New characters feel very half-baked and most of the new items have borderline no synergy with the vanilla/void items. The new levels have little to no variation in them like the basegame/void levels, and the bugs are absurd. Gearbox has destroyed this franchise and will continue to do so.

one of the most enjoyable games I have played in the last 2 years just for Capcom to absolutely ruin it with DRM. Don't buy it and don't endorse their AWFUL new policies on modding and DRM.

The only Tales game I've dropped. Combat just takes painfully long ages with bosses that have hyperarmor which is impossible to break and just not really fun to fight. It doesn't help that the story slows down immensely into the 2nd half of the game. I was really excited for this title, but it just ended up feeling like a game that was not Tales outside of the encounter system.

Completed one playthrough and going through NG+.

From the perspective of someone who's first AC experience was 2 as a kid, and someone who grew up LOVING the 3rd gen of AC games, especially Silent Line this game feels like the 3rd generation refined with everything From could possibly think of to make the gameplay of those games even more dynamic and open. The level design in particular, once you get to exploring the caves of Rubicon in chapter 4 it feels like I'm exploring and surveying this uncharted territory, an idea which has not been touched upon too much in the franchise since Silent Line, and like the Silent Line once you're exposed to all its secrets, you cant turn back without changing the fate of all of Rubicon, and I have to say that my first choice of ending felt immensely satisfying to go for. I cant really say too much about the gameplay, it feels fluid and super refined with a lot of the clunk taken out of the controls to ensure you have every weapon available (I'm using type B controls which I find very comforting and similar to the best control scheme of AC4/4A. It takes a lot of elements from every game and packages them into a game very easy to get into. I cannot hide that I waited incredibly long for this game and am probably blinded to a few flaws, but overall I am enjoying the hell out of this game and think it stands up there with 2, 3, 3SL, and 4A as not just one of the best AC games, but one of the best From games they've ever made.
