Early Access Review
one of the best co-op experiences, with plenty of laughs, scares, and a pretty fun set of skills and mechanics to learn simply by playing the game, on top of a great gameplay loop that indirectly rewards teamwork and communication.

the universe, atmosphere, and lore set up so far (as of v63) are also pretty interesting, and completely optional as well. it's there if you go looking for it, and doesn't get in the way of the gameplay whatsoever

A short, but life-changing flash to the past. Very enjoyable, unforgettable, and challenging in all the right ways, especially on Inzane difficulty, with well hidden secrets and fun enemies. I'm hoping to see more honestly.

I can't say enough positive things about this game, it's the first time in my opinion since Sonic Adventure 1 that Sonic has been this extremely fun to control and manuever, and the open-zone format is a fresh change of pace. Having absolute control over Sonic compared to how finicky he acts in the majority of boost games made just running around the world fun!

The story callbacks and the characters, the entire story really is extremely well written and interesting, with heavy lore and canon confirmations of many previous games.

Do wish you could play as more than just Sonic here, but if you're a Sonic fan on the fence about this, this definitely has my recommendation!

[Minor character spoilers in this review.]

An absolutely fun game, it feels like an upgrade over Boneworks in almost every way, though coming off of Boneworks can be a bit of an adjustment.

- Negatives:

I'm not a fan of the inventory nerf, I miss being able to carry small weapons like knives in the pistol slots, and the only time I saw my ammo counts my entire playthrough was when I ran out of rifle ammo. I definitely prefer being able to see my ammo counts at all times by looking down like in Boneworks.

>~ Neutrals:

I hope SL0 considers adding subtitles to this game and their future entries, I love the lore and bits of dialogue in their game but honestly had a hard time catching half of what Jimmy said on the radio through the radio filter and background noise/music, especially if there was an enemy nearby. Had a similar issue on my first playthrough of Boneworks as well, there's nothing immersion-breaking like knowing something important or interesting is being said and being unable to catch a word of it because of no accounting for audio levels or using other solutions like subtitles, which have been done fairly well in other VR games.

I was already familiar with most of the controls coming into Bonelab since I had already played Boneworks, but the lack of a tutorial level like the Museum in Boneworks might confuse some people who start with Bonelab first.

I hope the levels get updated to view your time on the current run, currently you can only see your best time, but I'd want to see what time I can get as specific avatars other than the intended one.

+ Positives:

There's a lot of great things about this game and it definitely has my reccomendation, the new shotguns are definitely a welcome addition, and I love the various modes in the lab, especially the parkour levels personally. The new climbing ledges mechanic can be a little finicky if you're trying to stand on top of something thin, half the time I'll get launched over the other side as if pushed by an invisible force, but it's generally useful and reminds me of the intuitive climbing trick from Boneworks.

The bodylog mechanic is extremely fun to use, leading to both hype and hilarious moments. Strong and Heavy are absolutely fun to wreck in melee combat with, Fast is probably my personal favorite as I love running courses. I think Small had some missed opportunity as their level... doesn't use their size at all? Could've made for some good vent action, maybe stealth even. Playing as Light, I had to prop open the door on the go-kart level with the table to get under it, and it was equal parts hilarious and humbling being such a weak avatar after Strong and Heavy. Tall is interesting, and I was personally hoping there'd be more levels where the bodylog gets messed up and you have to improvise on the fly.

The entire OST is absolutely AWESOME, and i'm looking forward to seeing what content this game gets in the future!

Beautiful game from start to finish, with pretty visuals, fun movement and enviroments which sometimes test your reflexes, and a great journey of a story. The OST is absolutely stellar, and the gameplay manages to stay pretty fresh throughout, there was never a moment where I got bored or too used to any one mechanic.

It's definitely on the shorter side, there's an achievement just for beating the game in under two hours, but I played for 7.4 and didn't even find everything, so if you're in it for the journey with surprisingly tense moments, it's a great one.

P.S: There's a meow button :3

So back in 2009, I was exploring my steam library cause I was bored and had nothing else to do. I saw the Left 4 Dead 2 demo, and checked it out out of curiousity. I don't know how many times I played that demo, but I quickly got addicted to the demo, and bought both L4D1 and L4D2 the same day. L4D as a series became my favorite game of all time, clocking somewhere around 2800 hours in both games combined, and was uncontested as my favorite game series for eleven and a half years.

Then I played Yakuza Kiwami 1 for about 6 hours, and decided now I have a new favorite game series.

Play Yakuza.
