Stellaris is a lot like Rome Total War in my opinion without the fighting strategy. Each fight is simulated and based upon ship upgrades/power. I would recommend this game but beware it will absolutely be overwhelming at first. Their are many aspects that thousands of hours can't even teach. If you do play... One thing I learned is never automate your planets. If you conquer a planet from another empire rebuild it. They are built horribly by AI and can throttle your economy.
