After having much love for this game over the years and all the fun I've had with the weapons DLC that came out two years ago, I'm sad to say that I'm greatly disappointed with the devs implementation of the recent updates/dlc.

Two months ago or so, the space DLC was released. With that, there were updates made to the fluid mechanics and a new addition being pressurization, which has changed how many creations on the workshop function, how submarines are able to function, and the buoyancy of most vehicles. On release, this broke many creations to the point that they were unusable. Previously functioning creations now simply sank or rolled over instantly because of the changes. Eventually, devs released a fix to the buoyancy mechanics, though many creations still do not function properly as they once did, and others still behave differently than they should.

More frustratingly for me -- I've always loved the destruction aspects of the game, the ability to have megalodons spawn in and attack your ships, ship collisions cause them to take on water and eventually sink, and with weapons, having naval combat was finally a possibility. While other games like sea of thieves exist for more tryhard competitive players, this was one of those games I'd hop on for a few hours a week to mess around in sandbox and sink ships, then return every few weeks to see what was new on the workshop and experiment with other user's creations. Now, not only are a good number of workshop creations completely unusable, but a recent update in these last two months (or collection of updates) have made it so that even fully destroyed vessels, do not take on water or sink. You could open every door on the ship, capsize it, blow it full of holes, and it will stay afloat as if nothing had happened (although electronics, engines, or other systems can be fully inoperable), nothing can really get them to consistently sink anymore. I've found maybe two out of dozens of creations that if left long enough fully submerged, will eventually flood inside, only through left open doors and nothing else, damage alone still won't cause them to flood.

My guess is the new pressurization mechanic is preventing air from escaping through damaged blocks, despite water previously being able to travel through those blocks, air cannot, meaning that the pressure within the vessel stays the same and water won't flood the ship. Even the ships that are fully submerged or capsized with doors opened, the pressure seems to prevent air from exiting and allowing water due to some limitation in coding or the game engine. I've asked around on reddit, the official discord, and steam discussions to see if other players are having the same issues, and it seems a good number of people (those who arent playing just for the "rescue" larping side) have said they cant get ships to sink anymore either.

Really unfortunate but to enjoy a game and support it for so many years, just for a core mechanic to be changed in such a way that it takes all the joy of what you enjoyed about the game in the first place, is really disappointing. Not only should this had been tested in beta before release, but the fact that it hasn't been rolled back over the months following release until the mechanic actually functions properly, is mind boggling. Some find enjoyment from it, but in practicality, there is nothing to explore in space and the change to include pressurization in the game adds nothing, it's only broken more creations than whatever they were trying to introduce, so it should just be removed at this point.

Sad to say that I won't be touching this game again until they can get it fixed, but with how slow they are to roll out changes such as this, it'll probably be a few more months before it's even looked at.

Only 18 hours and have been playing non-vr, so not all functions are currently supported but here's my taste of the game as a PC player:

Positives:
- Play is free, you get daily spins along with free spins every 8 hours, even minimal amounts of ~6500 chips can last you for hours if you're playing min bet BJ or 5k buy-in poker, haven't tried roulette or craps and only limited play of slots (which pays alright, not long-term profitable but what is when it comes to gambling) so it's still fun to play even with limited funds.
- The trinkets are pretty fun to use, though in my time of play I've only accumulated ~1200 credit on the store which is barely enough for 1-2 more common items, but they have limited support for PC anyway so it's not really a main focus
- Seems like the game is being updated on a constant basis, adding more games and support to PC which is nice.

Negatives:
- Server issues, almost every day it's had lag where everyone in the lobby freezes and inputs like check/fold/hit/stand can be affected, making you double bet on accident as the game tries to resume. I've also been booted from lobbies at least twice and if you have bets down, you lose that money regardless.
- Children, lots of kids under the age of 18 play this game and not sure if reporting them does much, you can mute them but i'd rather just move lobbies to talk to people that aren't as annoying.
- Limited support for PC (at least for now), mostly for stuff like new games, they come to VR first and to PC hopefully at a later time, but it's still somewhat upsetting that I don't get to partake in certain events like PL Omaha because it's still not on PC.
- Avatar customization, doesn't exist if you're on PC or I think playing through steam in general, meaning only Quest/Oculus users get custom avatars. You get some preset ones but they're really not good and using any items you bought in the store results in hair clipping through hats and often you see multiple avatars in the same lobby which can break the immersion. Really wish they bring customization to the game but it's been several years since their last comment on it saying "coming soon" and it never happened.

Overall:
- I'd say it's worth playing if you enjoy gambling and want to waste some time, even if you don't have a VR headset. The people (in the majority of cases) are really pleasant and fun to play with, you don't have to waste real $$$ to play, and it's easily one of the best free-to-play casino games I've ever experienced. Definitely more enjoyable to those who are playing on VR and while I plan on getting an index "2" whenever that releases, for now I'll continue to play on PC.

(will probably update review in the future at that point)

As one of the few games that I've played for over a decade at this point (albeit mostly on/off and nearly none of that time logged in steam), this game has always has trouble with its friendliness towards F2P players. The game itself is great in many aspects, no other tank/plane arcade shooter even comes close. I've had my spouts with World of Tanks over the years as well, but each game caters to a different type of player. Still, War Thunder has continued down a path where players are essentially forced to either buy premium vehicles or purchase premium time which has only increased in cost each year and the devs constantly increase the price of premium vehicles in game, what we end up with are limited time vehicles selling for thousands on a third party marketplace and regular premium tanks (that are incredibly imbalanced) selling for $60 a piece, with premium time sold separate to the tune of $80 a year. To some this may not seem like a lot -- I know people who've gladly spent 300-500 a year easily on some games in microtransactions, but that still don't make the game any better for the regular player. War Thunder has constantly made the game more and more restrictive for the F2P player and these recent changes have reflected that they don't have the end player in mind, they're just a greedy company milking the already existing playerbase of people they know will gladly keep buying new premiums and keep paying for that yearly subscription of premium time. Only recent backlash has led them to revert some of the most recent changes and their sad PR response of "we'll do better next time" has eased some players doubts, but it's really just an empty promise for them to do damage control, and frankly im sick of it. It's simply not a game worth playing and ever since the devs choose to silence players when the war in Ukraine broke out it's been a game that I can't stand proudly behind anymore. It really is a great game, but the devs have bled this one dry.

Early Access Review
Bought the game back when it was ~$25 through their website and it's not even worth that much, definitely isn't worth $35 full price. Because I bought it through their site and not on steam, they refused a refund when I asked for one and now they want nearly 50% more money a game that's barely been updated since. Same devs that brought you naval action, which has great combat but terrible open-world implementation, this game suffers from similar faults. At first, the missions didn't even work and customs battles didn't exist, which they added pretty quick but that's really the only good part about the game. The concept is good, there just isn't hardly any content. If the game goes on sale for ~$15 I'd say it's worth trying, but this is borderline theft asking for $35.

Do not buy, skin is pay to lose. You are basically a spotlight and everyone can see you from a mile away, big white glowstick in the night and fog maps and his giant sack makes you look like a homeless man. Can't recommend.

Only owned the game for 21 days at this point and I've already got ~160 hours. Fantastic to play with friends and the official discord has a pretty good LFG playerbase to always find trios/duos to play with. Some people are pretty sweaty, I personally try to avoid 5/6 star mmr games to opt for 3-4 star being the sweet spot of fun/challenging. Overall, really unique game full of veteran and noobie players that if you are looking for a new twist on battle-royal games, this is the one.

Only complaints that I've got are pretty buggy servers during peak play times like holidays, game randomly crashes with bug codes that are super vague (basically saying that it could be the game files, windows, hardware, or software) with no real help from support, just figuring it's game-side at this point since I've tried everything possible, and the one pay to win skin known as cain.

Even running on a 6800 + 5900x PC, trying to run 1440p on anything above medium is a horrible experience. Game is riddled with bugs and your decisions do nothing to influence the story, all choices lead to essentially the same result. Good for a first playthrough and nothing more, side missions are already, gunplay is interesting at best, but so many things just fell short. The environment feels so empty with bad NPC coding even when it comes to pedestrians and the police that it comes across as lazy, no amount of extra development time would have made this the great game everyone hyped it up to be because projekt just went in completely the wrong direction. Not even Keanu could save this game. If you can find it on sale it may be worth a try, I just wouldn't bother paying full price.

For $60, I can't recommend this game. For the first couple hours it was fun, the story is somewhat intriguing and the vibrant colors look beautiful, but there's just so many areas that are lacking and with the lack of updates it feels like the game was abandoned as soon as it launched. There was a large patch just after launch that fixed numerous bugs and some changes to the sound elements but overall that wasn't enough to even bring back my interest in the game. The narration becomes stale after a couple hours, missions are incredibly repetitive, side missions are there just to waste your time, having to go through this linear progression of "get the suit, go here to this vault to get another gear item to then go here" can be completely bypassed by leveling up immunity but you still get stuck with side missions to get that past gear you no longer need. Sometimes you find items that are dozens of levels above you which you can't use and by the time you get to that level the stats are already outdates. All of the weapon sounds lack any depth, combos are basically narrowed down to mash left click until things die. The whole "ability" attacks are less effective than just swinging a blade and don't provide any use during combat. Overall, the game was a fantastic idea that if given more time could have been great, but without re-writing the entire story, getting rid of narration, making missions actually meaningful, or even just adding more weapons or improving sound design, it's a lost cause. If you can find this game for $20 it might be worth that, but do not pay a full $60 for it.
