Very fun mechanic's to play with in this game. Has a gentle pace to allow easing into learning how to move, becoming aware of the trap which is lock on, respecting the ability to bait attacks, and punishing everything with backstabs. PvP can be harsh as many players have been around for years and still engage online though you shouldn't let that stop you if you're interested, many skilled players have released youtube videos explaining combat and how to respond to most discouraging situations.

SWF is garbage. You will start playing and be ranked with top rank players all because they're grouped with their low rank friends. Fun game otherwise, swf makes it garbage. 41 hours in and I'm ready to quit cause this, thank you developers for making this game FUN FOR EVERYONE and not just survivors. ggwp

I've played the original Dead Space at least 5 times through, xbox 360 version I just purchased a steam copy so I may update this later. This truely is a masterpiece horror game that captures the same wonder and experience we feel watching classic horror movies, In away it's like strolling into the world of Alien one a single ship infected by madness.

So far the gameplay handles about the same, a heavy combat styled horror with no short supply of monsters to mutilate. I do recommend playing on the hardest difficulty because one thing the original dead space seemed to lack was a proper challenge, though the unlockable Impossible mode is definitely worth a replay. The story is in short a spiral into insanity over the next three games that does not disappoint, and the original will always hold a special place for me as it's honestly the most horrorific. You spend just about the entire game acting alone looking at your companions on the otherside of glass or a deep trench never really in touch with them. You're always looking over your shoulder plasma cutter at the ready to rip apart necromorphs as they stalk you and attack in herds.

With a bit of skill I'm sure you can survive the night, oh and do play it in the dark the best horror deserves a proper setting! Remember kids; conserve ammo, health, and stasis!
