Despite the current "very positive" reviews on Steam, I'd like to remember you all the absolute dumpster that was this game at launch and for years after, as some seem to be a bit too quick to go back to licking the boots of their favorite corpo overlords. The many promises that CDPR failed to deliver on and how they mislead their customers. Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the features we were told to expect but were missing or poorly implemented, some even to date:

- AI Systems: We were promised an amazing AI that would govern NPCs' daily lives and combat behaviors. Instead, we have simplistic and often broken AI that fails to live up to the hype.

- Wanted System and Corrupt Police: The game's wanted system is basic, with the police often spawning out of nowhere, lacking the depth of a corrupt police force or varying law enforcement reactions based on the crime location.

- Combat and Hacking: While some combat and hacking features exist, the promised depth and variety, like hacking with the nanowire or uploading complex viruses, are sorely missing. The system quickly becomes repetitive.

- Immersion and World Interactivity: Key immersive features such as a meaningful trauma team, flying AVs, targeted ads, and a dynamic marketplace are absent. These omissions significantly detract from the world-building that was promised.

- Strong RPG Elements: CDPR claimed, just four months before release, that Cyberpunk 2077 would be a much deeper roleplaying experience than The Witcher 3. However, the game lacks strong RPG elements, such as meaningful skill checks, complex companions, and impactful faction dynamics. What we have is more of a shooter/looter with stats rather than a deep role-playing experience. It's telling that the game was reclassified as an "open-world, action-adventure story" on their official page right before release, which feels scummy and misleading.

- NPC Routines and AI: The promised unique daily routines for NPCs are nowhere to be found, making the world feel static and lifeless.

- Quest Relevance and Decisions: Quest decisions were supposed to have a significant impact on the world, but this feature is barely noticeable in the final game.

- Day and Night Cycle: The day and night cycle is mostly cosmetic and doesn't influence gameplay in any meaningful way. Venues are always open, and there's no noticeable change in danger levels at night.

- Character Customization: Despite the hype, the character customization is underwhelming and lacks the promised depth during creation and in-game.

- Drone Usage: Drones were supposed to play a significant role in the game, but they are limited to just a few missions.

- Lifepaths and Non-linear Quests: Lifepaths barely impact the storyline, leading to a linear quest design that contradicts the non-linear experience that was advertised.

- Special Abilities: Nanowire and gorilla arms were supposed to have multiple uses, yet their functionality is very limited in the actual game.

- Performance: On Last-gen Consoles the game ran poorly, contradicting CDPR's claims that it would run smoothly. Was also bad on PC, but i guess at least they never said it would run well on PC? LOL

- Release Readiness: CDPR claimed the game would launch "when it's ready," but the state of the game at release proved otherwise.

- Braindance Variety: The braindance mechanic is underutilized and far less interactive than what was implied.

- Challenging Weather System: Promises of a weather system that impacts gameplay, like acid rain, were not fulfilled.

- Romance and Relationship Options: The romance options are minimal and do not reflect the deep relationships that were promised.

- Game Completion without Main Quest: It’s not possible to finish the game through side quests alone, contrary to what was claimed.

- Gender and Body Customization: The freedom to mix and match voice, gender, and body type is less flexible than promised.

- Polished Experience: The game was far from polished at launch, filled with bugs and performance issues.

- Weapon Customization: Weapon customization is limited, despite promises of extensive options.

- NPC Reactions to Styles: The promised NPC reactions to the player’s style choices are almost nonexistent.

- Features that were transparently removed during development include property customization, a transportation system, wall running, vehicle customization, and voice customization beyond gender choice.

Remember that launch! While some of these issues have been fixed, we should never forget what CDPR did. They misled and disappointed millions of players. We should learn from this experience and hold these greedy corporations accountable for their promises.
