Subnautica is fantastic.
When I first started to play the game years ago, I was stunned.
Now the graphics have improved, the stability has improved, they added a story and immersive gameplay as well as many other things.
It makes me wish I never played it in Early Access because it's just so fantastic. Nothing can really compare to the first time you exit your pod.
I envy those of you who are about to "Dive in" when the game releases in the next few days. It's a fantastic game made by a development team that really care about what they create. Frankly, i'm surprised a game like this is $24.99

Do yourself a favor and play this!

Early Access Review
It's almost 2017, and this game has been in Early Access since 2013 (2010, but 2013 on steam)

It's price also dropped from $20 to $10 which I can only assume is because the playerbase has dwindled significantly.

Honestly I do hope this game makes it out of dev hell, but the lack of features and the amount of time this has been an Early Access title makes me think otherwise.

EDIT: My original review was in November nearly TWO YEARS AGO
Now that it's almost 2019 I wanted to update the review to keep it up - to - date
So what's changed? Nothing- the last "update" was nearly 10 months ago.

Don't buy this game, it's unfortunately a fever dream which will never reach fruition.
Really cool concept and it's such a shame it's been lost in obscurity.

EDIT 2: My original review was in November nearly FOUR YEARS AGO
Now that it's almost 2021, I wanted to update the review again to keep it "up to date".

Literally nothing has changed in the two years since my original edit of this review. use the money you would have spent on this, to buy a meal instead. 100% more satisfying.

Horrible campaign, excellent sandbox world

Sloppy story, with a very undercooked ending- it's a shame that the excellent Human revolution was followed by this mess.

Despite this, I really enjoyed the side missions and open sandbox world design between missions. Breaking into homes, a bank, looking for secrets, etc was incredibly fun so If you want a good deus ex game, look for Human revolution directors cut- it's nothing short of excellent. If you want a fun game with nice graphics and a plethora of bugs then I'd recommend this title on sale for sure.

Bugs have always been a problem with bethesda. It was more excusable with Fo3, and even skyrim.
HOWEVER
This dlc has more bugs than the base game. I've only played this for a little while, but already have encountered TONS of ISSUES.

BUGS
- Raiders often fly into the sky and bounce around the park
- CONSTANT music issues. All sounds cut in/out randomly
- I can't have a conversation without other NPCs speaking louder than the person i'm trying to talk to. For example, when I was meeting the leader of the Pack, the ONLY SOUNDs I COULD HEAR were TWO DOGS barking at each other, through his ENTIRE dialogue. It was annoying, and I missed out on whatever that guy said.
- Constant frame drops when around the park

WHAT I LIKED
-

WHAT I DISLIKED
- The "story" which was poorly written and poorly implemented.
- The way the voice actor reads his lines. If you WANT me to be a bad guy bethesda, WHY do I sound like i'm a confused man child questioning things when I get threatened? WHY can't I threaten somebody and ACTUALLY sound like I'm a bad person? Isn't this what you wanted?

VERDICT
Don't buy this. Don't support a half-*ssed attempt at dlc from a developer that focused primarily on producing garbage workshop dlc content rather than creating interesting stories or putting more effort into nuka world.

THE ONLY DLC WORTH GETTING is FAR HARBOR. And that's saying something especially since it's almost a copy-paste of the MAIN STORY from the BASE GAME but with DIFFERENT factions.

YOu want to play a real fallout game? Support Obsidian and play Fallout: New Vegas. That's a real Fallout game. Not...whatever this is.

EDIT:
Formerly a negative review, I've recently found a decent amount of entertainment from this title.

The main story is terrible, most of the DLC is garbage, and yet I still enjoy the gameplay enough to make this a positive review.

- The automatron DLC doesn't work because ADA (the mission giver for the dlc) is stuck in a "searching for targets" dialogue despite no enemies being nearby. You'd think that Bethesda would have fixed this nearly FIVE YEARS after the game released

- Far Harbor is still the best of their DLC offering over 10 hours of additional content.

The main reason why I realized that this is a "good" game, is because of how "bad" FO76 is in comparison

One of the few games that I've played through multiple times and still really enjoy. Fantastic Voice Acting, gameplay and story.

One of the best stories I've had the pleasure of experiencing.

A Quiet town thriller with some incredible moments.

Ada has been searching for enemies. For months.

The quest won't trigger in my newest playthrough, meaning the only way to trigger it is to input the console command in.
Classic bethesda.
