Brilliant game, there are better reviewers than me.
But for new players: if you're importing your demo files, you won't get achievements until you close the game, verify the files and then start up again.
I learned this, when I noticed I got no achievements after about 50 hours of gameplay.

This game will be dopamine-shrivellingly easy until your 2nd playthrough.
>The maximum difficulty setting for 1st playthrough is Story Mode disguised as "Normal."
>I BEG that you import someone else's save file so you can unlock the harder difficulties immediately.

Listen, we all know the writing is terrible, but do not fall for the enticing, saccharine reviews of "but the gunplay is the best in the series!"
This is only correct for the end-game.

If you have experience in FPS games, this will be too easy for you - enemies will always be lower level than you, and the rare few that are higher, will yield so much exp (and so little a challenge) that you will match their level after 1-2 fights.
Often, you can stand still and tank ALL the damage thrown at you - the only risk is environmental/elemental damage which will do % health damage.
Enemies will always be 2 shots from death straight from full health, bosses die within 30 seconds each (some you won't even use more than 2 magazines on), and fights are without risk.
I do not remember a single notable boss theme (or actual boss LOL) because I had no time to hear it, and the audio mixing is TERRIBLE.

Back on track to the "gunplay":
I was not even 12 hours in and I had already found 6 Orange-tier weapons.
I had so many Purple-rarity weapons that I was selling most of them; green, white and blue weapons are 100% useless.
Honestly, money is worthless in this game, because the likelihood you get another Orange-tier in the next hour is so high - What are you buying besides storage upgrades?
Storage upgrades to store more guns to sell, so you can buy more storage upgrades, so you can store more guns to sell, to buy more- DoYouKnowTheDefinitionOfInsanity?
Trust me, you will not run out of ammo if you loot and run, literally, that stuff flies towards you when you're already 20 miles away as long as the box is open

In short: am I NOT meant to use the shiny Orange-tier loot?? Borderlands 2 hard-wired my brain to see the colour orange in the same way lovers see one another on their honeymoon, and here I have so many that I feel like Caesar and his many concubines.
Am I not meant to do all the quests given to me, and fight all the enemies I possibly can in a BORDERLANDS game??
If you need a second opinion, just search for how many oranges people get, and how easy they find it on google or something.

Rant over, I just won't accept the gaslighting of "The gunplay is so good, though!" anymore, because I ain't playing for 80 hours just to get to the only acceptable part of this game.

Me and my friend play.
They get sexy vampire that can kill them, and I get scary women that can to kill me :)

Cute game, free, achievements are fun to get, and it's anti-corporate!

Short game, but really good.
You can tell it's been made by a younger team, because of the types of morals and messages it sends across, along with the characterisation of everyone in this game.
I mean that in a good way.
It's one of those games that's fun enough to want to 100% it.

Great game, would definitely recommend.
It's addictive, really fun and is more complex if you look deeper into abilities and status affects [like Asher getting slowed if she uses her abilities past the centre].

Just don't panic when you get scored on twice in a row; if you try and huddle back to the goalie box, you make your defence weaker because there's no pressure mid-field and nobody to pass to.
You also mess up your goalie's ability to clear the ball if you're thwacking the puck just for the sake of it.

The devs seem dedicated to the game, and content creators are all over this, so it's getting really good support, but it's still pretty new.

Good game, but far too easy even on the hardest difficulty.
I'd recommend installing the Insane Difficulty mod by The Duck Dealer to make it harder.

With their mod, countering requires timing instead of just holding the button until an attack comes, and sonic doesn't do as much damage, which means open-world fights are actually fights and not 1-shots and Guardians aren't killed in 1 combo.

As for the rest of the game: the music is good, the game establishes a lot of canon, the character writing is back to a gold standard, movement and exploration is fun.
A few stages have similar design to SA2 stages but with different aesthetics, which is great because those levels are some of the best-designed in 3D Sonic.
This game is a real return for Sonic...just a shame that the final boss is literally a top-down shoot-em-up.

Still, haven't enjoyed a Sonic game like this in years

There are some things that are a minor problem: such as some full walls registering as half-walls or being able to be seen through despite no squad-sight or any damage done to it.
Basically the visuals don't always line up with the actual effects of the game.

Other times, I've had bugs where a concealed overwatch doesn't work, despite the squad member being spotted by an enemy, which totally threw off a plan I had.
[But autosaves are a lifesaver so it doesn't matter].

Game is great, only minor bugs that can easily be fixed by loading an autosave that is made about 5 minutes before, and a couple class perks and rooms you can build that serve next to no purpose compared to other ones.

So just don't choose those perks and buildings, reload your saves, and it's a very minor inconvenience at best compared to a great game.
