Pretty much a Half Life game but in the horror genre.
If you are looking for a cheap scare, go for it. I found it worth playing.

A good successor to the first game.
That said, It did have problems.

The gameplay, more specifically the combat, in my opinion didn't get better, in fact it just turned more frustrating.
For starters, the targetting system is an utter failure. Now you say, "Can you elaborate?". My response to that is not really, so if you are expecting Batman Arkham Asylum smoothness in regards to targetting, prepare to be disappointed. Second, the practicality of Geralt's sword combat. When in comparison to the first game it had three fighting stances: The strong stance, reserved for heavy/bulky enemies; the fast stance, for the quick and agile enemies; and the group stance, for those times when you were outnumbered and surrounded. In the Witcher 2, those stances were thrown away and combat became streamlined by replacing it with light attacks by clicking the left mouse and heavy attacks by pressing the right mouse. That doesn't sound bad, right? In some cases, yes, it worked out fine. But there were some instances where this new combat mechanic just sucked completely.
The big problem is that the new mechanic didn't leave it as straightforward as the first game. Geralt in this game does his super stylish spins in the worst of occasions. Where in the Witcher 1, he did his spin attacks more in his group stance to keep from being overwhelmed, and in this game he does his spins for the sake of spinning, whether you are surrounded or not. Sometimes when you want him to do a wide slash spin when surrounded, he doesn't, or when you want to do powerful but quick attacks on one or 2 opponents, he does his spins and all that time he used up spinning he gets hit like the idiot he was.

TL;DR You have less control of the swordplay in the Witcher 2 in comparison to the Witcher 1.

Next up is the potions/enhancements. Oh god... This was probably the most frustrating bit. In the Witcher 1, you could go into your inventory and drink a potion. Before or during combat, and the effects lasted much longer. Simple as that.
In the Witcher 2, you have to predict when combat will show up, sit down, drink, have him ♥♥♥♥ around for another 10 seconds, stand up, then you are good to go. And no, you can't drink potions during combat. So, if you show up at a boss fight with no potions in your system, you are screwed. You either have to go back a save or two, drink the potions on the prior knowledge of meeting the boss/hard part and beat it/them, or you have to bite the bullet and beat it/them without potions. Hilariously enough, you can enhance your armor and weapons during combat. Why not stay consistant? I don't know. Even worse, the potion effects only last 10 minutes (a tiny bit more if you have devote your levels to the alchemy skills).

TL;DR Your potion usage is restricted (in comparison to the prequel again).

What else... The game is shorter in content overall and in my opinion feels just a little bit more linear and less open.

Oh, and the game's soundtrack doesn't feel as memorable as the first.

So far, everything from the above is dedicated to those who played the first game.
If you haven't, then it won't really change anything.

OTHER THAN THAT....
The graphics are glorious. The textures are really top notch.
The story is well thought out. If you don't know much of the lore you might be a bit confused time to time.
Oh, and no naked chick cards. This time we get a couple of sex scenes. Woohoo.

Still the best Call of Duty in my opinion. Advanced Warfare can take that spot if they addressed the optimization and gameplay balance issues.
Still has a good sizeable community, however only team deathmatch and hardcore team deathmatch are the only game modes people play on actively. The rest of the game modes are pretty dead.
No, the game isn't plagued by hackers as a lot of people claim. I'd say 1/100 games there is one.
The campaign still remains my favorite out of all CoD campaigns.
Good fun for casual play.

A nice RPG for 2007.
While it has a lot of awkward and funny looking cutscenes, an extremely repetitive combat system, a short list of voice actors, little variation in character models, and the occasional naked chick* cards being added to your personal collection (you heard me right), it still retained a fair amount of immersion in a well thought out storyline and environment, despite it being quite linear with plenty of loading screens. The game mentions a plethora of relevant information in the universe lore when it comes to the background histories, monster descriptions, alchemy, etc.
Oh, and the music. Fantastic is an understatement.
Be warned: The game can be damn hard at times, as drinking potions is a must. Saving frequently is recommended too.
"A witcher without potions is only half a witcher."

*My edit, I originally said "porn cards" but it didn't exactly constitute porn the way I see it. However, there are some rather....odd-ball ones...I'll just leave it at that.

As much as the game is adrenaline racing and challenging...
The music by itself is almost worth the $10.
Must own for indie junkies or those that want a challenge.
The only problem with this indie game (just like most others) is the replay value.

This game was utterly fantastic at immersing you into the atmosphere of the late 1940's. Hats off to the developers.
The detective work was fun, but It sort of had its own subtle way of holding your hand, ex. sound cues, a limited amount of hints, giving you the option to skip a sequence if it becomes troubling to you, etc. However, these things can be turned off in the options menu, giving the hardcore detective wanna-bes no conflict.
My single playthrough gave me nearly 30 hours of content, including the dlcs. I did every side mission (street crimes), but didn't obtain the entire exploration extras; real life landmarks, hidden badges and film reels, and collecting the cars from the time.
I gotta tell you, after finding the hidden vintage cars...That was some serious eye-candy. If you are into restoration or you are a vintage collector you will probably turn ecstatic.
The gameplay was okay but nothing really special
The graphics were nice, but had the occasional texture pop-ins.
Last, but not least, the realistic character face imagery was awesome. The purpose was using it to decide whether a person was lying or telling the truth. Some of the reactions were hilariously overblown and gave an obvious sign of deceit, giving the game more of a "helping hand".

If you like this period or like detective games, I say make the purchase. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I'm not a fan of puzzle games anymore, but this one was pretty engaging. I never thought the personification of shapes would hook me for a couple of hours.
The music was really nice as well.
On the other hand, I am big on replay value. And this game has zero (I guess that's why I'm not into puzzle games anymore). The value is more around $5 rather than the full price of $10, in my opinion. Buy it if you are a indie/puzzle junkie.

What a dissappointment.

The only enjoyable part of the game for me was the cinematic x-ray vision of ballistics rupturing through the bodies of my enemies, THAT was cool.
However, most of the game failed to keep me challenged and entertained for the most part.
The AI was COMPLETELY asinine in every way. They were such idiots that for half the game I just bulldozed my way through without a sweat ON THE HARDEST DIFFICULTY. What made it so easy was that you are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Terminator and have unlimited regenerating health where in the first game you had to be damn careful not to be spotted--or you were a dead man. Sure, you could rambo at times in the first game but NO WHERE NEAR as much as I did in this sequel. There were some difficult moments with other snipers later in the game, who somehow knew exactly where you were and shoot you with 100% accuracy, so It was not that cat-and-mouse sort of snipefest you would expect.
Also, WHY IS THIS GAME SO DAMN LINEAR? There were a few missions that had SOME openness, but good god there was no other routes to the destination, just you going rambo to a building, rambo the baddies inside, snipe your target from the vantage point or use explosives on something, and end with more ramboing to escape. That's all the game was.

There was absolutely 0 incentive, in contrast to the first game, to be slow and quiet to reach your vantage point--THE AI WAS TOO DAMN STUPID TO RESPECT THEM THAT MUCH.
Luckily for me, I got this game for free in some weekend handout. I feel awfully bad for those that bought this full price. The first Sniper Elite does the sniping experience MUCH better than this.

Worst hit detection and servers so far in the history of Counter Strike. Not exaggerating. It's bad.

I've also never seen so many cheaters running rampant -- not only in Counter Strike, but in almost every single FPS game I play.

I thought CS GO was bad enough with its hit reg and peekers advantage, but the problems have only gotten MUCH worse.

But don't worry.... Valve will patch the game.... after maybe 20 more or so updates of added skins.

In a nutshell: It's like Die Hard... in Brazil.
The gameplay is extremely satisfying, and the graphics and optimization for the PC are excellent.
Only cons are the shortage of people on multiplayer servers and a mediocre story compared to the last two Max Payne games. Another con could be the lesser noire-style (comic book/graphic novel look), but Max still has that raspy narrative voice so I'm absolutely fine with it personally.

In my opinion, the reason multiplayer is nearly dead is because of huge sync/disconnection problems and that the multiplayer is unbalanced AS HELL. The "pros" always use a chick character, due to the fact that females have super skinny hitboxes or something.. and they always duel wield pistols because rifles are absurdly weak. My advice to you, Rockstar...for the love of God....for your legacy... learn to patch your f*cking games....and stop hating the PC playerbase, too.
