Note: I rarely write reviews for games but for Monster Hunter i make an exception.

Overview
Since playing Monster Hunter 3 and Freedom on PSP i have always been a fan of the franchise.
This game not only delivers the nostalgia from previous games but introduces what seems like breakthrough gameplay and mechanics. It can be played fully as a solo player or with other players at any time.

Gameplay
There are hundreds of hours worth of gameplay within the base game before you even take into consideration the Iceborn expansion. There is a decent story with gripping introductions into each monster which will have you on the edge of your seat. Learning a new monster's moves for the first time can be a nerve wracking experience and can take a good while to fully understand. Each monster is unique in its own way which gives the game huge variety in playstyle and strategy.

Graphics
The graphics are amazing and it runs extremely well considering, provided you have a decent graphics card and CPU. With the addition of using the Geforce game filter you can further improve the graphics to get even more immersive fantasy style graphics.

Equipment and Armor
The game has huge variety in the equipment you can use allowing you to chose from 14 different weapon types which can be chosen based on your playstyle. These can then be upgraded further to provide the best options for your upcoming fight. There is no irl money to in game currency meaning everything you do is based on your skill and the resources you find.

Iceborn
The iceborn expansion is essentially a full game in its own right giving you access to an entirely separate storyline and a range of new monsters including interesting variants of previous ones. This gives you hundreds more hours of gameplay without the tedium of repeating the same things over and over. It also gives you new tiers of weapons and armor allowing you to further upgrade everything you have and continue to progress.

Endgame
It is extremely difficult to fully complete this game as there is so much content even after all the assigned and optional quests have been completed. Once it has reached its highest level, all armor and equipment can be further upgraded using the augment feature. This means you can continue your progression and become and REAL monster hunter. Within the Iceborn DLC, there is even a completely new and large map which is only unlocked once you have completed the game. This has its own unique materials which gives you more upgrade options.

Summary
All in all, i have enjoyed every second i have played of Monster Hunter and look forward to all their upcoming updates and new titles. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy style games with a lot of depth and from developers who have considered their fan's wishes and suggestions.
