If what you're looking for is extra-fluffy yuri visual novel goodness with a side of drama, then is this the VN for you. Kindred Spirits on the Roof, also known as Okujou no Yurirei-san, is an excellently written, as well as translated, visual novel with great character development and a satisfying payoff in the ending, that I would personally highly recommend.

First off, the story is pretty good. The base premise is fairly interesting and creates a whole slew of pretty hilarious and also lots of really sweet moments when reading, what with the protagonist, Toomi Yuna, being the 'yuri cupid' of the story. The drama that occurs between the characters is definitely one of the strong points of the VN, and the occasional friction between the cast members makes you really feel for them. Conflicts between the characters and their resolutions are all very reasonable, and god they are seriously well-written.

The characters, their development, and their writing are for sure the best aspect of KSotR, at least in my opinion. Every single main couple has their own unique little chemistry going on, and the dialogue is super fun to read, not to mention fluffy. This being a fairly long visual novel, taking me over 40 hours to finish the main story and all the extra scenes, allows the characters to develop at a natural pace, and it's really nice to see the interactions between specific characters changing over time. As a high schooler myself, some these characters are also reaaaally relatable. Especially Futano Sasa.

As for the art and sound, the artstyle for the VN fits perfectly, and the CGs look awesome. The illustrations in this VN are really good at expressing the characters' personalities, the character designs are great(ly cute), and the background art's nice as well, the BGs do a great job at setting the scene. Speaking of which, the music in Kindred Spirits also does a great job at setting the mood of the scene. The soundtrack only includes 15 different tracks, but that's not really a bad thing. They really grow on you, and they're one of the reasons why the slice of life type scenes in this game are so relaxing. The music is cute and fitting as well.

TL;DR, the writing for the story and characters are really good. You get ultra-fluffy yuri romance and intense yuri drama, a lot of the dialogue is absolutely hilarious too, and really, every character has a ton of depth to them. The art is great and so is the music, and really, if you're a VN person or like yuri, I'd definitely recommend this game. Thanks for reading this review, by the way. Have great day!
