I'm someone who you could call a bit of a Spider-Man fan. Have been since I was a wee lad. Got my hands on anything I could. Read the hell out of reprints of the main comics and Ultimates, loved the Raimi films to death (yes, even 3), played any game I came across. Then I ended up growing up, rediscovered my love, read through every comic I could until I couldn't stomach them anymore (thanks Quesada and Slott), rewatched the movies (yes, even TASM2), and this fell into my lap, one glorious afternoon in 2018.
Plain and simply, this game gives me that feeling I had as a young one who was completely in awe of the world of Spider-Man. I think this is probably the best thing to come out of the whole franchise since the Raimi films. I 100% completed it on PS4, and I'm going to do it here again. As someone who has grown pretty worn out on superheroes in the past few years thanks to the complete market oversaturation, this has made me wonder if it was me that was the problem, or just the media. Okay, I'm rambling. The point is, this takes pretty much everything good about SM2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Web of Shadows, and cranks it up to 11. The sheer detail that has been pored into every aspect of this game, the suits, character design, worldbuilding... Insomniac really knows their ♥♥♥♥, and they respect it. If you've been a fan of the franchise in the past decade or two, you know how unfortunately rare that is nowadays with the people who get their hands on the character. I really cannot recommend this game enough. It's not super innovative, but what it does, it does it really damn well.

Competent writing and art direction + a game genre that lends itself well to the world of this series makes for a far more compelling game for the average gamer than either Interplay's isometric works or Bethesda's half-baked, illogical theme park tours.
What I'm saying is, this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good as all hell. No, really. Just download an anti-crash mod if you're on Windows 10, boot it up and then get ready for a world of big irons, nightmare wasps and funky atompunk ♥♥♥♥.

Starbound at first appearance appears to be Terraria in space. That's mainly because it is.
That being said, it's much, much more watered down compared to Terraria, which is quite disappointing, considering this game was in development hell for at least a couple of years. The mobs are pretty much the same as each other except with different skins (AI included), the planets have nothing to do on them apart from gather resources, the game's 'updates' are little more than art assets being added, and any negative complaints on Chucklefish's (or Chuckle♥♥♥♥s') forums get deleted.

Definitely don't buy the game in the state it is now. It's poorly coded, music's rather shoddy, gameplay is much more simplistic than Terraria's... possibly the only good thing about this game is the graphics, but even then, if you only care about graphics, you may as well go play an interactive movie like The Last of Us or Bioshock Infinite, which, despite being poorly made, are still better than this piece of crap.
Maybe one day, in the far-off future, it'll be worth it. But if it continues the way it is, it never will be.
