As a game, it should not be described as a competitor to Overwatch - that is unfair to the game. Rivals is not a competitive shooter that has been refined for fluid game play. It is an arcadey shooter that should be embraced as something you play casually for fun.

The biggest issue is that it is very janky - it plays like it is originally a mobile game ported to PC/Console. The gameplay is rough around the edges, many characters have similar abilities to each other (or nearly no abilities at all for some) and only a handful are viable to play. On top of this the game has poor performance on a good chunk of the maps.

Microtransactions aren't bad, permanent battlepass like Halo, HellDivers, etc is nice. I think having two currencies that do the same thing but only one can buy the battle pass is a bit too much "mobile game currencies" but its not the worst case of cosmetic shops.

If you're a marvel fan or just enjoy new games - try it, it's F2P so there's no cost besides internet bandwidth.

All in all, it's a pretty average game that was interesting to try but not fun enough to me to warrant playing solo.

Actually a pretty fun game, the swap mechanic feels smooth and I enjoy the fact that the gunplay is very simple. It's not like valorant or csgo where you have to really practice your tap-firing (atleast in lower ranks). It should be marked EA though, there's barely any maps or major content...

Unfortunately Shroud not wanting to play "his own" game is really negative advertising for what is a unique title. And the skin prices are absurd even after the decreased prices. Valorant shouldn't be selling guns and bundles for so much, and a new indie title should especially not be selling for these prices. Despite that if you play it solely as a f2p without spending its not too bad.

Not bad, wouldn't get it for full price though. Aim for $15-20 USD if you see a sale

The gameplay and battle royale aspects are peak - the movement perfectly fluid, the gunplay just right, the balancing solid.

However the updates have slowed down with less content each time, and very player unfriendly changes to monetization. We have seen less LTMs, less legend releases, less maps/map updates - and very recently the removal of the ability to buy the battlepass with premium currency.

This new change has effectively made it so what used to be a normal battle pass where you bought one and earned the next - become exclusively $10 purchases. On top of this, you have to spend $10 twice per season! So while I love the gameplay and flow of the game, I cannot rightfully say you should play this game with it's obviously not player friendly changes.

As of 07/24/2024 (or 24/07/2024) the battlepass changes have been reverted - this was an expected but welcome walkback by EA/Respawn. Because of this I have changed my review to positive. I still believe the gameplay is unmatched, and honestly a slowdown in content production is expected for a game this old. As long as Respawn/EA aren't too stingy the game is great and should stay great for the next few years.

If you're a ratchet and clank fan, its definitely worth buying when ON SALE.

I wouldn't buy it for full price, its quite buggy - I've had multiple soft locks that required checkpoint reset and skipping a section. On top of this; gun swapping issues - audio dropouts, and occasional graphical issues. Can't complain about any big FPS drops though, which was good.

Early Access Review
[More time on original client] Fun game to play f2p, $30 is a bit steep though, and its non-refundable due to being a "dlc" purchase.

Take care to see how the population lasts after steam release. There's a good chunk of people who will minmax gear levels to stomp new players.

I would really want this review to be "neutral" rather than negative, but since I personally wouldn't spend the $30 It's safer to say negative. I'd say just play it f2p, and if you get enough hours in and really like it - then buy!

As a long time cod zombies player since the WaW days;

If you're debating purchasing the game, wait for a bigger sale / some updates. While 1.0 release just came out the game is still in an alpha/beta state.

Lots of maps have janky terrain that you get caught on, the performance is middling, and balancing is weird. Lots of enemies will 90% of the time never be able to physically hit you - and the map bosses are just bullet sponges that nearly never will land a hit on you.

Desync / missing hitregs / enemies teleporting is pretty often in online lobbies, especially when interacting with the map quest objectives.

The game has potential but in it's state I would 100% wait for a big sale.

The best Lethal Company follow up of April 2024. Found Footage style recording is a very fun way to record clips of people getting mauled by different monsters. A+ from me

Like other reviews I would also love a way to view recent "lost recordings".

Its a neat little game with some fun minigames and a cool mario party board game style. However it feels like its missing something/quality and I can't say its worth buying full price.
