So far I am enjoying this update to a favorite over the last many years. I started a new map without going into any settings or changing any options. Just straight it and WOW did it load fast! I did notice some flickering of shadows, but performance has been just fine for me (I don't use a FPS overlay to see my FPS). So far smooth as butter and my eyes haven't noticed low frames yet. I am only to 2000 POP, however. I have only had a stutter when the game auto-saves.

The water physics are a wonderful and sometimes frustrating change (don't flood your neighborhoods or services with terraforming). Updated tool options are a welcome addition. I love the wealth and depth of information you can see about your cities. The overlays are configured well (though I wonder how the many color gradients may affect color blind individuals). Looking forward to the future growth of this game and I do recommend this to anyone. If I feel the need I will update as my POP grows.

EDIT: After roughly 4 hours game play I have yet to have a crash or frames low enough for me to notice.

2TB Samsung 980 M.2 SSD

Super fun survival game with sandbox mode. Procedural worlds provide new starting challenges each play through. In depth game mechanics and systems allowing for sophisticated game play but not required to be successful.

Great game!

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an action experience set in a, true to spirit, world of Tolkien. Beautifully dark in it's depiction. If you have any interest in action packed combat/assassin games, this is worth your time. If you have any interest in Lord of the Rings, then you will appreciate the detail set forth in the characters and world.

Pros-
- Control and gameplay taken from Assassin's Creed. Smooth movement (minus a couple edge finding issues), Easy to pick up combat, but fun to explore into deep combo/finishers.
-Graphics are current gen. Don't be scared by the VRAM requirements. This game runs well on high settings with an i7 and GTX670 reference card.
-The voice overs are spot on. Characters we know and love sound as they should. (hopefully voiced by the original actors).
-Gamepad layout is setup in a fashion that is easy to grasp.
-Story is well written and executed. With seemless story continuation during open world gameplay and cutscenes that are frequent (if you follow the story mission consecutively) but short and in my opinion to the level of Blizzard and what we have come to love in cutscene cinema.

Mixed bag-
-Skills/upgrades are enough to feel like actuall upgrades but shallow in their depth and feels like they might have cut short the develpement of the system.
-Picture mode is a cool feature that allows in-game editing of screenshots. Some will appreciate the ability and others will not. You are still able to take regular screeshots without the mode.

Cons-
-Gamepad cannot be remapped. I would like to always have the "Picture" mode activated in option, but since I am a heavy stick user (push in on stick when not meaning to) the game frequently goes into "Picture" mode when not meant to. Moving that binding to the D-pad (left or right - not being used) would help alleviate this issue.
-Another "Season Pass" DLC system. This is more a symptom of the industry and DLC in general. I feel like the day and age of 100 hour experiences is far and few between. Content is just not provided like it used to be.

15 hours (including breaks while game is running) is enough time to feel like I can say, without a doubt, that I have made a great purchase. If you choose to purchase as well, I am confident you will appreciate the value of entertainment Shadow of Mordor provides.

Early Access Review
I am not a hardcore RTS gamer, but do love the genre. I find it refreshing that there is a modern option available, focused on the American Civil War era.

I feel the developer is on the right track, laying a foundation, to take the place of what Total War (series) could/should have been in regards to gameplay.

Looking forward to further developement.

Early Access Review
Gave this game a shot when the Kickstarter ended and the Early Access began. Had promis and was progressing quite well under v1.

The Dev team basically went silent for several months and released v2. Took some of the feedback and made some changes. Enough to make me feel like this is a lost cause. Peter is a visionary that does not know how to make his ideas come to life. He is very good at promising things but not implementing them. I feel bad for his team. They will go down with him because they bought in like we all did. :(
