Not what I expected. It's as if Portkey took the lore of the books, and the visuals of the movie series and then went their own way with those two markers as inspiration. There aren't any cash grab nostalgia tactics, the characters and storylines are completely new. The combat is a frantic flow of manipulation with utility spells and devastation with your elemental and archaic magicks. With the perfectly captured ambiance of the larger than expected map and the unique "well of course it is" charm of the Wizarding World, Hogwarts Legacy definitely delivers on more than was promised. A breath of fresh air in an otherwise crowded recycling bin of old IP's.

Movement and combat is a little clunky; however, the story and the unique leveling mechanic by far make up for somewhat antiquated game engine.
