Overview:

Bully is a not so famous game from Rockstars repertoir, where you take the role of a teenager Jimmy Hopkins as he is transfered against his will at Bullworth Academy, after being abandoned by his mother as she goes in her honeymoon with her new husband. Labeled by many as "GTA, but in High School", and I can see why that happened. You could make connections between the two concepts, such as street gands being replaced by student factions, and you being free to cause as much mischief as you want, stealing cars becomes stealing bikes and so on. While this is an old game and unfortunately a not that well polished console port, it certainly has that Rockstar imprint on it and it is a worthwhile experience.

The Pros:
  • Open World - The game features a small, but spacious town full of things to do, customizations to get, items to collect and so much more. All this while respecting the school schedule or suffering the concequences. You are also free to cause problems, fix them, just have fun or romancing with the ladies.

  • Character Development and Great NPCs - I always expected from Rockstar this kind of character progression and NPCs. You start out as a social outcast, who hates everybody and eventually build your way up the social ladder and become everyones favorite. About the NPC's some would say they are quite bland and exagerated, though I think that was exactly what the developers aimed at. There are several major groups: The Bullies, the Nerds, the Greasers and the Preppss. All of them so evidently and heavily stereotyped, it is meant to make fun of them, and I would say it is the perfect combination between cringing and laughing.

  • Realism - While the games graphical capabilities aren't someting to behold, as its an old game and *ahem* a console port, the game makes up for it in the details. You fail school if you don't get to classes, you get punished if caught outside past curfew or not wearing the school uniform to class, almost every action you do will raise or lower other factions respect towards you, and many more details.

The Cons:
  • Console Port - While I'm not trying to bash or blame consoles here, because this is just a mere port, navigating through the menus is done only via the keyboard, some binding being rather... unintuitive. Sometimes the loading screens will cause the game to crash while rendering at 1080p.

  • Compatibility Issues - Usually this shouldn't be a concern. I managed to play this game rather well without (many) crashes in Windows 8.1 x64, but sometimes the game can be unresponsive on launching and many small bugs that Rockstar never adressed. It's not that bad that you can't deal with it or fix it yourself, but I would have expected more from this game.

Conclusion:

Is the game optimised? No. Can it get a tad repetitive? Yes. But is it fun? Hell yes. I recommend this game for any nostalgic Rockstar fan, and for everyone that wants to reimagine their highschool shenanigains as a unfortunate, almost abandoned, family-issues having teenage boy.

Overview
Pixel Puzzles Japan is a fairly basic puzzle game with varying difficulties, with themes from - obviously - Japan. While the game has a very nice atmosphere and can get you entertained enough to complete them all, there are some issues I still have. Alas, cons aside, this is a nice game if you can get it for dirt cheap if you're into Jigsaw puzzles. I am giving this a positive review, but I am on the very edge between decent and... not worthy. I will explain why.

The Pros:
  • Great Ambience - Puzzle aside, the game does a decent job of putting you in the role of a monk who does zen stuff like this all day long. Your pieces are placed in a water pool alongside a fish, you have a nice water timer and also the music is pretty relaxing.

  • Diverse Edges - Almost every puzzle has different gaps on the edges, so you actually feel like playing a new game everytime you play, and not just switch to another picture. These also change the difficulty, as having to squint your eyes to observe the ones with more bumps and holes isn't that comfortable as plain, big, single extrusions.

  • 20 Puzzles, 6 Settings - 20 puzzles, getting increasingly difficult, and having more pieces. From 60 all the way up to 240+

  • Easy Achievements - Even though this doesn't affect my general score of games, this is usually a point that I make every time I review a game. This games achievements are earned purely by completing the game. Great for achievement hunters who love to flaunt that "Perfect Games" counter on their profile.

The Cons:
  • Bad User Interface - Even though the menu says 1080p, the general textures of things look really blurry and upscaled. Also, the buttons are aesthetically not pleasing. Won't bug you from completing puzzles, but for a game so easy to make, I would have expected more when it comes to such a basic aspect.

  • Piece Selection Flaw - The game can be very anoying. I mean VERY anoying when you want to get a specific puzzle piece you see in the pool. Even if you click exactly on it, you will most probably end up pickung another one, as the game chooses to automatically choose the first piece in the placement sequence, if you go from top-bottom and left-right. This leads, besides the annoyance of having to dig through the pieces before getting the one you want, also is the mother of a very useful exploit, that makes any puzzle, no matter how big, so easy to solve it takes NO skill. You can easily find out about this in the Community Guides.

Conclusion
Is this game worth it? Mabye. It was pretty satisfactory to complete the puzzles, although the cons I've presented are some pretty serious ones, and I wouldn't reccomend paying the full price for this game. I had the chance to snatch it for free in a mass giveaway, and given it was free, I really enjoyed it. If you like it, grab it while on sale. Full price not worth it, at least not without a potential update.

Overview
Super Hexagon is in my opinion the perfect example of when simplicity does not impact on gameplay. The concept is simple, ridiculous, challenging and to a certain point, addictive. A great, minimalistic rythm game where you control a triangle in its struggle to survive from the evercollapsing environment while nodding your head to some cool electro music.

The Pros:
  • Simple yet Fun - The game's objective is simple. The music keeps it entertaining. The beautiful changing colors make it fun to watch. Even the frustrating deaths make it enjoyable. This is one of those games where you will die. A lot, a lot of times, however you will still try to move on.

  • Great Music - The game uses groovy, fast paced music that surprisingly won't seem repetitive after listening to it countless times (due to how much you will have to restart the game). I don't even like electro music, but this is amazing. My compliments to the author(s)

  • Interesting... Art? - The game has a nice rainbow filter and a geometric generating pattern. It blends perfectly with the music. I cannot compliment the graphics that... are not even there, but the minimalist, colorful aproach is something I personally like.

The Cons:
  • Short - The game has 6 levels, or should I say 3, with two difficulty steps each. Although they take a long time to bead, I would have liked to see some more customisability, like a end game feature where you can alter the parameters.

  • Difficult - I'm not going to sugarcoat it, this game was pretty hard. Look at my playtime. That's how long it took me to beat the last level. While I don't necessarily find it a con, unpatient people will, so heads up before saying: "Oh, just 6 achievements? I'll do it in an hour!"

Conclusion
A great rythm game for cheap, both fun to kill time and test your reaction time. Definitely buy it if you see it on sale!

Overview
Beyond Gravity is a game that follows the generic mobile game formula. Incredibly simplified game mechanics, cartoony graphics and Subway Surfer-esque challenge system as an incentive to continue playing.

The Pros
  • Price - Even if the game is not so content rich, the low price might even justify the purchase. Often seen on 50% off, the trading cards are also pricy, so even if you regret purchasing this, the damage will be minimal.

  • Achievements - I must admit the main reason I got this game was that it was cheap and with easy to obtain achievements. I like getting games I can 100% without spending a lot of hours. This being said, the title will get you 40 achievements in about 4 hours (that's how long it took me)

The Cons
  • Grinding - The game's objective is so basic and the upgrades require a lot of screws (aka "coins") that you will find yourself just grinding over and over again, aimlessly. I did not find the game nor challenging, nor fun. The only thing that kept me going were the challenges, which bring up the next point.

  • Repetitive Challenges - As I've said, the gameplay is so minimal that the 40 challenges to beat (also the 40 achievements) are pretty much... the same. Many of them are just a reiteration of the last, but with a bigger number. Also, "Jumping" and "Landing on Planets" or "Play x games" and "Die x times" are the same thing. Doing 300, 500 respectively 1000 such actions is boring to say the least. Not to mention the boring "Double jump once" or "Unlock these".

Conclusion
Do I liked the game? No. Would I reccomend it to someone? Again no. Or at least not for PC, mabye it's a good time killer for mobile, but when you're at your PC with so many games to choose from, I cannot see a reason this should be on the list. There simply isn't enough content to justify it.

Overview
A Story About My Uncle is an adventure puzzle platformer game developed by the same people who brought us Goat Simulator. It shows much of that indie aura, as it is centered around a simple but nicely told narrative. The game's setting is future you telling a bedtime story to your daugher about your unfathomable adventures as a 10 year-old on his quest to search for his Uncle.

Graphics - OK
The game's focus was obviously not the graphics, but the simple yet catchy gameplay. While you won't have any impressive textures, the game makes up for it in ambient. Lots of light sources and a colored evironment will keep your eyes entertained during playthrough, however if you are a graphics elitist you might be set off by some, but few lowpoly models. The character animations are pretty lifeless, however they are mostly there for decorative purposes. Overall, I wouldn't complain about the graphics, since they look decent and not the focus of the game.

Gameplay - Fun but Frustrating
This is another easy to play - hard to master game. It involves you wearing a power suit that alows you to jump high, run fast and grapple via an energy beam to different objects. The goal is simple. Get to the end of the level. However, doing so won't be that easy, and you can easily find yourself repeating the same sequence over and over. A warning for completitioists: the achievements are bloody hard. They involve completing levels without dieing or using a limited ammount of grapples. A very hard thing to do. The game isn't so lenghty campaign-wise, but trying to complete these challanges will surely keep you busy.

Sound - Soothing Ambiental
The sound is very nice in this game. Not intrusive, only calm music to serve as background stress relief, along with narratives at certain points. Decent voice acting, a nice touch overall.

Pros
- Interesting Story
- Simple but fun gameplay
- Relaxing Atmosphere

Cons
- Hard to master

Final Thoughts
The game isn't much for replayability, however given the price I would easily recommend it as a casual experience.

This is a great game for people who love puzzles. There are 5 levels, each with its own overly-complicated safebox that you need to crack open. The music is great, the ambiance is well-made, the visuals are really well done. The only drawback of the game is that it... only has 5 levels. Not much for replayability, but if you have friends coming over it's very fun to watch them attempt to solve it.

The shortest I can describe this game as: 2D Version (and better one) of Watch Dogs. You play as a trenchcoat wearing hacker who can manipulate anything in the power grid of the building, and infiltrates server rooms to hack them.

I definitely recommend this game to any lover of strategy games. Very nice looking pixel graphics, fluid motions, nice ambiental music, but the most important aspect is the gameplay, which uses simple puzzle elements to create complex scenarios for you to complete - in any way you want. This game has a choose-your-own-style approach, where you can choose whether to be the stealthy spy that never leaves any mark behind, or the hardcore maniac who bashes doors in over his enemies. Time between missions are also entertaining, as before and after each mission you are texting with your employer. Some of them are quite fun to read.

Another HUGE pro on the game's side is the simple and intuitive Level Editor, along with Workshop integration. Much like Portal 2, this game now gives you a virtually unlimited list of levels other players made for you to complete, so you don't need to replay the campaign over and over again.

Achievement-wise, they are easy and fun to make. It took me about 5 hours to complete all 42 of them! Definitely a big recommendation for Achievement Hunters.

All in all, this game is wonderful. Don't miss the chance to play it!

I have purchased this game on the one year anniversary, and 90% off a cheap title was an offer I could not refuse. The game is very fun. It consists of a casual simulation of an evolving life form you control that floats in water and tries to feed itself in order to evolve. The gameplay mechanic is somewhat reminescent of Spore's first stage. The graphics are dreamlike and the art style is impressive, the music sets the ambient rather well and the gameplay concept, although so simple and basic, manages to captivate you for a good few hours. Difficulty wise, the game is incredibly easy but it is meant to be a time-occupier (waster is innapropriate in this context), not a competitive game, although you have that option. While the game is fun, it lacks a few concepts that would have greatly improved it, and it kind of bugs me in a game that is concentrated on evolution: the lack of creature customization, as the creature grows soley based on what type of food you eat, and the lack of an endless mode, where the level is randomly generated. Other than that, it is a great game to spend your "Im so bored" time, and though not perfect, a great indie title.

I recieved this for free from a site I found on reddit. While I of course like free games, I don't often also like playing them. As far as this title goes, I don't find anything special about this game, and in my opinion it is quite... uncomplete.

The graphics are decent at least, not great, but not bad either, and while they paid less attention to environment, cars are as shiny as they can be, which would make sense in a car game.

However the gameplay is where it takes a turn for the worse. The only storyline I've been able to gather is that you and a friend of yours are some sort of undercover cops who use a civilian car to catch. While there is no continuos gameplay, at least you have freeroam, and you can get random missions from the dispatch.

But let's see what the actual missions are about... well, chasing criminals, smashing their car until they come to a full stop. I have so many pet peeves when it comes to realism in this game that I can barely make myself write this review. Firstly, there are absolutely NO human animations. If the scenario makes your partner jump into a truck while you keep steady near it.... he just stays in the car, even though supposedly he is driving a truck now, even though he is still riding shotgun with you. Turning the wheel? No animation. Crashing recklessly in everything? No animations. The evil guy whos car you just totaled with nothing left other than the wireframe? No animation. What's more, you don't even arrest him. You just wreck his car (which takes a ridiculous ammount of bumping into) and then.. leave. And I guess he will just sit patiently idling (not like he has animations to begin with) in his carwreck until your fellow police officers arrive.

About the sound, not great either. The radio consists in a few metal instrumentals, which I can't say I dislike, but that's about it. No radio control, you always listen to the same tracks over. However that shouldn't be bugging you more than the total lack of talent in voiceacting. I'm not trying to bash the developer here. I didn't do my research, might as well be some guys in a basement, struggling to make their dream game but still... the voice acting is terrible. TERRIBLE.

All this being said, if you get the game from free from some random humblebudle-esque deal on the internet, go ahead and at least waste some time with this, however I would never recommend anyone actually paying money for.

A very nice indie puzzle game that makes you pay attention to a tune and then replicate it by putting the right circles in the right sockets. It is a very nice concept, although the 25 levels don't take a long time to beat. What would complete this game would be a level editor with Workshop integration. Other than that, I believe its a reasonably fun game that is well priced for the few hours of entertainment that it will give you.

The sound is very high in quality, and the experience using headphones (as recommended by the game itself) is enjoyable.

Also good news for achievement hunters (such as myself). This game only has 15 achievements that are all easily obtainable, with the exception of two that require you to refrain from using helpful elements of gameplay.
