When I managed to get my hands on a PS5 in April '21 it was around that time when Returnal was released. As it was a PS5 exclusive it got my attention of course but I was intimidated when the reviews mentioned the challenging difficulty level as I did not want to end up with a frustrating game I might not be able to finish.
It clearly was the right decision to spend money on this jewel of a game.
I'm actually not that much into rogue like/lite/whatever games. Hades for example is okayish for me but never really managed to suck me in. So what makes this so special?
I guess it comes just down to the gameplay itself. The movement, the speed, the weapons, the enemies and of course the atmosphere.
All things combined make for one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had in my life. The movement and weapon handling feel absolutely amazing. Dodging, jumping, shooting, melee, it's all so fluent and fights never feel unfair.
Same goes for the bosses. Yes they are the biggest challenges in the game and usually require multiple tries but they make for a great learning curve and once you adapt to their pattern you will be rewarded with a satisfying victory.

Love this game!

Since I spent nearly 60h in Faerie Solitaire I did not have to think twice about buying the next game from Subsoap's Faerie world. The gameplay has changed a lot since it is a different kind of solitaire compared to the first game but that does not make it any less addictive.
The wildcards and spare space are great additions to adapt your tactics and the art style and soundtrack are absolutely gorgeous.

Highly recommended.

Great graphics and absolutely amazing gameplay. Controls, movement and animation are smooth and fluent, weapon handling and combat near perfection. Easily one of the best Action Adventure games ever made.
And dodging an enemy attack and putting an arrow to the knee (yes, the achievement is a even a reference) has never been so satisfying.
