As fun as the game is, I can't recommend it because the dev broke achievements in a update and abandoned the game before bothering to fix them.

Lets be honest here, people who get this aren't doing it because they want to play vanilla. They're getting it because the game has show itself to be a magnificant base for countless differient sci-fi series that lack RTS games, or at the least fully space-based RTS games.

Want to play a Halo RTS that isn't crap? Get Sins of the Prophets. Want a Star Wars RTS based around space combat instead of planetary combat? You've got three or four mods to choose from. Want a Star Trek RTS? Take your pick. These are some of the most popular options, though their are a few other series that have mods for them.

That said though, the game has been showing its age, ever since launch. It's a 32-bit game, which means that large scale battles aren't happening unless you want the game to grind to a laggy halt. Even with the LAA patch. That Ironclad didn't bother to make a 64-bit version is extremely short sighted - And it's hard to say that they didn't know about the memory issues either, the same thing plagued Trinity. That issue aside though, their really isn't anything bad about the game.

I'd love to see a sequel to this game, but between the flop that was Sins of a Dark Age and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that Rebellion Games pulled the odds of this game getting one are slim.

For all the claims about it being about puzzle solving, finesse, and skill the 'puzzles' starting at section 8 are more luck based than anything.

Expecially puzzle 6. You need to take out both targets simultaniously... But if they move wrong, or suddenly change direction, no amount of finesse is going to prevent you from having to retry that level. And more often then not, you'll be restarting from puzzle 8, which will require you to redo puzzle 7 which itself - exactly like 6 - is more luck than anything.

As much as I like the Mega Man games, I can't really recommend this collection until Capcom bothers fixing the game so it'll work in offline mode.

It's good, if you discount the fact that the game trolls you with the ARC-V campaign... Which is limited to just the tutorial match, with the rest of it being locked behind $50 of DLC.

The game would be good, if it wasn't so laggy or if the recommended ini edits to cut back on the lag didn't make the game crash every five minutes.

And no, it's not a case of trying to run it on a poor computer. I've got a i5-4590, 16GB of ram, and a RX 470. Given the games recommended requirements - A C2Q, 4GB of ram, and a GTX 460, this game should NOT be lagging... Even on high, and especially on low.

With how laggy of a game this is, I'd avoid it even on sale.

Preformance aside, lets look at bugs.

This game issues when it comes to properly reseting checkpoints.

Blow a door, but die right after doing it? Checkpoint respawn will put you to the part where you're supposed to blow the door... However the door doesn't properly reset, and walking into the area the door previously covered doesn't properly advance your mission objectives. Additionally, since the area isn't properly loaded before blowing the door it'll have a number of graphical glitches.

Game recommends you pick up that minigun? Hope you didn't die with it before hand, because it's not going to properly reset so you can pick it up again.

I'm only on the 2nd mission too. Wonder just how many more examples of their are in the game, let alone the rest of the mission?

First match.

Long ranged weapon that can one hit me.

Second match.

Long ranged weapon that can one hit me.

Third match.

Manage to get the drop on the long range weapon ship and... yep, it's using higher-leveled armor plating which prevents my weapons from actually being able to do anything. Queue getting one-shotted.

The game is good in theory, however the poor match making has already turned me off of it. I'll pick it up again, assuming they ever do something to stop new players from getting farmed for easy scrap and xp by higher leveled pre-launch players. Maybe a basic 1v1 mode can be introduced to allow for easier - and fairer - matchmaking?

Edit

Saw that a balance patch was put out. Played more matches, see above for the results. I did find myself up against 2x Battleship matches too, in the rookie ship... Much balance, such not.

Decided to uninstall this. Maybe matchmaking will be balanced in a few months?

Edit 2 - And a few months later the game has lost most of its playerbase and now only pulls a average of 100 players at a time. And what reason do many of those remaining players say is the reason for the games inability to retain new players? Poor balance, new guys end up getting farmed in matches by higher level players, and they end up saying '♥♥♥♥ it, i quit'.

So, yeah... matchmaking. It's kinda important if you want to grow a game like this.

Paid DLC on a early access game.

They haven't even FINISHED the base game, and they're already dedicating time that SHOULD be going towards FINISHING the game to making paid DLC.

This is concerning for one major reason - It points to a severe lack of funds. The company behind this game is no longer drawing enough cash from the game to keep afloat, which points to severe mismanagement of company funds given how many copies of this game sold, so they have to rush out paid DLC to keep the company afloat.

Between the extremely clunky UI and the stupid enemy placements (Many times enemies spawned inbetween walls and junk making for easy kills) you'll hardly notice how retarded the enemy AI is.
