While not the most original RPG out there it does have its moments. They did a decent balance of humor with the story albeit very predictably. The ferrize thing though is just way over the top, but ignoring that and the fact they did it that way on purpose for the story and humor it is worth playing. I mostly enjoyed the interatctions between Tiara and Fang. And the side story with Apollonius wasn't bad, but I wish they did more with it. Don't get me started on the weird guy in the animal suit... Story wise the main complaint I had is the way the handled the main town. The conversations with the locals were all pointless and did not really endear you with the story, but personally I felt like I had to read it in case there was some subplot that would show up.... sadly they did not really take advanatage of that and no quests from any of the common characters ever occured.

Gameplay itself is pretty mediocre. Reason I say that is because really pretty much through 95% of the game I was just spamming attack + skip, ferrize + skip, attack + skip. This game definitely did not focus on strategy. Most of the time I got through battles without losing any characters because I just focused on stunning the monsters with combos so I would end up getting the game to trigger the event to get other party members to get a whack in. This even worked on bosses. I would generally advise not to buy the DLC that provides the armors unless you want to have two characters be nearly invulnerable for 60-75% of the storyline game. I'm telling you those armors are way overpowered! Don't get me started on the other DLC's where if you want the stat boost at all your characters are in towels?!?!

Now the one thing I really do have to say was a decent idea for the battlesystem and that was the combos mechanic. It really did let me choose a moveset that I could get the maximum amount of damage. The main problem with the combo system is due to how much time it takes to play thing game (and how much I was spamming skip) I ended up only using the same moveset over and over and ignoring any of the other possibilities because 90% of the time the moveset I chose for the A button worked, so there was no reason to choose any of the other choices. I never really used any magics at all except for healing as it wasted more time than it was worth in most cases.

Lastly the questing system at the bar is seemingly pointless. The amount of griding that is needed is rather sad. The rewards do not even cover the time spent on the task in many cases. Once you get to the C important mission I was stuck for a long time because I didn't check to see if there was a way to synth the ingredient.. figured I would pick it up somewhere.... wrong.

Bottom line I would rate the game as a C

Story C+
Gameplay D
Amount of Gameplay A-

If you're bored I would recommend it, but there are better choices out there such as "Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, The" etc.

Great game for killing your day. Very intuitive and pretty fun. If you play it right you can beat it in a few sittings.
