The developers of this game are exceptionally incompetent. There are few games that can rival the instability of this game's lobby and matchmaking system. Your party gets disbanded after every game you play, forcing you to quit to the main menu and re-invite your friends before going into queue once more. There's a whole treasure trove of bugs for you to experience in this game, making it feel exceptionally unpolished, even compared to an early access game. This is impressive after been out of early access for two years.

Allow me to demonstrate the absurdity of this game: A friend and I played a multiplayer siege battle in which our team's first objective was to plant explosives in a tower. For some reason, people on our team seemed to be just ignoring the objective, so my friend went ahead and carried in the explosives. The explosives detonate without your control, killing everyone nearby. That's fine, we are going to respawn at the next objective, so not an issue. Here's the amazing part: It counts as friendly fire damage, so much of it in fact that it led to an immediate ban. This objective by design requires a sacrificial lamb to accept the ban for friendly fire. Now it was no wonder that our team was ignoring the objective.

Another thing is the fact that there's 3 factions in this game, one more than in the original Chivalry. While there are a whole bunch of character customisation options for the two original factions, you are literally unable to customise your characters at all for the faction that was added in this game. What even is the point of including a new faction when the only purpose of factions are cosmetics anyway?

In recent news, Torn Banner Studios permanently banned one of their content creators for talking about the cheating problem that arises from the Game Pass version of this game not having anti-cheat included. He tried to appeal the ban, but Torn Banner Studios' reply was that the ban was final and refused to communicate beyond that. Unfortunately, the content creator, whose name was Soter Dave, was struggling financially, with his Chivalry content being one of his only sources of income. He was also an organiser for community tournaments and other events and brought a lot of life to the game. It seems the game brought a lot of life to him as well, because news of his suicide emerged soon after.

This is another textbook case of lazy developers that care more for crushing criticism than fixing their damn game.

The game's progression system is absolutely terrible, as Gaijin is trying to force players to spend money on the game or else spend eons grinding.

Though it's far from perfect, the game is quite fun. Be warned though that the game seems to be too much for the average player to handle based on the fundamental lack of understanding of core game mechanics exhibited by the community. The game does not explain all its mechanics in deep detail, so you need at least some critical thinking to be good at the game. Since this is a Paradox game, it will continue to improve over time through a mix of DLC and free updates, hopefully fixing the flaws it has in its current state. My biggest concern for the future of the game is that some of the devs suffer from the same opacity as the players, but there are some at least who are bringing well-thought-out changes in the first few patches.

Crusader Kings III's state at launch is the best of any Paradox game. I look forward to the future of this game.

Early Access Review
Bannerlord is quite lacking in many regards, with few improvements made from Warband. The graphics also look quite poor considering the game's price, release date, and development time.
