Even if it's not made by valve, since they are still not releasing HL3, this is canon for me now.

Also why is this free?

Finally a new Half-Life game. Even if this is a prequel (a very nice one story wise), HL Alyx is worth playing if you're a fan of the HL games. At first I was a bit thrown off that is was VR only, but in the end I was happy to play a new HL game and the VR capabilities are really well used in the gameplay.
