This game is a experience..... one usually only found by consuming large amounts of illicit substances. Sure you can watch the full thing on online but for 3 bucks you literally can't go wrong.

Would toss KIDS into a pit again

Even if you only like 1 table top game, I would say this is 100% worth a buy.

I bought the game for the muiltplayer, I stayed playing because of the literally fantastic story.

The gameplay and the story work perfectly together to make a compelling experience about self awarness, worth, and discovery.

I only had two issues with the game, one was I got stuck inside a house on one of the beginning levels (had to reset) and the second was that the achievements did not work at all for me.

I highly recommend the game. Very enjoyable game that doesn't need you to play the first game (which was a riot too (Figuratively and Literally; my kings head was on a pike a lot) to enjoy it.

You have to make decisions using a very tinderesque system that affects the four pillars of a healthy kingdom (Church, People, Army, Wealth). With the added bonus of a few aces up your sleeve to deal with the Story, Unexpected choice effects, Unsatisfied subjects looking to permanently retire you, and so on.

I.e. The fabled gun Gun is Love, Gun is Life.

I am not going to lie. I expected this to be a semi reskin of the first game. I think most people would.

It was a wonderful surprise to play and find out that not only were the decisions completely different (In theme, tone, and of course content) but the physical mechanics had improved, decision effects had been adjusted (that made them feel way better), a romance mechanic had been added, characters were actually memorable, and much more.

To top it all off the overarching story is way more interesting and captivating then the first game's but also not superimposing. The only issue is that the very few meta/forth wall breaking parts.... tend to follow Superhot's almost "Ultra meta" style which borders on pretentious at times.

Still, if you want to see how long you can live or how many ways you can die, you can do that.

Overall:

This game is a massive improvement while being a very competent stand alone that at 3 bucks is a actual steal.

The posters look cool! Thats not why I writting this though.


Go directly to the files location using this in a File Explorer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HardWest\Posters

If your steam folders are not in the default location:
Right click "Hard West" in your Games Library on Steam then click "Properties".
Go to the "LOCAL FILES" tab then click "BROWSE LOCAL FILES...".

This should open up a File Explorer to the location of all the game files including the posters which will be located under the aptly named "Posters" folder XD.

You spawn in the wildness by yourself.

You google the games map IRL to help get your bearings (No one has time to waste 3 hours wandering around to die to starvation, zombies, and/or dehydration).

After you triangulate your position from the land marks around you (Hopfully you spawned by the ocean/train tracks).

You set out on a journey for the closet city which happens to take ten IRL mins to get to; thats if your character is sprinting full speed.

After traveling for so long with nothing around but your thoughts and your virtual body becoming insistly more tired, hungry, and thirsty you find the city.

Stocked up on what little gear, supplies, and weapons inside the untouched city has, you set out to build a base, enjoy the scenery, find a faction or guild, find victims .

Thinking about all the terrible things you can do to your victims but really realizing you dont have any of the tools......

You promptly loss your character to:

A). A glitch of some sort

B). Lagging into a zombie or off a edge

C). The server you were playing on deleting your character



Everytime I have played I havn't been killed by players..... I have been killed by glitches or game flaws. I have 46 hours in the game yet almost all of that time spent I wasn't having fun. I spent long times sprinting to find friends or just to find a few scraps of items to have "fun" basically waiting for the game to get better but it hasn't.

I don't mind Early Access games being in Early Access for a long time . Nor do I mind them being buggy. As long as they are fun to play in their current state (or become fun) and are actually being worked on. Dayz has only one of those two things sadly and its the later one. There is not enough content to make the game fun in its current state and there isn't good enough multiplayer action/matchmaking to make the lack of content fun. Forty dollars and four years later I feel nothing but disappointment.

The game has so much potential but in its current state I cannot recommend it.

Would be highly recommended for the content if it wasn't for the fact it can become russian roulette if you will be able to play/run it.

Fantastic game with hundreds of hours of content. The story and gameplay are top notch! The DLC's are passible at best to be honest.

I was able to play the game on Windows 8 & 10 with/without mods without any issues. The big "but" to that statement is that the game is known to have issues running on newer operating systems so do not ignore the warning on the store front; it is no joke. The game has not aged well on the technical side. You may get lucky and get to play it but you may not.

Overall:

I highly recommend the game if you have a operating system before windows 7; if not I would only recommend it if you have either tested it on your computer beforehand or researched about it working on your computer.

Its a good game but can get repetitive when you're not figuring out new and interesting ways to murder your abominations.... creations.
