To others who this might be of concern: Citizen Sleeper is not woke, in spite of looking like it might be. There is one obligatory they/them character and that's it. You will be able to enjoy this story free of moral pandering and away from the contemporary Western progressive agenda. Great work by the writers.

[This is my fourth of fifth time playing this game] Far Cry 5 could have been the best entry in the series, considering how much it had going for it. Unfortunately, one design choice prevented that: forcing multiple unskippable cutscenes to play out of nowhere once you make relatively little progress. These scenes interrupt gameplay, often teleport you to unrelated locations, and mostly feature dull enemy monologues, especially since the protagonist is silent this time. Does it ruin the game? A bit. I’d love to say it doesn’t, but it actually does.

Everything else is basically top-notch. Gameplay is smooth and progressing your character and their goals feels rewarding. Shooting has a fun arcade feeling, and different playstyles are viable, all the way from stealth to the rocket launcher approach. The cult setting in rural U.S. is great, delivering a distinctly different biome than Far Cry 3 and 4. The plot would actually be quite decent if it wasn't told is such a shoddy and frustrating way. At the time of release, the ending was bashed in general, but it's actually a strong and interesting conclusion to the story.

This is still a positive review, because the game really is worth playing, but you can't help but wish that they had structured things differently, as it woiuld have been a bona fide all-time classic.

Great game that manages to present something close to a speedrun-based Mega Man in which the character does not directly attack. The game puts emphasis on precision platforming with very grounded, non-slippery controls, and that works out really well. Recommended.

Why is this game so boring even on Streamlined mode? Why do I have to force myself to play it? It`s just how it is. It plods along, always looking really sharp, but never really becoming an interesting experience. It's a shame, because the art really is incredible, but there is not enough gameplay or an interesting story to back it up. I actually had more fun with the minigames that seem to have been thrown in for good measure than with the rest... the developers could just take this framework and these assets and make something more focused on those and it would be much more fun.

I promised I would buy if Ubisoft added achievements. They added achievements. All good. Really enjoying the game.

Don't bother. Play the vastly superior "The Timeloop" DLC instead.

Finally a good DLC. Feel free to skip the others and focus on this one instead. The quality is far superior and it actually captures the essence of what made the original game great.

Something I had not seen written anywhere is that when using a controller you will need to use your analog stick as a crude standard Windows mouse pointer. The people who ported this did not bother to actually adapt the UI to work in a normal way. When I first booted the game, I actually thought this was a bug of some sort. Refunded.

A charming game that is wholesome but still has a bit of an edge to it. The controls are simple and smooth, and being a little crow is just a lot of fun. The developers seem to have wanted to release something chill that people could have some mindless fun with, and that works out in the game's favor.
