There's a character in this game that fires homing rockets and a kamehameha wave with a 1 second cooldown. On it's own that sounds incredibly unbalanced, but then you find out that every character is like this in their own way. For instance, One of the simpler characters is a guy with a sword and shield. That's it, just a sword and shield. The problem is that he can block almost anything (I don't think he can block poison.) so if you have the reflexes you can block and counter anything your opponents throw at you and take stocks really fast. All of the characters have something that makes them special and able to compete with the rest. (Besides roller skating girl in my opinion, because of how most map layouts are it's hard to use her ability well.) I really like how fast paced the combat is and it's fun to mess with people with characters like Owl, Rabbit, and Ice Man. The only problem I have with this game is the boss fights. They're too long for how challenging they are, (Especially the Samurai and Puppeteer) I enjoyed the Ninja because you have a fair amount of time to react. The Bee fight was also fine, you just have to rush him as soon as he spawns if you don't want to take too much damage from his barrages. The Afro Samurai was annoying. Unlike the Ninja he's very spams out his sword beams so much in such a short period of time you can't really react, so if he's not going to be fair on the timing I think he should do the same routine every fight after getting hit. The same number of beams, in the same places every time you fight him. The Cactus is fine, you should be able to roll past him most of the time. The Puppeteer should be removed and is the worst fight by far. There is no pattern, there is no special scripted moments, he just has two more puppets and a lot of invincibility frames and it's beyond annoying. He's insufferable, I feel like I should get a costume for every character by beating that annoying waste of space once. (As of this review I have not fought the Poison so I can't say anything about her fight here.) Overall: 8/10

This was my first visual novel.

While I have a pair of nostalgia goggles with lenses the size of the Hubble, I still think it's above average. You're main character is, just like most other visual novels and dating sims, a pretty good guy. He hears a girl crying one day after school and finds Sachi, a first year student with only one eye and scars all over her body. From there he tries to become friends with Sachi and find out who's hurting her. By the end of the game, he resolves her bullying issue, helps patch up her poor relationship with her aunt, then finally reaches second base.

The villain, a girl named Rui, is literally just Bob from the Outsiders if you've read that book. She just bullies people like Sachi because they won't really fight back, and there are no consequences for her actions because of her wealthy family. She does a serviceable job at getting MC some good boy points. I would've mentioned her aunt since it's an actually interesting antagonist dynamic but she's in the game for like two-three scenes max.

In my opinion they did a pretty great job for how much time they had to work on the game. If you read through the developer notes in the extras menu, you'd find out that the game was made for a convention that was 2 months away when they started seriously working on it. I originally watched a walkthrough of this game, couldn't tell you where or from who. When I saw it was on sale I had to give it a try. Overall, it was just as good as I remembered it. It's not very long at all, I think it took me about 2 hours. I technically did three playthroughs and a bit of digging around in the extras menu after that. I went through the game twice back to back. Once just for fun, the other looking to see if there were any secrets hidden in the background, (I couldn't find anything going through the story) and one more in Japanese skipping through for an achievement.

MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE AFTER STORY BITS IN THE EXTRAS MENU!
If you like the art, cyclops girls, and touching scars; then go ahead. Otherwise, wait for a sale or skip it. It's such a shame the creator will never translate his other releases. He's kind of a ♥♥♥♥ but you can find fan-translations of his other work online if you want.

This is from start to finish a great game. The lip sync is bad, the characters are weak, the Handler is the weakest and wanders into danger anytime she can, and I CAN'T CHANGE MY NAME FOR SOME REASON EVEN WITH A CHARACTER EDIT VOUCHER. However, the world building is great, MOST of the bosses are fair and well designed, and I CAN'T CHANGE MY CAT'S NAME EVEN WITH A PALICO EDIT VOUCHER.

Pros:
I really like the pet mechanic. Some of them are a bit too rare for it to be worth it (Bristly Crake) but i'm still trying to catch'em all anyways.

Cons: I couldn't find anything to complain about in this game outside of the Behemoth and Kushala Daora (Definitely didn't spell that right, just take it as a final spit on this awful bosses rotting carcass.) bosses fight, it was literally the only """"challenge"""" the game threw at me I didn't end up enjoying or feeling triumphant afterwards. It may seem like a weak complaint but I've fought Behemoth so many times it's goin' in!

The Whirlwind spell the Behemoth uses, and the entire steel dragon fight. Both of these are basically the same issue. I don't know if this is a common complaint but I think it's a really annoying so here we go! One time, the person I fought the Behemoth with had the spell cast on him and it blocked me off from the boss. So I had to: Go to camp on the other side of the map, then run all the way over there. Then he used ecliptic meteor and there where no rocks to hide behind, so I had to do it all over again and when I arrived finally the tornado was disappearing right as I started fighting the boss again. The worst part of all is that after all of the tragedy I went through fighting this guy, he was the last monster I hunted before buying Iceborne and playing through Master mode, where the first couple of bosses have amour sets that completely trample the Behemoth since there's an even stronger version of him to fight far later. All of that work I had done amounted to the first two or three fights being easier. For the dragon fight the problem is that he hides in the whirlwinds for way to long, and he also never sits down so my friend using charge blade had a hard time. For me it was pretty easy in terms of difficulty since i'm using insect glaive but it's such an annoying boss fight that it's worth mentioning.

Overall: LET ME CHANGE MY NAME!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of mouse controlled combat. If you really wanted to you can just rotate your mouse in a circle and mow everyone down and erratically swing your way through the game. It's fun to try and limit yourself, taking one swing per enemy in quick succession. Bosses are handled pretty well. I'm exited to see how the final boss messes with the games mechanics. The soundtrack is perfect for the games bleak setting and exhilarating in battles, pretty great stuff. I feel like Sanyati's drop kick is way more fun than a dash but either way it's better to play Zambezi since you'll only be able to play him for one level. The secrets are pretty odd in this game, mainly because they don't have much substance or affect on the game as a whole. There's a: creepy eye room, Agent Flyman is outside the map sometime in the prison area and you can't interact with him at all, and at the beginning of the game a robot that has a long monologue about what it felt like to be human.. by being replaced and abandoned. Episode 1 is good, it's free so go ahead and play it now!

It's a shame Team Fortress is such an undervalued IP, there's a wealth of great characters ripe for use but it's pretty much been neglected since Jungle Inferno. Good to hear #SaveTF2 was able to get some attention, hopefully more good stuff is coming in the future.
