Despite the difficulties of development during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns and beyond, Guild Wars 2 still remains as a contender for best MMO, in almost every metric - by far the best aspect of it is how it balances the content available to you, while also allowing you to play as little or as much as you want, due to a horizontal-progression based system. Your level and your equipment maxes out at 80, but there are so many viable variations and skins that there is always something to do, something to hunt for - and this has created an MMO who's players are largely supportive and eager to help out or group up with new players or old players who just havent been around to learn the ins-and-outs of particular sections of the game.

Would strongly recommend picking up the Heart of Thorns + Path of Fire expansion if you are curious, as that will provide you with a huge amount of content to work through - though it does miss out on not having Seasons 2 and 3 to provide deeper context to the start of each of the expansions.

Promising, and fun to play, yet in the face of the of the deluge of gameplay and monetization flaws, I cannot recommend this as a long-term play.

It has maintained the tight and fun gunplay that you would expect from Halo, however hits can be really sloppily registered, exacerbated by latency issues, almost as bad as Destiny. Punches are supposed to be onehit kills from behind, or two in the face, however many times you will have to punch someone multiple times in order to kill them, even without overshields. Sometimes you will snipe someone in the face, hear the headshot click, see the reticle flash on the screen, but no kill is recorded.

The monetization is predatory. The pvp challenges are heavily predatory, relying upon a strong sense of FOMO - and how can you not? You go into the game thinking "I just want to play some Halo, I'm not going to get tempted by that build-a-spartan stuff", but after a few matches of seeing challenges pop, you think "hell, why not, it's there, I am clearing some of them" - before long it is "I need to kill 10 people with plasma rifles even though the gun sucks, and is compounded by the fact the gun isn't made to kill people, only break shields, but hey, if I do this and 3 more challenges, I'll get a slightly different kneepad!" - actively pulling you away from playing the game not only the way you want to play the game, but the way the game is meant to be played too. Now you have a challenge for 5 killing sprees in Fiesta, a gameplay for chaos, but what do you do? You crouch in the corner with an energy sword and s7 sniper, because youre at 1/5 sprees. SO CLOSE to finishing!

The game actively goes out of its way to make you want to hate the game, but be unable to stop, because there's only x amount of time left in the week to complete these goals for when maybe, some far off time in the future, it is less-predatory, less-frustrating, less-disappointing. It doesn't make the goals readily attainable in a reasonable period of time, but rather wants you to waste ALL your time in the game.

You can say "Oh but the people who LOVE Halo, who live and breathe it should get rewarded for their time spent - sure, but forcing people who live and breathe Halo but have work, family, and life obligations to spend more than 5-10 hours on the game is a kick in the teeth. The 20-40hours+ a week crew still get daily xp. Still get to practice more with the weapons. Still get to burn through achievements like a plasma grenade through a pack of grunts. Dont gatekeep - expect better from 343 and Microsoft. Player retention will be better if you dont burn people out in 2 weeks.

An amazing cinematic game with enthralling plot, locations, and atmosphere. Gameplay and combat is fun, if not a little unwieldy at times, though likely to force you to switch between powers and weapons on the fly.

Another fantastic TD that builds on the near-perfection of previous entries. I don't know how Game in a Bottle keeps eclipsing themselves like this.

Hopoo Games need to get this game patented because they just invented time travel... again.

It only works one way, but it's still worth it!

Do you not like metroidvania's that are in a class of their own, far surpassing the progenitors of the genre?

Do you abhor the intense thrill of your hero only being an incredibly mortal, flawed, human in a dangerous RPG world?

Do you just plain hate fun?

I don't care if you answered yes or no to any of the above questions; you should still buy Rogue Legacy 2! Because while you can't take your hard-earned gold with you when you board the ferry to sail across the river of life, you can, however, take your cherished experiences - so, sale or no sale, when you buy Rogue Legacy 2 it's still, pun entirely intended, a steal.

Do not waste your time.

While the gunplay is very satisfying on a click-to-click basis, Destiny is an FPS with RPG/MMO elements, so unless you are appropriately geared, your clicks wont do much to enemies. In general, this is not too much of an issue in regards to "power level " of gear, however as time goes on in this game, you will be unable to upgrade your favourite weapons to keep in line with the required power level of an area/enemy. The droprates of some of the more popular weapons can take some people up to YEARS to get, meanwhile, every 6 months or so, they will become weaker and weaker as the games literal power creep moves past them, rendering any time grinding in game meaningless, and quite likely becoming a bar-to-entry for content such as ranked PvP. This is a large kick in the pants to players who do not have multiple hours a day to grind out "meta" weaponry each new season.

If you play for story, Bungie constantly leaves previously a-plot storylines dangling in favour of a new a-plot. Develops b-plot stories and leaves them not even half explored.

You have to pay to engage with the seasonal events in any meaningful manner, otherwise you will get locked out of getting seasonal equipment in any realistic fashion, again creating a bar to entry for many activities.

I regret being constantly convinced to rejoin the game after numerous seasons pass because truly the game has not improved since Forsaken, and Forsaken only somewhat brought the quality of the game back into parity with Destiny 1's quality and range of activities, but even now it is still not there.

I'd say best of luck, but the system is very much geared towards extorting a Free-To-Play-MMORPG level of time+money out of you.

Why can't I quit you?!

If you play more than a few hours of this, it will ruin every other FPS/TPS game for you; the joy of free movement in this game just surpasses anything else. While it is far from the only thing this game has to keep you hooked, you'll constantly come back to it just to fly through the maps, obliterating everything in your way - an experience that pretty much every other shooter fails to live up to in this age.
