Twice now I've tried to play this game. Unfortunately, the tutorial itself has stopped me from proceeding. I get my first weapon, and fight my way to the next group easily enough. Then my primary weapon is disabled and I'm told how to attack unaware enemies, but the enemies are aware of me. I can't attack them, so I run to the next area and pick up a secondary weapon. It isn't auto-equipped, and I'm not told how to equip it, but I am told how to shoot it. Now I can't attack with primary or secondary weapon. I'd actually like to know these things, so I try to go into options to find the keystrokes I need, only to be met with a perpetual loading screen. I'm out.

This is one of the most delightful games I've ever played. It's simple, yet complex. It's relaxing, yet keeps you thinking about limits on time. The slow build of gear keeps you working for more. It has elements of Farmville, Nethack, and dating simulators, with fishing thrown in for good measure. All the best games have fishing. The NPCs each have their own story, and many are potential spouse material for your own farmer. Play it, and you'll keep coming back.

I've been playing this game for years now, since it was in beta. A lot of changes have happened over the years, some good, some not so good, and some great. There is no other game like Planetside 2. No other game allows hundreds of players to fight on the same continental battlefield, and potentially in the same actual battle, with fights flowing from base-to-base like this one does.

Here's the first thing you need to know. The initial learning curve is high, and the tutorial just doesn't tell you everything you need to know. Join a squad, tell them you're a newbie, and you'll get good information on how to play. The second thing you need to know? You're going to die. You're going to die a LOT. Planetside lets you get right back into the battle. Winning a battle often has more to do with getting rid of spawn logistics than it does with actually killing other players. Of course, you have to fight your way to the spawn logistics first. The third thing? Your weaponry as a brand-new player is just as good as the weaponry experienced players have. You might not have the upgrades like sights, compensators, or ammo types. You just need to learn how to properly use the weapon you have, and you'll do well. That takes practice.

Oh, and watch out. Not only are there other infantry at those fights, but there may be armor shelling from outside the base and aircraft raining fire from above. It all happens at once, and it is glorious.

I picked this up in a pretty early state. The idea is that you build individual stores, stock them with good, staff them, and then watch the customers arrive. You can build stores as standalone buildings, or as part of a larger mall building. The challenges of building a mall are a lot of fun, and you can burn quite a bit of time on the project.

Pay attention to your needs chart. As you grow, so do the needs of the community. You'll want to build stores to meet these needs. That, in-turn, creates needs in other areas as the community grows. Sometimes you might want to run a busy soda shop at a loss, especially if it helps draw customers to your high-profit camera store. There's never enough fast food for these people, either, and that's a great way to make a buck. Oh yeah, and don't forget to hire enough janitors to keep up with the messes those people leave everywhere. Mess attracts rats, and rats multiply.

I've had a blast playing this game in pre-release. I can't wait to see how it develops further. I'm enjoying the replay value. Definitely worth buying.
