Balatro is a roguelike poker game, an idea that sounds totally crazy at first, yet it works incredibly well. It's even more addicting than real gambling, but you don't even lose any money!

Seriously though, definitely check this game out if you haven't already. Every aspect of this game is masterfully crafted, from the very addicting gameplay loop of collecting all your tarot, planet, spectral and joker cards, to the hypnotizing dynamic soundtrack, to even all the intricate pixel art. When you really start getting into Balatro, you realize that there honestly aren't even any faults to the game design, as every part of your time spent seems to fall into place perfectly. Perhaps you might get frustrated at how much time you've sunk into playing it, because you just can't seem to find the right jokers in your runs, and have lost Wheel of Fortune three times in a row? Only downside I could think of, and honestly that sounds like a skill issue my friend.

To be honest, it's not very often in the games industry that you see a game like Balatro pop up these days. A completely original idea by an unknown solo dev that takes everyone by storm, and has already settled into its own active community. It's a game that, in my eyes, has universal appeal, so definitely give it a try!
