Awful matchmaking, frustrating new-player experience, rampant hackers, extremely predatory microtransactions, lack of updates to the infrastructure of the game (servers, optimization, etc.), and so much more. The core of this game is fantastic, but playing Apex Legends in 2024 feels like you're digging through piles of pig manure to find the one with a nugget of gold inside that makes the experience worthwhile. Even then, some play sessions won't even give you that due to random crashes, server hiccups, etc. Playing with a group of friends who all know this game is heading for the glue factory can be a good time, but we're also smart enough to know when to stop playing.

Original Review: I was going to write this as a positive review, but the more I played and really thought about it, I realized this game doesn't respect your time. All of the really interesting bits are locked behind several hours of tedium. There are a ton of missing features that would VASTLY improve the overall experience, but as it currently stands, Darktide is nothing more than a bare-bones hoard shooter with a Warhammer skin slapped on it.

Don't get me wrong, the music is incredible, the gameplay loop is tight, and everything is very visually appealing, but the whole package feels held together with paper clips and Elmer's glue.

Updated Review: I'm going to give this game a tentative "thumbs up" for now. The game is in a MUCH better state than it was at launch. While I wish the servers were a bit more stable and that we had more missions to choose from, I'll take what I can get at this point.

Give me my money back.

This is one of the most nutrient-dense, enriching narrative gaming experiences I've had the pleasure of enjoying in quite some time. From a story perspective, the writing, world-building, character interactions, and choice-making are top-notch. Very concise, engaging storytelling without needless fluff. Coupled with the semi-robust character customization options, there's plenty of roleplaying to be had as well. I was also super impressed with the developers individually crediting the writers of every story beat, event, random encounter, etc. The combat is satisfying and fun , but might be a bit simplistic if you're a veteran of strategy RPGs. Wildermyth seems to offer a little something for everyone and even with only a few hours of playtime under my belt (at the time of writing), I'm definitely putting this game in my top 5 of 2021.

It's Chivalry, but way, way better.

This game used to be fantastic. Now it's some weird, corporate shell of its former self. The weekly updates, the ridiculous amount of DLC, and the safes really turned me off. Such a disappointment.

A true successor to Diablo 2. I've never played a better ARPG, even with this game's minor flaws.

Bumpin' 80's synth soundtrack, fantastic art style, and you get to wear a chicken mask while you murder mobsters. What's not to love?
