Yeah low playtime, I played more than 100 hours on PS5 and Series X, each. Just wrote a quick review here!~ :D

Guilty Gear Strive is one of the best fighting games out there, and it pushes the boundaries of the genre. The visuals are beautiful thanks to the cel-shaded graphics and the soundtrack has a lot of soul, with songs not only pumping you for battle but also featuring deep philosophical themes that reflect on the complexity of life.

For example, Potemkin's theme, Armor-clad Faith, speaks about how he has given his life to reform society, yet he feels as though what he has done had no effect. But though he may not see the fruits of his labor, the future generations might. So he has to have faith that one day, what he's done will create change.

Do you smell that? It smells like (SMELL OF THE GAME!) it smells like a super good game!~

The gameplay of the game is deep, yet accessible enough for newcomers to get into it, making it an easy-to-play game but incredibly hard to master when it comes to the advanced techniques. Some characters are simple, and others such as Happy Chaos are complex but rewarding to learn. The game counts with a rollback netcode, which ensures smooth lag-free matches.

✔️Rollback netcode for good online
✔️Easy to get into, hard to master, rewards time invested in learning it.
✔️Visually and Audially impressive, with amazing graphics and soundtrack.
✔️Each character has a particular fighting style and complexity, featuring a diverse cast.

❌Story mode is relatively short and lacking
❌Missing mechanics from previous entries that veterans might miss.

Overall, Strive is an excellent game that shines in all of its elements, to the point the community has regarded it as a "magnificent soundtrack with a free game included". If you are looking to get into fighting games, Strive is a fantastic choice that will deliver quality, as well as enjoyable thrills in its battles. Plus with Queen Dizzy being available soon, there is not a better time to jump in than right now!

A fun and relaxing simulator that shows how it feels to run a card ship. The game has a slow burn to it but is an enjoyable experience as you manage the shop and open cards trying to get a 12000$ foil. The customers are fun because they are ravenous for the card boxes or complain about you raising the price of a card pack by 0.33 cents! You get hooked on it as you upgrade and optimize your shop!

✔️Authentic card collecting where you search for rare and valuable cards.

✔️Strategic management as you pay rent, balance inventory, push prices, and satisfy customers.

✔️The developer has a road-map that will include organizing tournaments, playing the TCG, grading cards, and more!

❌Lack of options to customize your shop in terms of decor and layout.

❌Slow burn with tedious segments at times.

A must-play for anyone who wants to know how it feels to run a card shop and enthusiasts of TCG. A simulator that captures the excitement of opening packs and developing your store!

Romancing SaGa 2: A Deep Dive into a Strategic RPG Review

Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of The Seven is the remake of a classic that brings back Saga 2 now modernize for new audiences. The game offers a lot of depth thanks to its inheritance system, which allows Emperors from different eras to pass down their skills to the new generations, with the goal of defeating the Seven Heroes, a powerful group that threatens the Empire. The game starts with Emperor Leon, who is teaching his son Gerard how to protect the Empire and become stronger when the Hero Kzinssie decides to set his eyes on taking the Empire under his control.

That premise is what makes Revenge of The Seven so unique as a JRPG, if the Emperor falls in battle, they will be lost and a new Emperor will be chosen, but passing down their skills allows them to dodge the most dangerous attacks of the heroes and become stronger. From being instantly killed, to mind-controlled or overwhelmed by sheer force, you must cultivate your Empire and defeat the Seven!

What Makes It Worth Playing?

Revenge of The Seven might not be graphically impressive, but the art direction along with the voice acting in English and the lore makes the world truly come alive on the screen. Every location matters, and the game gives you the freedom to tackle the Heroes in any order as well as choose what territories to acquire first. Because of that freedom in the choice of how you play the game, it makes every playthrough special as your decisions shape the world in a branching storyline.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355837597

The story is pretty good, as you can discover the reasons why the Seven Heroes are so bent on destroying the Empire, and the side quests are sort of mandatory in a way, as doing them will reward you with new classes, areas, and open up your choices for new Emperors to come, both in terms of their race and their class. It is a challenging game as well, so if you want an immersive JRPG that offers some serious obstacles, you might be interested.

A JRPG with many faces
In addition to being one of a kind and obscure, Revenge of The Seven is incredibly in-depth. Gone are the usual levels system that games of this genre use, instead the game comes with LP or Life Points. Each character has a fixed number of LP, and when it goes down to 0 they are permanently killed in battle and lost, meaning that your party members can only get knocked out so many times before they perish in battle. It adds a layer of strategy in the long term and it makes it so party members only need to be healed rather than resurrected in combat, which allows for more options at the cost of the risk of losing people.

There is also Glimmering, which is how characters learn new skills. In combat, a character might have a lightbulb in their skills, when this happens there is a chance that using said skill will make them learn a new one, which they will use immediately. Glimmering as a system is interesting because sometimes, sacrificing the optimal move for the chance of learning new skills is worth it. Magic meanwhile is a random chance after battle, provided that the character has the magic tree leveled enough. The more a weapon is wielded and used or a magic tree is cast, the better characters get at using them.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3356388647

The main goal is to defeat The Seven Heroes, and the order in which you tackle them is important as it mixes up things. Knowing which evasions to equip, what formations to use, and which classes to bring can be the difference between a certain victory or assured doom. The game has a steep learning curve, and some combats such as the Hero Noel can be particularly high in spike difficulty, but with the inheritance system and some patience, one can eventually surpass obstacles. Each of the Heroes is a show on the screen, some mock you, others intimidate you and they always pack a punch both in their presence and their super-powerful skills.

An integrated lore that matters

Learning the lore of the game is important, both for the story experience but also in a practical manner. As you develop the Empire, you can make new buildings such as smithies or even universities. In the latter, you will get tested on the lore of the game, and if you pass you will get handsomely rewarded each time. In addition to that, some quests won't be tracked by mini-map, requiring the player to pay attention to know where to go, which enriches the world exploration. Some decisions, such as deciding to let a volcano erupt or stopping it can change areas of the game and the consequences of it.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355834521

The attention to detail doesn't end there, as some Leylines affect the potency of spells and skills in battle based on their usage, but outside combat, there is an integrated world that offers plenty of goods. Making a garden gives revenue to the Empire while annexing territory gives plenty of other bonuses. Each location has its particular vibe to it and makes exploring it enjoyable as you find treasure chests and new secrets.

Price Point Analysis and Replayability

Revenge of The Seven shines in all of its aspects, and the only weakness the game suffers from is that with so much depth, it can be overwhelming at times if you don't get into it. It doesn't help that despite having a Casual difficulty, combats are so challenging in the latter half that missing a certain spell or tactic will make victory almost impossible. Nonetheless, it is a game that focuses on experimentation and being able to become stronger each time, so with some patience even the hardest battle becomes bearable. At 50$ bucks this is a wonderful game to get, with an amazing soundtrack, story, voice acting, and gameplay.

The replayability is up to the player, as playthroughs can be quite different based on choices and the order the heroes are tackled. That being said, some players can be done after one run due to the game being 20-50 hours long based on choices to do or skip, along with the difficulty setting.

Conclusion
Revenge of The Seven is a remake that one asked for and an interesting proposal by Square Enix, but it shines in all of its areas, resulting in an enjoyable game that feels so different from anything else in the market. If you enjoy challenges, immersive stories, and a deep combat system, I recommend giving this game a try, for you be surprised at how good it is.

The Good
The Bad
  • ✔️ The inheritance system makes each generation exciting and memorable.
  • ✔️ Deep combat that feels satisfying to play and strategize.
  • ✔️ Very good story, with mystery, stakes, and duality in its topics.
  • ✔️ Lots of freedom in which class to be, decisions, and where to go first.
  • ✔️ The LP system makes for a larger strategy in keeping characters alive while giving leeway in battles.
  • ❌Steep learning curve, it starts simple but quickly develops into a complicated system.
  • ❌Some extreme difficulty spikes such as the Hero Noel, the last battle, and some mini-bosses are abrupt and frustrating.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, A Timeless Classic, Reimagined
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the latest game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, where Dragon Ball characters form teams to fight in 3D arenas that focus more on fun and realistic aspects of the Dragon Ball universe rather than a balanced fighter experience.

The game might look simplistic at first glance, with gameplay mechanics that make it a button smasher at times, but beneath a deceptive flow of gameplay (and horrendous tutorials) Sparking Zero hides a title that requires a lot of finesse to make the most out of combos and special attacks. Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft bring a legendary successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi games.

What Makes It Worth Playing?
Sparking Zero enhances the gameplay of the classic formula by expanding the roster with new characters, making techniques tracking better at following opponents, and having a big visual upgrade from the classic games. The game is eye candy, with fluid detailed animations, destruction of environments, light effects, and models that make the player believe they are in an episode of Dragon Ball.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3354016860

Another reason to get the game is that not only does it boast iconic battles such as Goky SSJ VS Frieza in Namek, but it also creates new ones through the "What If" scenarios. These divergent paths go all the way from Goku defeating Cell or Majin Boo earlier to instead of getting Goku Black, we get Gohan Black, making for entertaining scenarios that let the developers play with new ideas and exciting content that adds value to the story mode.

This is how Sparking Zero Works
The game features fast-paced battles where decisions we take every second can dictate a win or a defeat, and the game uses a bit of button smashing in the melee combos but finesses in the techniques as smashing a vanishing attack or Kamehameha results in nothing. To articulate this better, if Kamehameha is a skill that needs RB+B, you have to press both buttons, once, without spamming at the same time to get the skill to activate.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3354017708

Some menus such as transformations and active power-ups have been simplified to reach a modern audience that didn't grow up with the classic Budokai games, and Sparking Zero at its core is a defensive game where knowing how to vanish and block helps greatly when it comes to obliterating foes. The game uses Ki in multiple bars, which require smart use in battle to get the most out of it and knowing where to charge up as it leaves one wide open. The result is a game that is easy to pick up but hard to master, especially when we consider the huge roster of characters that are all unique and feature different stats, skills, and gameplay styles.

The DP system, a Blessing and a Curse
Sparking Zero uses a system called DP (Destruction Points) to evaluate how powerful characters are in the lore and gameplay. The game limits you to 15 DP total for team battles, with powerful characters such as Gogeta or Vegito costing 10 each while basic fighters like Goku Black or Vegeta cost 5. The idea here is to make a balanced team that can tackle multiple strategies and adapt to enemies on the fly, which is challenging and exciting as there is not enough DP to create a dream team.

However, that is not to say amazing teams cannot be made. While at a simple glance, one might think "I put Ultra Instinct Goku and Vegeta" there are characters that can thwart a simplistic approach. Captain Ginyu can swap bodies and ruin everything, Yajirobe can replenish HP and waste away good fighters little by little and even Master Roshi can deal devastating damage.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3354017176

It is in this philosophy that teams can have multiple powerful fighters, like Gogeta and Broly of Super while using Mr Satan and Roshi to block body change or avoid the former two from being exhausted due to weaker opponents. That is without even mentioning transformations, fusions, and much more, which can make a 15 DP team reach 22 as the battle progresses. Sadly, the DP system also means making teams such as Goku Ultra Instinct and Berrus impossible to combine. However, it is still a system that I appreciate in terms of design philosophy.

Price Point Analysis and Replayability

For 70 bucks, I can easily recommend this to Dragon Ball fans who will get to enjoy new stories and the multiplayer mode with the huge roster. However, for non-Dragon Ball fans, it becomes a tricky recommendation. The game is unbalanced, making some characters busted and a pain to deal with in ranked, while at the same time, the story mode can be short overall at 8-10 hours, which leaves only multiplayer as the only content available. Adding to the gripes that the game explains mechanics poorly can result in a bad experience that leaves more to be desired.

Thus, if you are unsure, I would wait for a sale of the game for those who are no big fans of Dragon Ball. For replayability, as long as multiplayer is enjoyable to you, the game is infinite and has a good value to it.

Conclusion

Sparking Zero is the dream of every Dragon Ball fan: huge roster, impressive graphics, and a game that not only retells the story of Goku but adds more to it. The game is incredibly colorful, with a vibrant palette it that reinforces how spectacular and intense the battles are. One of the best Dragon Ball games out there to ever be made, being in direct competition with a select few such as Kakarot, Sparking Zero manages to reimagine and revitalize the core formula of Budokai Tenkaichi to new heights.

The Good
The Bad
  • Beautiful colors and graphics make it eye candy.
  • Huge roster, with almost 200 characters and more to come in DLC.
  • A deep combat system that appears simple yet is hard to master.
  • New What If scenarios are entertaining and surprising with the direction the story takes.
  • A fun experience that is a delight to every Dragon Ball fan, and even those on the fence.
  • Lack of modes once the story mode is clear results in multiplayer battles alone.
  • No rolleback netcode for its online.

Deathloop, planning the perfect loop
Note: Beating on xbox, you can check my profile with the same name. 15 hours.

Deathloop is an FPS action game. made by Arkane that reinvents the concept of adventure to create a striking world and story from a fresh perspective. It mixes elements featured in a roguelike with the careful planning of a stealth game to create a title in which there is an enjoyable loop of making a plan to tackle objectives and then trying to execute it flawlessly or improvise when things go out of the rails.

In the game, we follow Colt, a man who has found himself inexplicably stuck living the same day over and over in Blackreef, an island of endless parties where people keep looping. To break the loop, he has to get rid of eight people called the Visionaries who are split across split across four districts in one day. To do so, the player has to travel to these different areas and learn their layouts, enemies, and tricks to move effectively while avoiding detection (or you can go guns blazing too if you dare!).

What Makes It Worth Playing?

The gameplay is fluid. The feeling of shooting weapons and moving around using powers makes the game fun in its core gameplay of taking enemies out and using the environment to one's advantage. Arriving at a place to execute the perfect, shall we say, a heist is thrilling and exciting, as barriers put by the game, such as traps, foes, or the unexpected, are what gets between your decision and the result on the screen.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350865014

The design of levels is perfectly done, every location of the island has its particular shortcuts, problematic areas, vantage points, and more! As you play the game, you begin to familiarize yourself with the environment, to the fact that you start to know them and the palm of your hand. Is a linear experience that forces you to replay levels with different objectives, and the player grows as they start to memorize layouts and best routes to take out their targets flawlessly. It gives a sort of feeling of being a speedrunner but also being a daring tactician with some cool technological weapons and powers at your disposal. The freedom in how to tackle the previously mentioned barriers is what makes the game stay fresh and rewards creativity in the long run.

Residuum and Hard Choices
Since Deathloop is well, a loop (ba tums) that means that every time a day is over, you lose all your gear, weapons, and powers. That sounds terrible, but there is a way to avoid that: residuum, a resource that can be obtained from killing Visionaries and harvesting objects. At the end of the day, players can spend whatever residuum they have on their hands to keep gear available forever in their load-outs, so if you fancy a weapon or a power you get to keep it if you can afford it.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350865177

The hard decisions come that in a day of killing multiple visionaries and beating objectives, you will get a lot of loot and cool stuff, but you cannot keep all of it (at least for a good portion of the game). Then decisions are thought of as you think to yourself "Do I keep invisibility or teleportation? Do I conserve my purple energy sniper rifle or the minigun prototype weapon? What about a double jump?" Those are the decisions that make Deathloop so fantastic in its choices and gears that the player can choose what to keep and what to let go. In addition, is a huge invitation to replay levels to recover and keep the items you let go of in a previous loop. Keep in mind that the residuum you don't use is lost at the end of the day, so spend it!

Death, Loop and Julianna

As the title of the game says, you are gonna perish and loop as you play the game. The game allows a few mistakes each day, but after being taken out three times, is back to the start. That keeps things tense, as there is a real reason to avoid losing progress and the stakes are high. Adding to the levels and foes, there is Julianna, Colt's nemesis, who will hunt him through the stages as she attempts to protect the loop and Visionaries. When I was first playing the game, I was going through the level doing everything perfectly, and the next thing I know I get a notice saying that Julianna is hunting me. A few minutes later, I get instantly killed by a sniper rifle from a blindspot, ruining my plans.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350865312

When Julianna drops in, the game goes from a stealth-action game to one of mouse and cat. Everything counts when being the hunter and the hunted at the same time, as the player must use all their knowledge, skills, and cunning to come victorious when things get dire. Is super fun to try to trick Julianna as you hide in the environment or try to outsmart her knowing she can pop out of nowhere or take you out from a distance. Julianna also carries random weapons and skills, so if you take her out you can get those, making for an enticing choice of choosing to confront her or try to achieve your objective and slip away into your escape tunnels.

Price Point Analysis and Replayability

For the price of 60$, Deathloop is a short but sweet ride that lasts around 10-20 hours depending on whether you cruise by the story or want to do everything in the game. Regrettably, the multiplayer for the title has dwindled as there are only around 100-ish players daily, meaning that finding a match online can be hard at times and the matches I play myself were laggy 80% of the time. Is not a bad purchase at full price, but if you take into account you won't get a lot of use from the multiplayer unless you have a friend, you might want to wait for a sale. There is also not a lot of replayability to the game once you finish the main story unless you want to unlock everything or get all the achievements.

Conclusion

Deathloop is a fantastic adventure that scratches a particular itch for daring action and careful planning, combining it with a world that becomes more enjoyable the more you know about it both story and gameplaywise. Arkane's art style and visuals are as good as always, and apart from some inconsistencies with the AI and the multiplayer not working well, Deathloop is a game that excels in all its facets.

The Good
The Bad
  • Level design allows to tackle objectives in multiple ways.
  • Get answers to questions of the story through exploration.
  • Loadouts offer compelling choices making gear meaningful.
  • Fantastic visuals that add to the world with Arkane's artistic flair.
  • Incredibly fun to play through, planning the perfect loop and executing it.
  • AI can be clunky and behave erratically at times.
  • The multiplayer aspects of the game suffer from a low player base.

Silent Hill 2, Running Through The Fog

Silent Hill 2 (2024) is a remake of the original game that modernizes the gameplay to be less clunky while also adding more content, and endings and fixing a lot of the original's flaws. Even with all the changes, Bloober has made sure to respect the original vision and keep the essence of the game intact, as the town is as scary and unsettling as it always has been.

This remake doesn't have anything to be jealous of the Resident Evil ones, as the technical level of the game is impressive, resulting in a redemption arc for the developer, that managed to make a game of this caliber after numerous failures. 23 years later, we get the best version of the game there is as we revisit James Sunderland and Silent Hill.

What Makes It Worth Playing?

The remake doubles the duration of the original game, lasting around 14 hours on average while the original would be around 8 hours, giving more content to enjoy and digest. The details in the game are also a nice touch, as being able to break windows of cars and stands for ammo and healing items makes you look at the scenery with more attention. Other details like Maria reacting to James' flashlight, or Eddie's breath being cold due to his version of the Otherworld being colder, are subtle but add a nice touch to the immersion.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3349313591

The game also introduces new endings, making a second playthrough more enticing, and the speedrun challenge of beating the game in less than 10 hours (which I got ;3) adds replayability to the adventure once one finishes the core of it. With the gameplay being reworked to feature a more fluid experience that packs more action and strategy regarding movement, Silent Hill 2 ends up being a remake that gets you hooked, always wanting to play "one more area" before putting the controller down.

Bloober Doesn't Cut Corners, Improving Upon The Original

Bloober has improved upon the game by adding tension to it, something that the original can be missing at times. Bosses now have more room to move around, resulting in high-paced action where foes don't let you breathe. For example, Pyramid Head encounters in the original were mostly a small empty room, but in the remake, the room is bigger, has rain and there are objects James has to use to avoid being sliced by Pyramid Head, resulting in more action and strategy for the encounter.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3349314102

Puzzles have been revamped too, becoming at times a bit easier but generally harder, and answers from 23 years ago in the original won't work in the remake. In addition, each difficulty has its solutions to the puzzles that are different, and some of them even have randomly generated ones, adding to the challenge. The map no longer pauses the game either, making exploration and solving of puzzles nerve-wracking as you are in a dark corridor trying to get your beatings. Sometimes, Pyramid Head will chase the player in some area like Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, making it worse!

More Action Means More Horror

I know some of the readers and those on the fence might be like "More action, less scared!" but is the opposite. By adding more enemies, there is always a sensation that something can (and will!) jump from the darkness to attack you. Being wary of the fact that foes can appear at any moment, adds tension to the atmosphere of the game! Certain areas such as Toluca Prison felt confined and crushing to me, as the entire area is dark, with timed switches that bring light for a few seconds in long corridors, and when the light goes out halfway through, the enemies will jump from everywhere, walls, ceilings, etc. The fact that Toluca Prison is a long segment makes for a more tense experience where one wants to get out of the complex ASAP.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3349314933

The sound design is so impressive that I doubt there will be a game with a better sound design in 2024. Enemies move around and noises in the background result in "Did that come from the game or real life?" giving more immersion. Pyramid Head dragging his big knife is something that keeps me awake at night, and some enemies make noises that are either disgusting or disturbing. Let me add real quick that finding enemies in the game is a nice detail that is tricky, the flashlight will blink when a foe is close by, but it will also count little spiders, giving a false alarm of sorts. If you have the controller on vibration mode, the rain can mimic that of enemies, resulting in the rain providing cover for them not only visually, but in gameplay as well.

Price Point Analysis and Replayability

For 70 bucks, you are getting your money's worth (did that rhyme? Hopefully not). The game is a technical marvel that does an excellent job when it comes to visuals, sounds, atmosphere, and gameplay, resulting in one of the best titles of the year 2024. The only thing holding the game back a bit is that we are missing the Born From a Wish Maria chapter, which could perhaps be added as a DLC, and that the game can crash, resulting in a loss of progression (especially in Lakeside, it crashes more than usual!) During my experience, I suffered 7 crashes, not a lot per se but frustrating having to redo certain segments. Oh well! I didn't crash in Toluca Prison at least, phew!

Conclusion

To anyone who said Bloober couldn't do justice to the game, I am expecting an apology now (I jest but seriously the devs have proven themselves). The game ended up in good hands with the team, and Silent Hill 2 ended up being an improved version that is unpredictable, unnerving, and exciting! It finds a careful balance between keeping the original vision and adding new changes that reinvigorate the experience. Silent Hill 2 couldn't be in better hands, and I am hoping we get a remake of the first title, Silent Hill, with this team.

The Good
The Bad
  • Doubles the duration of the original game.
  • New endings, achievements, and content add replayability.
  • Action and fear feed each other, action-packed and scary!
  • Best sound design for a game in all of 2024, huge immersion.
  • A survival horror where the goal is surviving, bosses and foes can be quite deadly and feature impressive fights!
  • Born From a Wish, Maria's section of gameplay is missing.
  • Not well optimized, crashes sometimes, especially in Lakeside.

7 Days to Die: A Survival Nightmare

7 Days to Die was an early access title that has evolved since its inception, adding new content while revamping existing content to create a superior experience to the original concept. The open-world exploration is authentic to what an apocalypse world would be as finding resources requires exploring every corner and house in the vicinity, risking close encounters with zombies and falling into traps left by the original inhabitants. Adding the need for water and food to be a daily necessity sets 7 Days to Die apart from its peers as there are more worries to be taken into account when making a base and carefully rationalizing whatever you can get on your hands. Thanks to its 1.0 release and upgraded graphics, the game has been a recent highlight in the gaming community.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342449842

Despite the extensive content that the game features now, the developer "The Fun Pimps" has failed in providing endgame content to keep players hooked in the long run. Once a base has been established with a good amount of resources, the game can feel monotonous as there is no real danger and it devolves into a lackluster experience. The only semblance of excitement left is the weekly hordes, and even those can become tedious once players are strong enough to easily deal with any threat. In addition to that, some of the pacing can feel off as tasks become repetitive and loop into a pattern that can become exhausting over time, resulting in a design that can make it hard to remain interested in the game long term.

Combat is methodical and slow for the most part, where every strike counts, and defeating zombies without suffering damage is a priority, as they can infect the player which can result in all sorts of diseases and impediments. Entering houses and looking carefully becomes the main gameplay as there is a need for a keen eye to find resources, enemies, traps, and possible suitable locations for a strong base. The game shakes things up during the Blood Moon, an event that occurs every 7 days in-game where zombies become feral, resulting in increased strength, heightened speed, and a demonic onslaught of foes in your near location. There are also mutated zombies that can constantly recover health or those that can spit poison at players, resulting in a variety of enemies that keep one on their toes.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342450100

The game can be gritty, and as I mentioned before, it can feel extremely slow-paced. Gathering resources takes time, and transportation can be daunting initially where there is a lack of vehicles, resulting in long times of springing around. The game also suffers from technical issues, as the optimization hasn't been the best in the history of the title, and games that look better and have more things going on-screen run better on my PC than 7 Days to Die, which shouldn't be a thing.

The slow-paced combat can also be clunky, as I cannot stress how many times I need to change to another weapon only for the game to refuse to change it or shoot with the previous weapon despite already changing to another one. It becomes an issue since in overrun locations, controls can be as difficult to fight as the undead gathers around from every corner, resulting in frustrations. Both in the keyboard and controller, the game controls can result in a nightmare to deal with in certain scenarios.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342450515

After playing for 30 hours, I feel no need to play 7 Days to Die anymore, my time with it was enjoyable at some points, and a slow burn on other occasions, as the game's beginning and end can be tedious, with the middle section being the "we are getting to the good part" section of the game for what it last. The game has potential, and time will tell if the developers know how to capitalize on it, but in its current state, 7 Days to Die feels like a hot day and one is waiting for that refreshing breeze until that breeze comes by, the game can be a nightmare to experience.

7/10

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine II Review
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine II is the continuation of Space Marine I, where we will follow Titus as he faces off against the forces of evil that threaten the Imperium. The game uses a gameplay skeleton reminiscent of Gears of War but finds its identity thanks to some clever differences that encourage risky playstyles.

The game adds new elements and improvements to build upon its predecessor, while other elements remain the same such as story mode being a bit short and leaving players wanting more. Enemies now have multiple approaches to battle as they can swarm players, attack from a distance, or even inflict status such as slowing them down or corruption from chaos foes.

What Makes It Worth Playing?
The main reason to get the game is to see the continuation of Space Marine I since it ends in a cliffhanger when it is getting good. The story is well done, illustrating the world of 40K similarly to the audiobooks but with visuals and interactive gameplay. Voice actors do a great job and there is mention of important figures in the lore along with some surprising appearances.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3335976581

The game is hard in terms of difficulty, embracing a high-risk high-reward gameplay where one has to mow down obnoxious amounts of enemies while trying to survive and accomplish the objectives of the mission. The gore is satisfactory as executions are graphical and smooth, resulting in enemies popping up like toys on screen. These executions are also reinforced by the graphics and the fact that enemies that one sees in the distance can be attacked like they are real enemies rather than ambiance. Is always a show to see the Tyranids make their way to you from a distance.

Core Gameplay
The core gameplay is similar to Gears of Wars, you have dodges, melee attacks and range weapons. Where Space Marine II creates a distinction is that while Gears uses smart use of cover, this game lacks it, resulting in having to take high-risk maneuvers to succeed and parrying with great skill. As you take damage, you can recover HP if you inflict damage back, and executions restore armor and HP if you do them swiftly after taking damage. Thus, the game encourages a "hit them harder than they hit you" style where you keep the pressure on the enemy and the action never stops.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3335977484

The Weapons such as the Power Sword are very fun to use, They feature a power mode and a speed mode making them versatile and useful against swarms, while abilities like the Jetpack give a lot of maneuverability and exploration options. All the weapons pack a punch and you can use what goes best with your playstyle, whether that be gun blazing, swords, chainsaw-swords, flamethrowers, or sniper rifles with lasers.

My Experience
In my experience, I found the controller more comfortable than the mouse and keyboard (don't laugh at me!) but both options are solid. The reason for the controller is that the developers seem to have made an extra effort to make it more natural and easier to move around and parry enemies with it. "But the aiming!" my brother gamer, is a third-person action shooter, not an FPS, I rather have good movement than aim.

I played the camping solo and this is the part where I tell you the game has flaws. First of all, no matchmaking for the campaign, in 2024?! Seems like a mistake. Secondly, the bots are downright useless for the most part, they do not do objectives and they don't help a lot. The bots were so bad, that I had to lower the difficulty of the game, and this has been recognized by the developers who had stated they would tone down Veteran due to the incompetence of the bots. Other than that the game is very good and enjoyable. (I love my battle brothers but still fix the bots a bit).

Long Term Appeal
A normal run of the campaign is around 8-12 hours depending on how good you are and what difficulty you choose. The game features a PvE mode and a PvP one giving it more shelf life in your library. Both modes are great, as PvE sees you tackling new missions through different perspectives while PvP has a couple of modes where you face off against other space marine players. They are both solid and add a foundation for future updates to the game.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3335978099

Speaking of updates, the game will get a new Horde mode next year (cannot escape the comparisons to Gears of War heh?) which is great, because I believe in the long run what this game will need is an addictive fun mode like Horde, alongside with good PvP to keep it alive (and if we can get a DLC story down the great line, I am not looking forward to waiting another 13 years for Space Marine III haha!) With more updates and time, the game could easily next 50-100 hours of gameplay on the average player.

Price Point Analysis
For 60 bucks I consider it a fair deal, you get a fantastic story in a quality game with great graphics, devs that will support the title moving forward with new content, and space marine action. I mean, nothing beats being a behemoth of destruction fighting for the Emperor while burning down your enemies to a cinder. The extra modes add more playtime and the personalization that you can do to your character post-game in the extra modes is sweet as you can choose from different chapters and personalize your space marine to your liking.

Conclusion
Space Marine II is a great game that despite having the opportunity to be an amazing title, gets held back by some limitations to the solo experience, a lack of matchmaking, and a short story. In due time, the game will become even better, and it is a short but sweet ride of a fantastic entry in the 40K universe. That being said, Saber Interactive, please don't make me wait another 13 years for the sequel to this game, and make the story mode a bit longer next time! If you enjoy Warhammer, get it. If you like 40K get it too. If you are into action games, consider getting it, but you can also wait until the title is injected with more quality-of-life updates and new content. The Emperor protects!

8/10 GREAT

Review for Monster Hunter Rise
The game was beaten on the Nintendo Switch and Sunrise, while I played a few hours on Steam to see the differences.

Overview
Monster Hunter Rise is a captivating action RPG that takes Monster Hunter gameplay in a new direction by adding new features and shaking the foundation of how the game works regarding movement. The world is inspired by Japanese aesthetics and promises intense hunts against multiple magnificent monsters, attracting a lot of newcomers and seasoned veterans. The game is a hit-and-miss for a good amount of people, as traditional Monster Hunter players have stated that it does not feel quite like the previous titles, but is good to see Capcom experiment. There is always Monster Hunter World for that classic experience.

What Makes It Worth Playing
If you want to enjoy a different type of Monster Hunter game, then Rise is the perfect title. The introduction of the wirebug along with hoarder missions and two different types of key quests revamps the formula by adding new ways to play and tackle the story. Village quest introduces new players to the world of Monster Hunter while making monsters easier to catch, becoming the perfect introduction course to how hunting works and how important it is to craft new weapons and gear, as well as getting a hand on the land layout.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3326444499

There is also the addition of a wolf/dog companion along with the usual cat, giving you more options when it comes to transversing the land on your fur allies and hunting down materials and creatures. They can do actions such as stunning monsters temporarily or allowing you to recover HP by indicating a triggerable AOE healing pool. It makes for a pleasant solo experience if players would rather go that route.

Core Gameplay
The heart of Monster Hunter Rise lies in its thrilling combat mechanics. With a vast array of weapon types to choose from, players can gear up with weapons and armor that fit their playstyle. Notably, the introduction of the Wirebug significantly enhances mobility, allowing players to scale walls and move around the environment with ease.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3326443045

The Wirebug not only makes movement much easier and faster, but it also adds a layer of strategy to the game as it gives one multiple tactical options. It can be used to escape encounters, recover your balance when knocked into the air, surprise monsters from above, and even unleash powerful special moves. This flexibility encourages players to experiment not only with different strategies but also weapons, as each weapon has its unique take on it, enhancing the overall hunting experience.

Graphics and Performance
Visually, Monster Hunter Rise stands out, especially on the PC now that the port is on Steam, where it achieves an impressive balance of detail and performance4. While not as graphically intensive as Monster Hunter World, the art direction beautifully conveys the vibrant ecosystems and monstrous designs of the creatures. The game's performance is generally smooth, with minimal frame drops during intense battles. It makes it enjoyable even in chaotic situations like Rampage hunts or high-level hunts. With my specs (you can see them on my profile) I ran the game at max graphics on 4K with FPS moving between 110-120fps.

Content and Replayability
The game excels in offering content that keeps players engaged. With more than +30 unique monsters to hunt, and even more in the Sunrise expansion, the game offers a lot of variety and richness in its diverse cast of creatures. That being said, in the village questline there is some repetition of monsters as they are supposed to serve as an introductory course, which dampens the pacing a bit and can lead to a bit of repetition of encounters. Rampage mode (aka horde) adds a twist to the formula, featuring defense-building gameplay that depends more on strategizing than reflex as you create a layout of traps and defenses.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3326442204

Accessibility and Learning Curve
Monster Hunter Rise has taken significant steps towards making the series more accessible through streamlined mechanics and improved tutorials, making it easier for new players to grasp the complexities of the gameplay. However, veterans can feel that some aspects might have been simplified a bit too much and could result in a loss in depth compared to previous titles if they expect a classic experience. I would say Rise is more beneficial and enjoyable to newcomers than veterans, but if you are the latter don't let that intimidate you, there is a lot to enjoy if you can control your expectations, especially if you avoid comparing the game to World and rather take it as a unique entry.

Story and Presentation
As with many Monster Hunter games, the story in Rise takes a backseat to the gameplay. While the narrative is thin and consists mainly of minimal cutscenes, it serves its purpose of facilitating the hunting action rather than overshadowing it. The voice acting is quite inconsistent in English, but since the story plays a minimal role when compared to gameplay, the game does not suffer much from this.

Conclusion
In summary, Monster Hunter Rise is a well-crafted entry in the series, offering an exciting combination of challenging hunts, intricate gameplay mechanics, and stunning visuals. It may not completely satisfy die-hard fans looking for depth akin to Monster Hunter World. Still, it successfully lays a solid foundation for future expansions and updates. Overall, it stands as a must-play for anyone looking to dive into the Monster Hunter universe. This game brilliantly captures the essence of monster hunting while introducing fresh mechanics that keep the experience engaging and fun.

Final Rating: 8/10 GREAT

Trepang 2 Review
FEAR is a series that is almost two decades old and features an action FPS mixed in with psychological horror. It marked an era back in the 2000s that put a shooter game that was frantic and full of action while being extremely scary and kinda disturbing. Trepang 2 is a spiritual successor to FEAR that looks to maintain that particular essence while elevating the gameplay more.

Exploring an area where things took a turn for the wrong, you play as specimen 106 and aim to decimate the company that imprisoned you. The game is terrifying at times, and there are some jumpscares in it, while the action is satisfying as it embraces brutal combat where you need to keep trying until you beat the level. The environments play a huge part in the gameplay and become a combination of fast planning and reflexes when facing foes.

What Makes It Worth Playing?
What makes Trepang 2 worth playing is both its addictive gameplay and the amazing graphics the game boasts. The gunplay is frenetic as you can use enemies as hostages to protect yourself from bullets, throw them with a grenade attached to them, and see their allies be blown up to smithereens. Bosses require smart use of the layout of levels to be victorious and it is a title that will test your skills to the limit.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324485946

The graphics are beautiful on the epic settings, making the game shine even more in its technical and visual elements. It reinforces the feeling of being there, of immersion not only because of how good it looks but also because each level is filled with details and care, you can tell the developers worked hard to make each zone distinct. A cool detail is that at the backroom level, they added coconut water to the vending machines.

Core Gameplay
The core gameplay of the game is that you go into a location, annihilate all the enemies in your path, and then pray that there is no SCP abomination coming your way at some point in the level. Weapons pack a punch, are well-animated, and can be customized to an extent. The game's enemies are smart and can take you out in seconds even in the easy difficulty if you don't react fast, so the idea is "How fast can I take out all these foes before they take me out?" It is fast-paced, and you have powers such as slow-mo, which is gratifying for kills and useful for aiming, while camouflage makes you invisible to jump on enemies or escape from a dangerous situation.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324486267

The true show of the game is the bosses and the environment. Monsters like the Mothman are scary when you first encounter them, while The Patriarch is a huge zombified Hulk that is faster than you, and you face it in a complex layout where there are multiple little houses with multiple levels of elevation. The trick to winning in Trepang 2 is to use walls, elevation points, and cover to defeat foes. You cannot brute force the bosses most of the time, so it becomes a scary game of mouse and cat that keeps interchanging the roles.

Likewise, level design is fantastic when it comes to the decoration of it and the tension. I got scared of the bones in Site 83, a level in which one has to go into an abandoned cave underground where otherworldly entities hunt you down based on the noise you make. They are immortal and spooky and as an extra treat, they teleport you in and out of the backrooms intermittently throughout the level. After the first jumpscare, your skin will be that of a chicken as you move around trying to avoid them. It makes the game more immersive, so it's a great benefit to the game, so long as you don't get scared easily. If you don't enjoy horror games, be wary of trepang 2, because the game is not scary all the time but when it is, it goes all the way into it.

My Experience
I had a lot of fun with the dual-wielding ability, as it let me dual-wield two weapons of the same kind which is powerful and fun to do! The only downside to it is that ammo runs out fast! The game was more challenging than expected and I was taken out a couple of times, especially during some of the boss fights and levels that are a bit tight in the corridors. The game reminds me of FEAR and DOOM in that it is both chilling in how afraid I could get, and the challenge it presents to make one try harder to beat it.

https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3324487259

I got them traumas in Site 83, very spooky level. The voice acting was a hit and a miss for me, as in the majority of levels people sound muffled when speaking, barely being able to hear them but the screams are well done and loud, giving more immersion, especially in Site 83 where the tension is high and nerve-wreaking. The game forces one to change weapons a lot as there is not a big amount of ammo, forcing one to adapt and loot weapons from enemies.

Long Term Appeal
In the long term, department Trepang 2 doesn't shine too much. Beating the game will take between 4=9 hours depending on your skill and how many side missions you do. Once you are done with the game, there are not a lot of reasons to replay it. An enjoyable one-way ride.

Price Point Analysis
For 30 bucks it's a nice game, I feel like 20 bucks would be a better fit but hey, the graphics are amazing so I let it slide Trepang. The title is top-notch in all of its facets and it feels like an almost AAA game. Beautiful levels with highly detailed elements and visuals, great bosses, and fantastic gunplay. You are getting all your money's worth at full price, but do wait for a sale if you are on the fence. If you like gore and games such as FEAR, then is a safe bet anytime.

Conclusion
Trepang 2 revives a genre that has been buried for quite a while, the genre of action fps games that are scary to play through and satisfying to beat. The studio did a good job, and the graphics on the Epic setting are quite impressive! I love the details they added to the game such as the notes that have lore, adding the backrooms, and other cameos of such. If you enjoy shooters and don't get spooked easily, this is a must-play game!
