TLDR: Don't get this game, unless the sale is 60% or more.

Sorry for the bitterness, but I have a lot to say about this game.

Took 3 whole years to develop this 3-hour playtime game. (just enough to invalidate a refund, huh?)
Yes, 3 hours for 20€. And no rush on the gameplay.

I always kept myself updated on its development, participated in live Q&As with the devs, watched the streams they had about technical and story categories (sometimes more than once, because as you can imagine, they attended a lot of fests and showcases). I also played the demo back when it was available.
I basically saved a place in my heart for this game; it was nice seeing it grow and watching as the community shared their hype on it. Everyone was boiling for its release and on November 2nd it finally happened.
I had read some articles that stated the price was going to be 20€ but I didn't want to believe it, maybe they got the wrong info or they were talking about the soundtrack being included as well.
It did in fact release with that price.
It felt like such a backstab. Yes, this is my personal opinion and experience, but I cannot fathom the idea of indie "humble" devs possibly having this amount of audacity and arrogance.
One of the great things about supporting indie games is that the people behind them are simple devs and not a huge impersonal company. You end up creating certain bonds with the game you maybe wouldn't other way. But what they ended up doing was even worse than a greedy corporate company would. I'm not the only one that thinks like this, and the overwhelmingly positive reviews might throw you off into making a bad purchase, because the ones that won't put up with the absurd price don't get to write a review of course.
Moreover, they didn't put a single cent off the price in the various sales that have gone by since release, not even the grand Winter sale. The first sale ever is this midweek madness with 20% (surprised they gave off "that much").
You can additionally compare with other indie games that were released on the exact same date even, that launched with sale or others that of course had a few by now.
Finally - as you also can see, I do own the game - quite contradictory and ironic, might seem. I have never debated myself towards the decision of buying a game as much as this. In the end, I got a steam card as a gift and really wanted to ultimately see the end result, and didn't want to resort to not-so-ethical means to do so, even though I honestly fully agree with the people who did.
I absolutely confirmed the game wasn't worth the price even remotely close, and even though I think that a game's quality isn't measured by the time you took to complete it, I'd like to reinforce that the ridiculously swift gameplay wasn't the only contact I've had with this game, nor is the only aspect of my point of view.
Furthermore, regional pricing was not taken into consideration - after checking with players from regions taken under this status, the price had not suffered any kind of alteration, contrary to what happens with other games in these situations. The money they're asking for this game can be worth of food for a week.
Some forum posts include: "The game is short for now, but this might not be the end, and the money we paid for it can still be worth it", a lot of people still think. That pending hope is flooding the forums and posts, but for those who took some time to read the dev's response or those who had a bit of access to the 'behind the scenes' like I did, know that they assertively have told several times that there are no plans to add any sort of additional content to the game. And to think of the 3 years that culminated in this, it should be easy to realize that.
Another option would be "well, if the devs won't do it, we can", but as you can also search in the forums, that idea has been discarded by the devs and they won't implement Steam Workshop settings. Gatekeeping or not wanting to have that work, wouldn't know by now.

My end note is utter disappointment in the devs and the game. I am writing this in the heat of the moment, therefore maybe wrote more than ideal, but I am quite astounded by the circumstances.
This thing should have a BASE price of 8€ (and that's generous) and I would still have waited for a sale on top of that.
You can argue that they still got the money at the end of the day, and that they couldn't care less about this random review in the middle of so many positive ones, but if that's what really matters, I have nothing else to add.

I've missed this masterpiece! It's been quite some years since I last played it and it's still the best Hitman game ever. Sooo many possibilities to eliminate targets and so many combinations to the way you can conduct the mission.
Also killing whoever just because you had a spare bullet..
..or you were thinking the carpet would look better in red heh

You know when you wish you could forget a game so you can experience it like the first time you played it?
This is the one for me
I've replayed this game so many times and it amazes me every single one of them.

I've played this game OUT of Steam a couple of times on other devices (PSP, other PC with CD ...) and it really is a unique remake, but this is a review for the STEAM VERSION itself:
90% of people can't go through the game without encountering a game-breaker bug. It's not even something that kinda bothers but you pass the level and it's gone. It's always something that doesn't 'actually' let you go through it. For some people it's right in launch set, for others it's when you've invested 15 hours of gameplay and a certain level is forever doomed not to work.
For me, it was a movement/controls issue. Combat mode locks a direction even when I'm not pressing any keys and Lara usually just falls off an edge and dies because I can't control her run. First enemies you get can be ignored into this, but when you start placing encounters on delicate steep ruins, there's no way around it.

It is a very complete game and it pains me to let it go because of this, but I've really tried everything and I'm just gonna hope my other old wooden pc doesn't fail me on running the original CD I have from when I was a kid.

It's a simple yet great game in various aspects, with even greater developers that I wish Steam would actually give the right recognition to.

The game has been considered a ghost, for example, with the Profile Features restrictions, and it's not fair for that to be the process to consider here.

Games are more than dull statistics and 'Perfect Vermin' has proven to be an example of that. If you actually play through the narrative, you'll understand why.
