I'm sure the game is fantastic but Origin will not let my co-op partner launch the game despite extensive troubleshooting. So refund it is. If it did not need an Origin connection I'm sure it'd work fine.

I can live out my dreams of playing as my favourite food, spaghetti bolognese. For this reason alone I recommend this game. As for the price, sure it's a bit for a short game but the art style and amount of work that went into it imo makes it worth it. Solid mechanics too for puzzles and level design. V nice

This review starts with hating the game, but ends up going into why I love it

I gotta say, Ubisoft has a trend of pushing out hot trash on release (R6, Division, etc) and then eventually turning the game into something playable, maybe even great.

The learning curve in this game for someone who doesn't play fighters is nuts don't get me wrong. Playing gear statted modes is a nightmare with everyone having better stuff than you is annoying af. But I still love this game.

I've played on/off since launch and still love it. Through P2P server nightmare, to uninteractive hero patterns and parry mechanics. With recent updates though such as loads of hero reworks, constant content, and the upcoming Marching Fire expansion it's looking pretty good now. Maybe even playable.

Heros now have fun styles, neat cosmetics, and decent interplay. It's no longer just parry, GB, laugh. There's a big and ever expanding hero roster that is attainable by play or season pass much like R6. Balance actually exists, but there are still some characters that are just trash.

While I realise this game isn't for everyone, it certainly is a personal favourite. With all that the devs have been doing for the game over the past year to make it better, I think the results and evidence of effort will mean that this game is only going up from here. I mean, it's already in a good place in my opinion.

Still,

I don't think this game will ever be truly competitive.

The new free update 1.4 patch that just dropped has fixed almost all the issues I had with the game's endgame from launch. Sure the playerbase has dropped substantially so there are longer quese if you are looking for co-op by yourself but so much has improved.

- Time to kill has been reduced to make you feel powerful again rather than wasting all your ammo on a single enemy only to get one shot by it in the end.

- Loot drops, quanitity and quality has been reworked to feel rewarding, so that the difficulty you undertake only affects quatity and the level of enemies now effects quality, meaning you can gear up at your own pace easily and comfortably.

- Some of the more overpowered gear sets have been balanced making PvP slightly more viable an option without the fear of getting destroyed by someone running skill power tank builds.

I'm sure there are many more great changes in the patch notes that I haven't mentioned here but these are the big ones that stuck out to me coming back to the game after 3 or so months, it's the game that I always wanted it to be now almost.

Haven't come across hackers yet since the player base has dropped so not sure if they've actually fixed that situation. Also if you are willing to fork out money for the DLC they are top notch too. With survival just being released that has really good rewards and is a nice new twist, and underground being an interesting dungeon like experience, they are probably my second favourite DLC to Diablo 3 ROS.

But yeeee solid 8/10 now in my opinion.
