The game itself is great, and the devs are incredible.

Despite the turbulence of explosive success, they managed to stay afloat.
And then, time and time again, they owned up to their mistakes and controversies and worked hard to rectify them — delivering a product that deserves to be a shining example of how to utilize the Live Service Model properly.

For Super Earth, for Super Liberty, for Super Democracy!

A return in style.
I really hope we will get a flourishing modding scene around it; Trials of Providence are such a tease!

The writing pulled me in from the start, and it didn't miss a beat.
Even the most mundane emails were oozing with worldbuilding. Walking that thin, thin line between too much and too little, they provide great reason to keep playing.

And it's not the only thing that enamoured me - as smooth and witty as the flirting with NPCs is, the portrait art boosts it even further.
And, really, not only do I have a robot cat named QWERTY, but it independently constructed a relaxation area for me and looks like that? Amazing. Absolutely wonderful. All the pets for the goodest blep.
The cat is cute; the folks are neat; the alien ruins look alien enough. The whole terrain is nice - one of the best parts of discovering the 3 "unusual" materials was seeing these beautiful geodes being mined down and revealing deeper layers.

The shape of the watering tool makes intuitive sense, and it introduces an additional, optional challenge for the players - plant and water the crops in such a way as to minimize the water used.
It's not that hard, but it does require some deliberation - and is far more rewarding than simply watering it all one square at a time!
Gives big hopes for the implementation of other minigames - and who knows, maybe upgraded tools?

Overall, I can see it being a great game I will happily come back to again and again as it develops.

Really, go check it out!

A great game, distilling XCOM-like combat to the most fun parts. It's challenging and requires thought, but it never feels unfair or random. It felt like a puzzle - take your time, and you will be fine, rush ahead, and you are dead.
You have to move forward, though, or you may soon find yourself overwhelmed - and the balance between the two relies heavily on the team you bring. And even in the quiet moments, it really feels like scrambling in the middle of the combat, the calm before the storm.

The simple graphics have plenty of charm, and the vibe art direction creates fits well with the rest of the game. I especially like how in just a few upgrades, many weapons go from a bit shabby-looking to elegant and stylish. It's almost as pleasurable as the better killability you get!

The maps are also fun to look at, and thanks to a smart map generation system, no two runs are quite the same.
They indeed sell the "city during war" theme, especially with all the fresh bodies everywhere, human and rat alike.
Nothing felt like it was there for the game's sake, and having every wall or shelf be a potential cover meant that battles could be fought almost everywhere.
That often was the case, so identifying and securing a valuable strategic position could be the difference between survival and starting a new attempt.

It's one of these titles that don't need to rely on extrinsic motivation to keep you playing, and I am hoping we will get to revisit this setting in the future - after the developer gets some well deserved rest.

Go play it!

At the time of writing (December 28, 2022) there is already A LOT of content.
The game is in very active development, and I do recommend it overall. But it is getting better and better each month, so I would wait with a full playthrough till it's closer to release.

Still, I had a blast, and I will be returning.

Both physics and wand making complement crazy, explosive gameplay. And secret objectives and zones open whole new way to play once you completed the mountain

It's very nice to find decent story in crafting game. I imagine it would be even better experience in multiplayer.
