This is one of those games that I would describe as a once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Foremost: In order to enjoy this game to its fullest, you have to like reading because the game contains a lot of it. Like a lot a lot of it. At most times, it felt more like an interactive novel than a typical "game".

IF you don't mind reading a lot, this game is a must-buy title (though you should do so on Sale or from some third-party side for cheap, since the original developers got ♥♥♥♥♥ over and cheated out of their own game and its revenue)


For me, a sign of a really special game is when it affects my IRL way of thinking or acting. This game has done this on multiple occasions. The music alone can affect me tremendously. Listening to it instantly puts me in a philosophical mood, thinking about life and everything while at the same time feeling a deep calmness.

The Story caught me from the very beginning. I always wanted to know how it kept going. To solve the next little part of this whole case, to find the next little clue leading me further towards the culprit. In all fairness, there were parts where the game felt a bit slow since you were searching for more clues, BUT those moments were short and didn't affect the overall quality of the game at all. The music alone carries you through those parts with ease. And to be fair, it is a detective game, so some moments of clue-searching around the map were to be expected.

The game has a few systems like the special skill system, the clothing system and the thought cabinet, to freshen up the otherwise entirely reading based experience. Those system while fun to use, don't affect the game too much, aside from stat bonuses and some other minor stuff.

The focus definitely lies on the story and the music, and those are masterful.
It has become one of my all-time favorites quite quickly, and I would give it a strong 9/10.
