A really cool idea but the controls are way too clunky and the tutorials hardly explain anything, forcing you to have to look online to figure out what the hell you're supposed to do

This games makes be angry because

A: It shows that a AAA studio can make an amazing game even in Current Year

B: It shows that Lucas and Spielberg had ideas for non-♥♥♥♥♥♥ Indy movies all this time and never made them

It's a shame that everyone over-memed "The cake is a lie" for a decade because pretty much every line of dialogue in this game is an absolute banger

It's a good idea, but the execution is very poor and holds the game back from any sort of positive comments

-Add clarification to what does and does not need refrigeration. Unopened cans of ketchup and mayo shouldn't need to be refrigerated but will self-delete if not put in the walk-in

-S L O W D O W N. The pace is far too hectic for 1-2 people. Either allow AI employees from the start, or slow down time, because it's just not physically possible to satisfy all orders before customers get impatient and walk out. Also the cook time on the burgers passes far too quickly, especially if you're trying to multitask. Additionally, it should be more obvious that a burger is burnt

-Labels. Once you wrap a burger, there is no way to know what is on it. This causes things to get out of hand in short order. Additionally it should be possible to unwrap a burger. There were so many time in the beginning when I'd place a crown on the table instead of the burger and wrap it, wasting everything

-There should be a way for the grill to clear orders from the screen more easily. I noticed one table has orders in ascending chronological order, and another in descending chronological order. The screen as it currently is is bugged; sometimes orders would collapse on their own, forcing me to go through and see once one to open. Lastly, it may be beneficial to only have the table number, and not display needless information (drinks, ice cream, etc) that the grill does not need

All in all, let this one cook

Let's get this out first: The YouTube reviewer community really hyped this up to be the next Valheim. It is the furthest thing ever from Valheim. It's more of a colony manager along the lines of Medieval Dynasty with some Ark or Conan Exiles thrown in. Combat can generously be called clunky and you will spend more time sorting seeds and repairing buildings than exploring the world.

There's lots of poor design decisions. The controls are very poorly thought out. There are two different buttons for picking up one item (E) and picking up several of the same item (T). There is a third key for placing an item into a construction (R). You can interact with workbenches and add-ons to buildings, which sounds in-depth, but more often than not you will spend more time trying to get the context keys for the thing you're looking at or just opening the wrong menu.

The AI requires a lot of handholding. Resource gathering requires markers - physical markers that need to be built in the world by you. Once workers deplete their area, they will stop working until you physically build another marker. It would be much less aggravating to just set the markers on your map (representing you telling them where to work). Furthermore, for example, woodcutters do not care about wood storage beyond filling their own tiny lumber camp storage. This leads to an insane amount of litter because you would have to micromanage your warehouse workers to pick it all up.

Workers also cannot make their own tools, needing you to give the tools to them directly or to have a toolmaker make them. But that is the crux of the AI's problems. Here's an example scenario: You set your toolmaker to make pickaxes. He makes them and fills up his workstation's storage. Your warehouse workers take those pickaxes and put them in the warehouse. The toolmaker thinks we're out of pickaxes and makes more. The warehouse workers take those pickaxes and put them in the warehouse. Repeat until you have a warehouse full of pickaxes and no tool parts left. Crafters don't know "global" storage, only knowing what is in their production building, meaning you the player need to know how much of everything you have and micromanage from there.

Workers will take resources from wherever they can. This will lead to things like your bloomery worker stealing coal from your blacksmith, leaving your blacksmith with none. There should be a logical production chain where "crafters" only take resources from "gatherers" and communal storage. Also you will lose entire harvests because your citizens will hoard food instead of only eating from the kitchen or taking what they need. Yes, you can whitelist who can take what from where, but this ends up in loads of even more micromanagement.

Every building involves a ton of resources. These resources take a ton of time to gather. The tools to gather these resources take a ton of materials. These materials take a ton of resources. These resources take a ton of time to gather. Don't get me wrong, if you love that in-depth supply chain style of gameplay and have ample free time, there's definitely something here for you. However, if you're expecting more of a free-builder or more casual gameplay, you will not find it here. Worst of all, buildings will constantly take damage from weather and will eventually need to be repaired, which can become expensive if not immediately taken care of. There is no way to upgrade your buildings to where they resist the weather; they will always be these somewhat flimsy shacks.

There isn't a whole lot in the way of colony management tools. As it is, the system is fine for 10-12 villagers, but once you get into the 40-50+ range, some sort of management system or automation is necessary because you'll quickly lose track of who's doing what, whether an important worker died, etc.

There are raids and "Blood moons" which quickly ramp up to monsters that will slaughter your citizens. There is a harsh winter that you will need to be prepared for. With the default settings, you will have to play extraordinarily precisely in order to survive because you hardly have enough time to prepare for either. Fortunately, you can extend season lengths in order to get more time to build up your town, but you shouldn't have to.

I really want to love this game, but the in-progress AI and a lot of questionable design choices hold me back from a thumbs up. The combat and exploration isn't enough to satisfy the Valheim itch, but the colony management isn't up to snuff for that genre either; it tries to do both, and in doing so, fails to do either well. If you love micromanagement sims and more hardcore, in-depth gameplay, there's definitely something here for you, keeping in mind this isn't even the best example of this genre. If you're coming here thinking this is Valheim+, you're going to leave very, very disappointed and frustrated.

The characters are modern Millennial Quirky, and the art aesthetic is highly appealing, but it all leads to a whole lot of nothing. The protagonist is completely immature and insufferable, like a 2010's Holden Caulfield. The main conflict takes forever to ramp up, leading you to believe this will actually be a longer, substantial game. The resolution, however, comes very rapidly and, unless I missed something, is completely out of left field. Also there's a lot of unresolved plot points, like Chekhov's Gun was loaded with a full mag and only fired a couple times.

I can understand why some may find this game good, but it's not for me.

They draw you in with the dino riding, but it's just a low-effort asset flip. I thought it was gonna get better but it doesn't. You make a gun but don't even make ammo for it.

Low-effort Unity asset flip. Looks like every other survival game from the past five years. You can't even deconstruct your buildings after placing.
