TLDR:
Pros:
-Vivid environments
-Interesting puzzle-based exploration
-Tough but rewarding
-Unique AI of the other creatures of the world
-Interesting methods to encourage players to discover movement "tech".

Cons:
-Minimalism sacrificed details
-Can be feel like stuck in some BS situations at times
-By that, I mean sometimes getting caught between alot of enemies without a lot of options.
-IOT to escape this bad situations, I recommend pacing. Don't force yourself into worse spots out of anger, and don't be afraid to try more dangerous routes if you deem it necessary.
-Slightly "janky" movement due to the physics nature of the game.

. . .

Warning: This game is not for the faint of heart.

. . .

Okay, so you're still here. Awesome!

Let me get you started.

Your priority first and foremost is survival!
What keeps you alive? Food, Safety, and Shelter; in that order.

Find food first, find ways to keep yourself safe, and find security to hide away from the rain.

Okay, so you got the hang of that? Good. Your little yellow friend will give ya some guidance on the story next.

He doesn't speak very often but when he does, it is *very* minimal. Bare-bones necessities of what ya need to know.
Don't get carried away or you might find yourself in some trouble. Doing what our little friend shows us, and we get rewarded for our efforts with story bits, characters, and imagery of the life our little slug-cat and the world around him.

Vivid and interactive world with its own ecosystems and characters. Find a way to survive and thrive in this world.

A lot has changed in this game.

Optimized graphic output and customization,
Single-player to multiplayer, multi-player to cross-platform multiplayer.
The addition of vehicles and mounts.
ETC.

What I can say simply is that this game is at least worth $20-$30 to try it out. It has obtain greater fidelity, improved control systems and quality of life features, and has proven that the developer *BELIEVES* in this project. At bare minimum the dedication to see this project through is praiseworthy.

TLDR:

Fun Space Ex/Odessy. Explore the universe, build bases, engage with the alien lifeforms, combat enemies on the ground, air, and space, and work together friends to conquer many challenges and enemies alike.

Whether your piloting your capital ship in a beautiful space epic, or dealing with tense diplomatic relations with the local populace, this game has many aspects to be explored.

Give it a chance, go in with an open mind, and explore limitless possibility.

Modding. This game is one of the many games that validate the "PC master-race". You can pretty much do whatever you want in this game.

Grindy to be quite honest. If you like hardcore, rogue-like, bullet-hell's, then this game is for you and the community is well... the core community is always dropping goodies and respect so... yea. Awesome community. Playing with friends is also great for dungeon crawling (although I think aspect needs some work).

TLDR: New player? Talk, join a talkative friendly outfit, learn, profit. Older vet? Return, partake in battle, communicate with devs about issues, teach the youngsters to lead so you don't have to (as much), and satisfy your [REDACTED].

I finally got rid of my potato computer to play this game in high settings and it is great. Where to start? New player experience? It think thats a good place:

What should I do when first loading into the game?

Take a few minutes to either go through the tutorial and learn the game. If you don't you *will* miss out on basic mechanics of the roles, the weapons, and the team-play. The jist of the game is that their are three factions fighting on a literal continent for control of territory and resources. With that being said, it is three TEAMS, and there are no "silent" teams. Learn to use the voice macros and text, if you don't have a mic and if you do, join an outfit. Those guys have the "salty vets" with the knowledge and know how to sharpen and hone your skills even at the lowest level.

What about all the guns, and weapons that everyone has? Are those guns OP and isn't it pay to win?

No and no. The salty vets have unlocked very specific *SITUATIONALLY BASED* weapons. Yes you CAN pay for the weapons, but you don't have to, especially if you learn to work with a platoon or a squad. The cert currency is based more on how much you help your team. Engineer and Medics are great for getting the first few thousand certs, especially at high pop fights.

Moreover, the starting weapons are the most among the most versatile. If you can learn to shoot and move so that you are only taking on 1on1 or 1on2 fights (fights equally for or in your favor), you can actually outplay many weapons.

Performance and bugs, is the game buggy and what about content and community interaction with the devs?

The game is seven years old, so some of the textures show age, but the lighting system and the recently implemented Dx11 ("Aren't we on Dx12 now?" Yes; little steps) give great lighting for cinematic and epic battles. It is never completely bug free, but compared to some triple-A titles coming out, this is God-like. The restructured Daybreak games have now officially designated a core team to take care of PS2 and have been doing a great job so far with the time that they have been given to resolve these issues. As far as content goes, they just released a new "capital ship" that will have many, many functionalities at the platoon and outfit levels. This also comes with a new arena for the outfits to compete in, so don't be surprised when we start to see a more "pro-gamer" level of play style come around. I would say that there is plenty of content coming on the horizon.

H@X0rs?

They exist but are far from gamebreaking.

Overall review:
9/10

The community that supports the teamplay make the game a fun and envigorating game. The form of "Instant Action" play that drops you in the heat of battle makes it quite fun solo, but also nominates you a "blueberry". This simply means that solo players tend to be harder to work with when it comes to strategy, but the community generally finds a way to handle this. Another note: This game is not for the faint of heart or faint of hardware. This game, in order to have the best chances of fun and success, requires some $$$. The huge PvP gameplay really stresses the system. Nonetheless, the constant updates and the pretty good community, along with (generally) balanced gameplay, I would say:

8.5/10

The game itself is very polished with enough maps and gamemodes to keep ya coming back for awhile. What really kept in the game was the community. The game (by design) is team based, but unlike many games I have played, the community is not toxic and is generally very forgiving and welcoming. I have had many games of just fun or doing dumb things and it was nice change to the usual toxic communities I find more often than not.

Unturned: The Minecraft/DayZ love-child.

Build, farm, shoot zombies and players. That sounds like the game to me!

(Seriously though)

The game has a good attention to detail and I applaud the creator for putting so much time and energy into the game. The game has good lighting and good mechanics. The inventory system is user friendly and it wasn't long before I had already had a found decent gear. I haven't played the Hardcore difficulty yet, nor have I played the online part of the game. What I have played though, I definitely had a good time.

So far I would rate this game 8/10 (8 becaues I haven't played the game to its fullest potential as of this review).
