This is not a good game in the slightest. I had so many high hopes coming into this from the Witcher 1, which i can EASILY say is a far better game than this cluster♥♥♥♥. The combat is an uncoordinated pile of trash that is slow, finnicky, and clunky in so many ways. The Witcher games tend to throw you into mass of enemys, usually around 4-5 and Witcher 1 handled this well by adding a group attack style that let you hit multiple enemies from all sides by reducing your total damage and it felt very fluid for what it was. Witcher 2 just tosses this out the window and just leaves you with a very basic quick and heavy attack that does nothing but leave you open for retaliation and forces you to run around like a chicken with its head cut-off until 1 enemy leaves the group and you can just spam down, or use spells to create an ally to just tank all the enemies for you. The problem with using magic in combat is that its not fluid at all. Its slow and mostly short ranged and mostly single target which just further makes the combat feel very boring and aggrivating. All the enemy types are the same variations of a very select few. You have monsters which come in 2 variaties. So slow they are zero threat, and very fast and hardhitting and will swarm you until you drop dead. Human enemies are even worse. You just come across either a swordsman who will block everyone of your attacks unless you do a very clunky parry, attack them in the middle of their attack which they will finish and hit you with, or you just use a spell and break their block and hit them until they die or go back to blocking. There are some archers who just revert to swordsmen when you get near. And then there are mages who have an invincibilty buff and teleport 5 ft away to do absloutly nothing.

I also have a problem with the story. The story follows the same pattern every time. It puts you into a new area with the obvious good and bad guys, gives you monster sidequests, builds up the plot of the area to a climax, makes you feel slightly powerful and impactful and then just drops you into a new area where youre a weak nobody again and feel like youve made 0 progress. Its very boring. It also has the tendency to just namedrop alot of people and expect you to remember them all. The characters are bland and the voice acting is very forced and not engaging at the very least, that is i would be listening if i wasnt distracted by the broken player models. It happens on almost everyone. There is a line in most models between the head of a person and their body, and that line shows very often in cutscenes and dialogue.

The potion effects are very minimal and not very impactful, its very easy to just grab the best items from the area at the beggining of the section which just leaves any sort of progress you would have made in that area feel minor and useless, and the area designs are very confusing and hard to remember, and by the time you get somewhat use to the areas the game just ups and drops you into a new area with a pat on the back and a goodluck.

I very much dislike this game, i can hardly bring myself to finish it because its so boring and clunky and the only reason i feel like even trying to finish is because i want the complete story leading up to the witcher 3 which seems really unnessesary as the only plot points used in this game from the last one are ridiculously minor and unimpactful.
