I'm a newbie audiophile, my preferred closed cans are the Audio Technica's M40x with Brainwavz's sheepskin. Open cans: Philips Fidelio X1.
If you're on a budget and want clean, overwhelming bass, get the Philips SHL3300's.
My daily drivers are the Fiio F5's. Love the shouty mid range.
Semi-open cans: Superlux 668b's: hilarious levels of detail, only 39 bucks on Amazon. AKG M220.
On ear: Philips Fidelio M1 mk2.
Open cans: Philips Fidelio X1 and Aizer AZ-A700 (Japan Import).
