The stutter completely ruins immersion. We're talking stutter in the 100+ frame range. From 144fps to like 21 for a solid second and a half. This happens during combat too. Some hits are just straight up unavoidable. I really like what I've managed to play so far. But man. The stutter. I'm going to be refunding this and picking it up on PS5 where I've heard the performance is pretty much perfect. This trend of PC versions of games having an unplayable amount of stutter is abominable. I'm running a high spec PC. I shouldn't be running into these issues. But they keep happening.

There are performance issues and stuttering. Yes. It can be pretty bad at times. But that is the extent of what is bad with the game at this time. And its never been bad enough where it mattered for me to ever consider not recommending this game. There are settings you can change to reduce the stuttering, and the patch I installed this morning (Feb 26th 2022) has reduced the stutter even more. Still not perfect but better. Inside of dungeons I have not encountered any stutter.

With all that said I'm a little under 8 hours into the game and level 27. I haven't even glanced in the direction of Stormveil Castle yet. There is so much to do and explore that its insane. I've found NPC's, completed quests. Got my ass handed to me by bosses and NPC invaders. Left, got more gear. Killed more bosses. Came back and hurdled their ass right back at them. Its a feeling that I haven't even felt in any souls games. Being able to leave and come back later is amazing. If you're struggling, you can just leave, get better stuff and come back later. Horseback combat is also amazing, felt clunky at first but after messing around with it more its such a big add to the genre.

Once the stuttering gets fixed, this may be one of the best games of all time.

It might say 3 hours on steam but thats only because this is my 3rd time buying it. First on xbox, then ps4 and finally here. I will buy it again too. A full on VR mod came out early January 2022 and I can't wait to play through it again.

First off. This isn't STALKER 2. This is first and foremost a narrative led Chernobyl themed RPG. The basic structure of it is similar to Fallout 4 in that you go out into the field and on your way to your main objective, you scout around and pick up as many materials as possible to bring back to your main base and improve it with said materials. In the 2-5 hours that I've played (wound up paused for a good length of time) I'm very intrigued with the plot and am very much looking forward to how things play out. In terms of gameplay I've mostly been skulking around and not killing people because killing people lowers your mental state. You play as a former Scientist not a badass soldier. Anyhow. It's good. I like it. Tons of customization options for weapons and your base. Lots of things to manage and choices that actually matter. Probably my fave game of this year so far.

It's a good game. I still stand by the slow upload cadence mentioned in my previous review, however in retrospect even without the addition of new biomes/content Valheim has always been worth it at whatever price it's offered. Since launch we have gotten only 2 biomes in the Mistlands and the new Ashlands biome. It might not sound like a lot, and if all was perfect I'd still have preferred the remaining biomes near the edge of the world to be completed, however there is still such an abundance of content in what we have now that I sincerely look forward to further updates and seeing the world map fully filled out.
