More and more we see (successful) games ported from iOs to PC and this game also falls in that category. Often the port shows, especially when a game uses 3D models. However in this case the port is just excellent. This is due to the great mechanics, visual style and the way you (can) play the game.

You basically are a thief that has to do his tricks in 70+ levels by hitting the right buttons at the right time. Most of the time you walk to a point where an action appears that you have to do. Think about grabbing something, use an item or hiding in a barrel.

This sounds simple, and it is in the beginning. The difficulty gradually goes up and later on you have to time your actions correctly and in order to complete the level. Most levels have extra bonuses and a fret you have to detect to get the maximum score of three stars. When you complete your main objective you can run for the exit. But watch out, because when they see you you can try again.

Levels take a maximum of 5 minutes to complete so the size of the bite is great and I often start it up when I had nothing to do for 10 minutes or so.

Graphics are nicely done having a cartoonish look, sound is great and there is lots of humour around. Just buy it and enjoy the puzzles I say!

Rating: Poor

This game was a bit of a disappointment. When a game implements a certain style and feel it should be done right and with lots of details. This game fails to achieve just that and fails to deliver. It just feels not done and rushed, and those things keep it from being an enjoyable game. A few examples:

It starts with the resolution itself, some weird low-res 1000 x 800, not widescreen but not 4:3 either. The graphics are cell-shaded but done very generic and it looks just bad. The effects for water, fire and particles are dx6 or something.

The sound is also not very good and sound rather cheap. The voices are rather cheesy and lipsinc is not in sync (understatement). Music is ok but gets annoying quickly.

When you move it feels like you are very small because you are a bit close to the ground. You interact with things when your dot changes to a hand. That's about it what you can do.

The story is a bit weird; you wake up outside a castle, run around a bit and faint again, wake up and look at a pre-2000 character model that asks you questions and it feels like they know a lot about you although they just found you outside the gate. Pretty weird.

The story path is very linear, just look up things and use then to pass a gate. That's about it. Plenty of better games around and I suggest you stay away from this 'game'.

Race The Sun
Rating: 8 / 10

Beat the sun by racing your ship through the obstacles and picking up stuff to make you jump, go faster and enhance your score with only one goal: to keep flying.

Minimalistic racer that keeps you starting over and over again after you hit another object. You always start at the beginning of the level (resets after 24 hours) so after a while you know where to go and to pick up your powerups. The races are fairly short but that makes you try it over and over again. Levelling up is also pretty ok as you get 3 goals to achieve and you have to get 4 goals to get to the next level. You then get additional stuff like the ability to jump or double jump, better multipliers and enhancements to your ship like magnets to pick up powerups. Pretty decently done and I definitely recommend the game to all!

So get it and race!

Typing of The Dead: Overkill

In for a crazy story combined with some fast paced typing? Load up Typing of the Dead! Have quick fingers or die so not for the two-finger typists. Finally a game where I can put my fingers to the test, typing my way to Papa Ceasar's death. Mohaha!

Typing this with the speed of light to stay alive, no backspace allowed.

Tales of Maj'Eyal

Dived into this for about 2 hours, and it drops you in a rogue-like sprite-based fantasy world with quests, monsters, loot and a huge amount of achievements to be scored. Got through the first few screens and solved a few quests but still no achievement. It plays and feels like a standard game, nothing really special but I suppose I only scratched the surface because the potential is there. Expect no quick rewards but a lot of depth and width in options and the rewards you get from digging in.

For this price you can have a lot of hours full of exploration and fun.

Rating: Ok

Santa's had bad a bad day and unloaded his guns on his elves. You have to clean up the mess after he left to deliver some packages. Pretty funny game in the Viscera's series. Fun for a while but it soon gets a bit boring. As you are a lot of time in the same space and virtually nothing happens other than you wiping the floor. The handling of all the stuff is a bit cluncky so you now and then kick your own bucket and you can start over again. Like the real life of a janitor I suppose.

One annoying thing to mention is that you cannot save the game so if you want to clean the whole place you better reserve some time. You also don't have an indication about your progress other than the stuff you don't see anymore. The 'real' game is still in alpha so i guess this 'by-product' shows the state of the game at the moment. Fun for a little while.

A classic game that has set standards for a lot of action rpg's to follow. This game was in 2005 ahead of it's time and still holds up pretty well these days. Play as a young boy or girl with a pet of choice and descent into the caves next to the town. Classic diablo-like structure but colorfull and lots of nice touches. A direct precessor of the Torchlight series, this one is not to be missed. Now go out and play, hack, slash and loot!

Rating: Poor

Well, I played this game for 20 minutes and was not able to defeat the dummy. Partly because I'm colorblind and got the green and red stars and stones mixed up, partly because the mechanics are really confusing.

It looks like tetris on it's side and you have to match stars with stones to make them dissappear. Throw some skulls in the mix and you are able to push a line towards your opponent, and if you do this good enough you win. This mechanic really stinks and is NOT FUN.

Graphics are sub-par and cheesy, the sound and music is average. Story is non-existent.

Alien Shooter

Horrible. That is what the gameplay is.

Shoot the green aliens, but don't forget to moonwalk backwards
You control a character that can shoot and bump into things so things happen. Think of opening doors and flipping switches. But this guy can do more! He can rotate his upper body without moving his lower body. At least in the original, in the revisited he can still do some weird twists but his feet will point more or less into the right direction. In the revisited version however he can moonwalk and move without moving his feet. Floating is perhaps a better word. And often he floats out of the screen and is nowhere to be seen. By you the player that is, the aliens have no problem finding him.

So you move your character with the keyboard of right mouse button while shooting with your left. I thought Diablo3 was mindless clicking, well this is his master! Aliens rush at you and you just have to point in the right direction to shoot them while walking backwards. Nothing wrong with that, but if the guy only would walk the way you want him to go! You have to constantly correct his direction. Probably he is busy shooting...

You can blow things up. Only don't stand too close or shoot it accidentally and you are dead. At least in the original, in the revisited version it is somewhat better.

All the while you can upgrade your armor and stuff you carry. Plenty to be found in those silent buildings.

Another thing is that the original has 2 fixed graphic resolutions. Oh well, it's older. But the revisited also has these... Bizar. The graphics are somewhat better but that's about it. Highest resolution is 1024 x 768. How old can you get...

In the end this was one of the worst games I played in my life. A mindless alien top-down shooter should not be so hard to make, at least to get the physics right of you puppet. If even that fails, the only option left is to hit the uninstall button.

Crysis Warhead

This game is the extension of the original Crysis and follows the story from the viewpoint of Psycho. The game plays like the original with a few enhancements to the engine. The vehicles are a bit better and the graphics are a bit sharper. Story is much more focused and sometimes makes a few leaps. Game is also shorter than the original but contains very good cinamatics. One of the best I ever saw. Definitely a winner and a must if you played the original Crysis.
