It's 2023 and Vampire Survivors is still phenomenal and continues to put out content. Worth every last penny and perfect for steamdeck

30 USD, literally drops out of nowhere because its awesome and doesn't need a triple A hype machine to sell, actually fun game, anime af and over the top in the best way, dope art style, likable protagonist, actually funny humor, written by competent people who couldn't be replaced by an AI, dope ass rhythm based combat similar to DMC, rad soundtrack, smooth performance.

Be a Chad, buy this game

This game is basically a beautiful, interactive art piece about grief/depression.

People don't think anxiety be like it is, but it do

I was admittedly a little tentative about this game because I'm not exactly a fan of stealth games and I find having to redo 10+ minute sections of tedious stealth over and over to be frustrating more than anything. However this game was not bad at all, the checkpoints are extremely generous, and it plays out more like a puzzle for dealing with guards and rats than a pure stealth game. Its honestly a bit of a mix of survival horror and stealth. Overall I found the gameplay to be enjoyable and add to the tension and immersion of a medieval setting with black plague (obviously) and inquisition/catholic horror themes which is something I personally enjoy a lot.

It's a bit short at 10ish hours long but I think the length is perfect and it doesn't overstay its welcome. The graphics and art design is gorgeous although I think the faces are a little rough. Performance is actually pretty good and even the large hordes of rats dont really cause performance hits. On a 5700 I was averaging a solid 90fps at 1440p with all settings at high.

The characters are interesting, the setting is grim, and the mystery unfolds very naturally through the course of the story, often through dialogue you hear as you sneak around. Lots of interesting occult and alchemy elements baked in as well. Boss fights are kinda rough (athough passable) but that is pretty standard for stealth focused games since they arent really built for combat. The whole game is very much a cinematic experience so if you aren't into games as a medium for that kind of thing then it might not be your cup of tea.

Tbh I was pretty skeptical of this game since I havent really played much of the Final Fantasy series outside of some of the old DS games. My buddy bought me FF7R and insisted that I would enjoy it. Well he was one hundred percent right. Now I obviously never played the old one so I do not have any real attachments to the old game or story and am essentially viewing this game with completely fresh eyes. I know some things about the story have changed but its mostly of no consequence to me.

Despite my tentativeness I found myself quickly engaged with the story's narrative and the characters which are admittedly very trope heavy. The game really goes all over the place from serious, to light-hearted, to dark, to zany, with a healthy dose of being anime as ♥♥♥♥ in a good way. The voice acting is all pretty well done despite some clunky dialogue with Barrett being my personal favorite character.

The story is basically all about Avalance, and eco-terrorist group who probably all carry pocket copies of Industrial Society and Its Future, going up against the evil mega-corp Shinra who is killing the planet. The main character Cloud is an edgy emoboi merc who ends up tangled up in the Shinra conflict with Barrett, Tifa, and Aerith while he chases after the BBEG Sephiroth.

This game is downright gorgeous although it suffers from typical stutter issues that could easily be corrected by allowing us to precompile shaders. The combat is interesting and harkens back to the JRPG roots in a way that feels good. Lots of over-the-top boss fights as is typical of the genre. The soundtrack is probably the real standout of the game as every last song and track is just phenomenal and really blew me away. The story is pretty entertaining and keeps you sucked into the mystery and tension of the narrative. Quite a few emotional moments which is always a plus for me.

Overall Im glad I played it and cant wait for the next installment of the game to see what happens next. Its probably a 9/10 game but due to some pretty awful stutter, I have to give it an 8/10.

Its not often that you get to play as the antagonist in a game. Senator Armstrong is the GOAT and the real hero of MGR:R.

Only complaint is that I wish there was an option to side with Senator Armstrong because dude is based as ♥♥♥♥.

So I really wanted to like this game. I thought the concept was clever, art was nice, works on steamdeck, and metroidvanias are my thing too. But the controls are kinda clunky, the puzzles aren't particularly interesting, and after the first few areas the game got stale for me and I put it down out of boredom.

I don't think it's a particularly bad game but it just didn't do it for me. If I could I would probably give this game a neutral review but I can't personally recommend it.

This game is an absolute masterpiece and a deep, rewarding, and emotional journey from start to finish.

Combat is well done and satisfying. They did a great job making you FEEL like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ghost of Sparta. The port is also phenomenal and deserves more recognition for standing out in a sea of lazy, half assed console ports. 10/10 game

This game is a decade old at this point, was mediocre at best in the first place, and now they're adding EOS (aka CCP spyware) to the game for some stupid reason.

If you aren't already unfortunate enough to own this game, then do not, under any circumstances waste your money. Avoid this dumpster fire
