This game is much different compared to Dark Souls 1-3 and Elden Ring yet still so familiar! It's a signature FromSoftware game, and I'm having a great time with it. It's really hard, but that's to be expected with a game of this nature. :)

I’ve certainly relit the flame of excitement I had for Elden Ring with this DLC. It’s absolutely breathtaking, some gorgeous new areas to explore, new bosses and enemies, awesome new armour and weapons. Some of the bosses in this DLC are genuinely breathtaking. The visceral reactions of amazement I had seeing bosses go into their second phase was such a core memory for this DLC.

This isn’t a negative opinion, though I’d like to state it: the difficulty spike is immediately noticeable and quite jarring. I prepared a character for this DLC, nothing busted to charge my way through it, but something to prepare myself for it. Whilst I haven’t struggled too much, most COMMON enemies dish out far too much damage + take way too little. Some bosses have really difficult attack patterns, where you’re unable to really do any damage before you’ve been slashed once and lost about 50-60%. You’re required to find Scadutree Fragments in order to level your “blessing” to take less damage and deal more to enemies, but they’re pretty sparse! The loot within this DLC is also pretty awful. I’m finding Smithing Stone [4]’s when a requirement to access the DLC is defeating Mohg (who is a late game enemy, you’ll be well past Smithing Stone [4]’s!).

I still love this DLC and I can’t wait to keep playing, but I totally understand why a lot of players feel quite put off of playing this DLC which unfortunately does feel difficult for the sake of being difficult rather than testing your abilities and making you feel rewarded for winning.

Never had the courage to play it because I was always scared lmao, but I decided to give it a go and honestly alongside being scary, it's really fun.

Take one of the best horror experiences that struck the gaming industry, keep the authenticity of the games whilst introducing multiplayer and objective based game play, and you have what has to be Outlast's ultimate successor. Red Barrels have done Outlast so much justice with this game. The trials are really solid, with modifiers to add difficulty where you want it. They don't last too long, and each one adds variety.

I personally loved Outlast 1 and 2 for their unique storytelling and simply for the fact that they're just classic when you think of horror games from the 2010s. It's amazing that the series is getting this modernised multiplayer experience. There were a few delays for this game, but for the polished and incredible game this turned out to be, it was 100% worth it. The progression system is simple and easy to follow. I can't praise this game enough. If you liked Outlast, or are looking for a decent 4-player horror game experience, give this a go. Well worth your money, and I can't wait to see what Red Barrels have in store.

I had a good opinion of this game for a little while, but after some of my friends have had negative experiences with the Project Manager in the Discord server, I don't know if I can keep supporting this game. Any criticism of the game either ends up with you being muted or banned. I believe their name is Nebula and they are a toxic server admin who seems to be completely unhinged. Is completely delusional regarding the bugs in the game and is stand-offish when you mention bugs or criticise the game. Not to mention, Part 3 to this game was incredibly disappointing. Go and play Inside the Backrooms, that game has more intricate puzzles and is actually fun to play. The community for that game isn't that bad either. For starters, it doesn't have an abusive admin who silences people who criticise the game.

When the core mechanic of your game is bouncing, you should maybe play test the game to make sure the bouncing actually works. Countless sprint jumps where 50% of the time, you just don't jump at all and fall off of the edge and have to restart the entire level. Fix it.

Honestly a life changing experience for both the better and the worst.
