This game is definitely more of an art piece than a game, which is not a bad thing if that's what you're into. Does a decent job of "show, don't tell" although the message isn't particularly subtle.

The art style is really well done and the music fits perfectly to really set the mood. The gameplay is basically you riding along on a landship that requires management of resources, repairs, etc, and solving puzzles.
Nothing particularly difficult.

The game is rather short. Most people finish it in 2 to 4 hours. However short does not mean bad. It's a quality experience bit idk if it's worth it at full price. If the game goes on sale I'd say it's a solid buy. I will definitely be playing the sequel in the future.

Solid game, balls to the wall, classic FPS stuff. Sound design and soundtrack are 10/10. Game itself is 7/10. Felt like a slight down grade from the masterpiece that was doom 2016. Biggest complaint is probably the gimmick enemies/bosses that arent particularly satisfying to fight or beat. Slightly more platforming than I personally care for in an FPS but its admittedly pretty well done and not very punishing. Other than that, the guns feel great, all the abilities and tools are useful, decently paced upgrade system for weapons and suit perks. Its a fun ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game where you shoot ♥♥♥♥ up and play as the badass Doomslayer while listening to the bangers Mick Gordon cooked up for the game that are perfectly woven into the action. Play it, youll enjoy it

Do cool ♥♥♥♥, hack and slash the ♥♥♥♥ out of enemies. High skill ceiling, high replay value, solid graphics, fun gameplay.

First DMC game I ever played. Loved every bit of it. It's just the right amount of self aware edginess and rule-of-cool antics.

The concept was pretty cool, seemed like good bioshock/system shock type of vibes. I really wanted to like this game.

Unfortunately I had to give up after making it a decent way through. Realized I wasn't really enjoying the game and was forcing myself to play more than anything. The "survival horror" elements of inventory management and scarce resources really only made the game feel tedious. The enemies do way too much damage and are just straight up bullet sponges which is a pain because both ammo and healing resources aren't exactly plentiful. The stealth mechanics don't work that well which blows because you're already heavily discouraged (arguably downright penalized) for even engaging with enemies at all. The fact that enemies respawn only compounds these issues.

The skill tree felt like half of the skills are just there to suck up neuromods for prerequisite skills more than they're there to actually benefit you.

It was kinda like playing bioshock except you barely have enough resources to even use your abilities and weapons and the enemies took an exorbitant amount of resources to put down.

It doesn't add anything to the game other than unnecessary frustration and tedium since you're expected to comb every last room for junk to recycle and pray you get enough to stock up your guns to take out like 5 enemies that are going to respawn anyway.

Anyways, nothing I'm saying is particularly new based on what other reviewers have said that echo my sentiments. I'm glad their are people out there who enjoy the game, it just isn't for me. Maybe I'll pick it up in a few years and change my mind.

Honestly I wish I could give a neutral review because I didn't hate the game, it just isn't my cup of tea.

I went into this game expecting something very goofy and stylized, and came out pretty impressed by the fairly complex political plot and interesting, memorable characters. The game does a good job of tightrope walking the balance of seriousness and over the top campy stuff and is entertaining without being eyerolling. Combat is pretty basic and you can pretty much just mash your way through the game since theres a few moves/combos the AI seems to have a hard time dealing with. The only gripe I have is that you can only save manually at telephone booths and there are no checkpoints in missions, some of which are extremely long.

Overall I would highly recommend this game as I enjoyed it the whole way through and now am looking forward to playing other games in the Yakuza series. It has its flaws but it more than makes up for it with an engaging story

This game is an absolute masterpiece. Really there isnt too much else to say because this game is phenomenal from start to finish. The DLC is fantastic and contains probably my favorite boss fight in the series. Gorgeous, great combat, well designed areas, awesome boss fights. Its peak Dark Souls imo.

10/10 youre missing out if you dont play this game

Sekiro was my first fromsoft game and it had me hooked almost instantly. Game is absolutely gorgeous, the combat system is probably the best of any game I've ever played, the bosses are phenomenal, the attention to detail is next level, the story is engaging and mysterious in that patented fromsoft way, the areas are all unique and works of art, the momentum this game builds as you go along reaching a crescendo in what is probably one of the toughest, but most badass final boss fight ever. Seriously I couldn't give Sekiro more praise. 10/10 masterpiece.

That said, the game makes you earn it. There is no amount of level grinding that you can do to trivialize a boss. There are no gear sets to collect and upgrade to make yourself do more damage or take less damage. You get your sword, your shinobi tools, a handful of items, and a large serving of git gud. The skill curve in this game is steep and even minibosses can often kill you in two hits even with fully upgraded health. Simply put, youre gonna have to engage with the combat system and learn how to deflect and learn the back and forth of the combat. Almost every boss is a skill check of some sort but its so rewarding to finally earn that W.

Anyways, definitely recommend this game, especially to people looking for a challenge

UPDATED REVIEW AS OF 3/12/22

So in my initial playthrough I encountered a gamebreaking bug (details below) and had to completely restart. Only way to get rid of the bug was to manually delete save information and start over. After restarting I did not encounter the bug again and was able to complete the game although I backed up my save regularly just in case the bug reappeared.

So this game is overall pretty fantastic. The art direction really ages super well especially with a 4k remaster and just oozes that mystery the series is known for. The areas are the real highlight of the game imo and its absolutely genius how interconnected the game is. Even though bonfire warping isn't available until later in the game and its quite limited, it is pretty easy to get around. The variety of armors, weapons, magicks, and so forth allows for a very flexible approach to playstyle. You really can play the game any way you want. Personally I went for a strength build and found it very rewarding (ultra greatswords ftw). Combat isn't particularly difficult as long as you're patient and don't overextend. Most of my deaths were from getting greedy or falling off cliffs.

Boss fights are okay. The designs are really cool aesthetically but most weren't particularly challenging (especially coming from Sekiro) and you could pretty much circle strafe and spam R1 to win. The DLC bossfights are probably the highlight for me with Artorius being my favorite and Manus being the most challenging. By the time I got to the final boss of the game I was able to just facetank and dunk on him ezpz.

Overall the game was a great experience and I am going to change my review to a positive one since there is no mixed review and a gamebreaking bug took this game from being a 9 out of 10 to a 6 or 7 out of 10 at best which is something I just can't ignore. Instead I will leave my initial review up as a warning to other people.

BELOW IS INITIAL REVIEW AFTER 30 HOURS GAMEPLAY (2/26/22) AND ENCOUNTERING GAMEBREAKING BUG. I STILL STAND BY EVERYTHING I SAID.

It honestly pains me to give this game a negative review but I encountered a gamebreaking bug where out of nowhere my bonfires were unlit and unkindled, I was unable to go hollow, and despite possessing the lord vessel, I was unable to advance the questline with kaath which is vital to finishing the game. Kaath would just act like I didnt have the Lordvessel in my inventory. Not very happy with having 30ish hours of gaming go down the drain due to an unfixable bug. Online it seems others have encountered a similar bug that also infects new characters and is only resolved by manually deleting character data from game files.

How close I came to beating the game before it broke really was unfortunate because it completely soiled what was an otherwise phenomenal experience up to that point. I hope this bug can be addressed in the future so that I can maybe come back at some point but honestly its pretty inexcusable to have such a gamebreaking bug in a 4 year old remaster of an 11 year old game.
