Not recommended, Ubisoft is known to mass-revoke licenses for games without notice, such as "The Crew" and therefore purchasing Ubisoft products is a high-risk purchase.

We had a scare, but we dive together. Sony has no quarter.
It's a good game, and it'll only get better. But Helldivers are tight-knit, dedicated players that stand together, even if just in our actions. With month-long events that are cleared in mere hours it's no surprise we outright told a company 'no' and won.

You know how people make fun of EA for making games so bad a toddler would call them stupid? PortKey games thought they were doing a good job. Across TWO computers I have tried to play this game, both equipped with hardware well above the requirements for this game.
Neither one will give me decent FPS for more than a few seconds. If I do get decent FPS, I'm met with the worst bug to ever grace a quest game: non-spawning quest NPCs. Because one of this games unfixed HARD LOCKS is a random chance that your save game will despawn all questgiver NPCs and will not allow you to respawn them. The flags are disabled, and those flags are part of your save file, meaning they don't check for their appropriate status on load. What's worse, they will carry back as cached flags if you load an older file, or directly into another character. (This bug can happen at any time, by the way.)

In the very limited time I managed to get this game working (at low graphics, and with a mod to force optimizations, mind you) I managed to find myself soft locked after the first major plot points actually began. I'd refund this game if I could, but I sat through a two and a half hour loading screen because of those shaders and it voided my refund warranty. So I stuck with it, hoping it'd work. It does not.

Dice roll of a game Not a 100% chance it'll work for you if you meet specs.

If you're looking to buy this game, I hope this review serves as a great guide for your purchase.
Steam Release was my first time playing this game, and I had only heard of DF, never played or even seen the old stuff.
So, should you buy the game? Probably.
Dorf Fort is a long-term resource and time management game in the vein of Rimworld, Oxygen Not Included, and other such games. What's the difference? Those games branched off of the path and spun the genre. But as far as records show, DF STARTED the genre in its purest form.
Your average gameplay loop is going to be creating a world, staring at the huge map looking for a 3x3 square to call home for an hour. You'll choose a civilization to hail from, and embark. You arrive, decide its home, and start building the fort. And then dying in year four, because a 200-foot-tall one-eyed cretin decided your fort looked like a great place to crap.

Then you'll do it again. You might embark with seven warriors to take back the fortress, creating a monument to the fallen original settlers you lost before. You'll suddenly realize that while you were building that first fort, the world around you grew. Now you have adventurers coming to this legendary fortress, and now you're a barony of over a hundred dwarves. You'll build two or six temples, a bunch of guildhalls, and start churning out artifacts.

Then you'll lose the fort to something else, a necromancer perhaps.
So you settle again, the same core civilization of Dwarves. Trying to make their place. Then you'll remember that you can retire a fortress, and the AI will take over. So you go three years, retire, and hop to another. And dwarves from that now thriving fort will show up in trader caravans. Some come to live in the new fort. And you realize, again, this is a living world. Your actions aren't arbitrary. You can decide you've done your job, and go build another.

There's not a victory condition. Set a goal and see it through. There is no outright game over, losing a fort is just history in motion. There are often four or five different dwarf kingdoms, so don't be afraid to start a new fort under a new king. There's no true winning either. Dig as deep as you like (don't, you idiot, you'll go straight to the CIRCUS and the CLOWNS will get you)

Go to war with the local necromancers, build a temple fort to Kobolds, or create a fortress where your only export is diamond encrusted mugs forged by an angry old codger in the heart of a volcano. It'll be fun. So, Urist, boot up that wiki. Go watch a tutorial on basics (or don't, you poor brave soul) and strike the earth!

>Recommend it for the fun, stupid moments you can have. But I recommend playing only if you have a high tolerance for stressful fights. You should learn to think on your feet and have a priority in mind for fights. It's no fun when the ship is sinking and you're the guy trying to go in for another shot while the rest of the crew is trying to float. One of the few times when watching videos on the topic is a good idea.

Also, name a fox Cannonball and shoot him at your enemies in the first volley. Nothing will strike fear into the hearts of others like the screams of a fox flying overhead before a rain of cannon fire comes down.

Okay ladies, stand and hear the true review of a guy who hates Grand Battle Strategy games with a burning passion. Play. This. Game. It's a daunting, sometimes confusing trek across a DLC ridden battlefield of epic proportions. Dotted with moments when you accidentally uncheck historical AI and have Communist America crawling up your butt trying to teach you a lesson you didn't know you needed to learn.

That lesson? Buy this game, and go ham on the workshop. Pick the weirdest, most insane sounding Scenario mod and just play. Play endlessly. Lose days in the battle.

Or do what I did and install Equestria at War, Kaiserreich, and Old World Blues, and set up for a set of games that, somehow, are all interconnected in vague and interesting ways.

Straight up though, no mod is too dumb to turn down. Anime girls? Go for it! Ponies? One of the most in-depth lore filled adventures you'll play. Go for it. Want Germany to win WWI? Kaiserreich is your mod, strap in and go for it.

The Fumble of Ages. The Pinnacle of what Warner Bros is as a company: a clumsy kid who could make millions with a snap, but settles for making EA Games look like a good company.
If you're reading this review looking to get the game, one of two things has happened.
1. WBG realized they panicked and put the game back on the market in hopes of attracting their players back.
2. It's 2024, and you want to play this game for the first time.
Don't. This game held promise. It was fun, it was charming, and it was effortless to get into. I'm not a good Smash player, but I was a decent Multiversus player. At least, I hope I was.
Why shouldn't you get it then? Misleading. The game was in an Open Beta (it was never marketed as such by the way), and it looked good. It looked great. There are games that looked worse in their release form. But WBG claims the game needs to be taken down for a 'bigger launch'. Not only did they market this as a non-beta game, they had special promotions for being the first-season players of the game. They added new characters and gave balance patches like you would for a LIVE GAME!
But now it's a sudden desire to close the doors, kick out the players we have, and 'dev' the final version.
That means they didn't mean their player quota. They put a player quota on a beta. A beta they really didn't market like they could have, by the way.
Now people have spent money on this game, and their right to play is being taken away for a while. What's the risk? Cancellation. There is a risk now that the game is not an active circulation product. A risk that production gets cut while it's behind closed doors. The risk is always there of course, but look at TF2. The game is dead on updates, but its playable. It's accessible to those who bought into it.
If this game made it to the other end of the gap, teach these devs a lesson: you don't do this. If you have a beta, you shouldn't use that beta to make oodles of money and then pull the game for a year. Progress seamlessly into open release. maybe a week down to transition servers. It's quite easy
