing to wipe your character. Every NPC will have some sort of gun and a high chance for ammo and a smaller vest to get you back up and running.

This review is already getting long so Im going to combine these last few categories together.

The map is extremely beautiful and vibrant with something new to look at and loot around every corner. The tasks start easily to help you learn but get more challenging over time and will also take you to new towns and POI's across the map. But, the best part about that is the PvE community is really kind and always willing to team up to help each other out. (Again, Im a PvE player so I cant say this is how it will be in PvPvE)

Alright now the Meh's. This are more personal opinions that I feel could be changed, but don't really ruin it.

The sidearms in this game really need a rework. The hit like nerf darts and have recoil worse than a full auto AK even when shooting an NPC in the head (with no armor) and taking your time for recoil to reset (It takes roughly 3-4 shots to the head for them to drop). Unfortunately its better to run from a fight than to use your pistol atm.

Sometimes the AI can be really Inconsistent. They can be really smart, just right, or gods. I cant tell you how many times Ive died to a random NPC because they got a lucky 360 flick to my face when I was sneaking behind them, But Ive also had equal situations where the enemy will miss multiple mags while I stand still..

The game also does a poor job at teaching you how to customize your weapon. You can have two of the exact same gun but sometimes certain attachments cant be removed but the same attachment on the other one can. (tbh I just gave up on that for now. I enjoy just picking up whatever I can find an using that.

Now for the negatives. Im going to be a broken record for some of these reason but thats because they are pretty big issues.

The first major issue is server stability. This game reminds me of star citizens infamous 30K crash. The server will just randomly crash and send everyone back to the main menu, and its not infrequent. At the time of this review, ive had the server crash on me at least 10 times, with several matchmaking issues forcing me to completely restart my game just to get back in.

Another major issue is how poorly optimized the game is. My current setup is 32Gb Ram, AMD 6600, and a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and after checking all of my parts in task manager, not a single part bottlenecks but I can barely keep a constant 80ish frames on low-medium mixed settings (god forbid I go to high). You need an absolute beast of a machine to get a decent frame rate on high-max settings.

And my last major issue is how you cannot loot bodies of dead players in PvE even if they have disconnected from the server. I really dont understand why this was even a thing because you can drop everything in this game manually giving items to players so it cant be an in game economy issue. To me, I feel like this is a major issue because if you're playing with friends and you crash, loosing your gear. Its gone, forever (unless you wipe and start all over). This is because when leaving and rejoin a server you've already been in, you're considered a completely new player, separate from your previous session pre crash. A great fix for this is to just put a loot timer on PC's.

So yea, all in all, Gray Zone Warefare is an amazing fresh take on the extraction shooter formula. Currently it just needs a bit more time to cook with patches and hotfixes. If I was to give this game a score out of 100, its an easy 75/100 with how it is now- Obvious issues with some questionable choices, but it can all be ironed out through this early access period.

TLDR: Software Inc. is a really weird game but extremely enjoyable to me. Coming from similar tycoon games like Mad Games Tycoon 2 and Game Dev Tycoon, I thought this game was going to be a breeze to learn since its a similar premise, you start as a tiny 1-2 person garage company, and over time you become a dame development conglomerate. I was sooo wrong, just understand that this game is extremely in depth and can get complex so if you're looking for a game dev styled game that doesn't get difficult go check out Game Dev Tycoon or Mad Games Tycoon.

Full Review:

Time for the long review. Here Ill talk about the Pros, Cons, and the Meh's to this game.

Pros:
The time system for this game feels really nice and unique, I love being able to customize each teams schedule in a way that gives me complete control of the business.

Speaking of the teams system. This is the best form of the teams mechanic I've seen in these games. Other than the schedule mechanic, teams are also able to be assigned specific projects, and unlike other Tycoon games ive played before, their are more teams than just Programmers, artists, music, ect. Pretty much every single step in the process has a specific team. 2D artists are different from 3D artists, Network Teams are not IT teams. They even have Security teams, IT specific teams, maintenance, and even cleaning. All are needed as they perform specific roles to get the job done. And its so satisfying being able to manage them.

Now, earlier I mentioned the fact that you can change schedules, the reason for this is because the games built in Day/Night cycle (every 24 hours in game equals a month passing in game) which actually has different occurring events depending on the time (Make sure you hire enough security to cover yourself as the robbers in this game are actually professional Payday stealth players and tend to take EVERYTHING YOU OWN (easily replaceable, but gets expensive after a while). I actually like this mechanic because it helps show that this game isnt just about making games or software, its about running the business too.

Now, another thing I love about this game is the building system. In other games, you get to chose from prebuilt maps that may or may not let you customize the walls withing also for the most part, you are stuck to one map unless the game has progression based maps like game dev tycoon. Software Inc. does none of this. The only similar mechanic is when you start out, you pick a starting map. But, you also have the option to make a custom map for you to start in if you choose. Once you grow big enough to purchase and own the property, you have the ability to make your own 4, walls! Also, as you grow you can purchase the plots that surround your land and either expand your office, or make new buildings if you chose (make sure to have adequate parking for your employees and that does include the bike racks!).

The development aspect of this game is really interesting. Unfortunately I havent gotten into physical production yet as my current play through is mainly contracted software with the occasional game (but those go to publishers so I don't really deal with conveyor lines or any of that. All I do atm is just purchase copies from the manufacturer if you're selling a physical product yourself). Development in this game seems extremely complex, but, this game is not hard at all. The basic loop is:

Grab contract or decide on what software you want to make yourself, assign the teams that will be working on said project, review your work to make sure its at least ok quality, fully develop it. If its actual software make sure to keep it in beta as long as possible to aid with bug fixing. Then the last step is either submit it back to the company you were hired by, or release it if its your own. And that's it! Now, It can get more complex than that with marketing, support, bugfixing ect. But by the time you can afford to do that you should be familiar enough with the game.

Now, theirs so much I can talk about but since I dont want to keep you here forever Ill move onto the Meh's

So, the only real meh I have about this game is the graphics (which aren't important) and how fluid the game feels at times. Sometimes the game's base building can feel very clunky. Sometimes when im trying to place objects in rooms or on the walls it will auto clip to the wrong rooms or the wrong side completely. It is annoying, but can be easily looked past and fixed.

Now as stated theirs not many Mehs, and that's really the same with the cons.

The only thing I absolutely do not like about this game is the over complex tutorial. I get that this game has a LOOT of in depth mechanics and systems, however I felt more confused when trying to learn this game via its tutorial than just experimenting with the game itself. The only thing the tutorial taught right was the teams system and how you can assign specific furniture to specific teams, employees. Other than that, the game over complicates itself extremely.

Its actually the reason why I've refunded this game in the past before re-buying it! The tutorial literally scared me away!

So, You made it this far into the review, so here's who i think should play it. If you are into deep and complex tycoon/management games then this is a great game for you. But if you're either new to the genre or just looking for a fun/simplistic game to sit down and enjoy, then i recommend staying away from this game until you are comfortable with the genre or looking for a new challenge.
