Anytime the community comes up with a fun new strategy or finds a new weapon we can all enjoy the devs nerf it. They have been nerfing things nearly every patch which just seems crazy in a pve game. I stopped playing in June when the devs made it clear that they would rather be fun police rather than content creators. The game often feels like its a no fun allowed type game with the amount of nerfs that come with each patch. Not to mention the game is still restricted in 177 countries.

Horrific cash grab. No new features despite the astronomical increase in file size over the original. Matchmaking barley works. No cross play. Multiplayer is buggy and you are often dropped into matches that are nearly over so the average game time is like 3 minutes. I had hopes for this since Aspyr's Tomb Raider remaster was decent but this is god awful.

Multiplayer is the only reason I got this game since the removal of Gamespy all those years ago broke the OG Battlefront multiplayer functionality. No crossplay, it's super hard to play with your steam friends. You can't change controls mid game, its hard to switch from first to third person.

So many game breaking bugs exist too, I all to often find my game in a state where I can't spawn, and when I do spawn the input delay is crazy. Refunding this for now. Might get back in if/when these lazy devs fix the game.

The most realistic American Civil War sim in the store. Public games are fun and chaotic and you'll run into a lot of funny people in the game. Local VOIP is always on and it works to communicate with the opposite team which makes melee bayonet charges even more fun.

The community is solid, public games have a number of decent officers that will lead players into battle and the regimental event play community is just top tier and a great way to experience all the game has to offer.

For the price it's a great buy and is definitely capable of providing hours of multiplayer fun.

A mile wide and an inch deep doesn't do it justice. This game is ass. Every enemy is a bullet sponge, the side quests have little to no meaning for your progress other than gear, but the game just scales enemy health as you level so you don't ever really feel powerful from doing the side content. Every enemy just becomes a bullet sponge as you progress through the game.

The outpost system while cool, is a buggy mess and will crash your game and make it unplayable if you scale your planet's production too high, ruining a cool system to make money and farm xp. The vendors have little to no money on them which is ridiculous for how much ♥♥♥♥ costs. Your inventory is always so small meaning looting while doing missions is a waste.

If you just play the campaign missions, the game is very short, but you don't miss out on much by doing campaign only, all the cool systems they put in this game have no tie in with the campaign by the way so you're just left there with your thumb up your rear if you want to put time into outposts.

Space combat and exploration is pretty limited and instanced base so it sucks and doesn't feel like you're exploring anything. Eve online came out over 20 years ago and has better space exploration than this piece of trash.

Modders are dropping support for it because the game is so bad, that should tell you more than enough. Avoid this game until bethesda releases some actual good content for this game, but by then it will probably be getting the skyrim treatment and be on its 29374834762nd release on your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smart fridge or something. Piece of ♥♥♥♥ waste of time.

Can't sight in weapons for range, makes shooting AT a guessing game, not enough tracers for the amount of rapid fire infantry weapons there are, so random deaths happen constantly with no ability for your team to return accurate fire. Because deaths like this happen so frequently, everyone just gives up and respawns. The game tries for realism in some areas but completely misses the mark on the gunplay, compared to similar WW2 shooters of it's time like Post Scriptum.

Battlefield 2042 feels nice at first because it shows DICE is willing to go back to it's roots, making large scale shooter games with cool maps. I was happy to see that a campaign was ditched in this game as Battlefield campaigns have NEVER been good and the characters were always forgettable.

The game looks nice visually, it uses some of the new NVIDIA RTX and DLSS features, the large maps are nice for the increased player count. I see some people complain that the maps are too large, but with wingsuits and parachutes and always being able to call in a light vehicle for quick travel, maps being too large seems like an invalid complaint. The only Issue I have with the maps is that some spots lack cover so fights can only be taken one way and it ruins some of the dynamic breakout fights that were fun in the battlefields of before.

As of launch, the servers are utter dog water. Cross play often breaks the loading of games with some weird error that can only be fixed by disabling cross play. This is a fine solution right now while the game is popular, but as population dwindles it can create long queue times in the future. There's a ton of bugs that still remain after the official release. If you want an easy comparison of how buggy this game is, it's on par with Cyberpunk 2077 on release.

Hazard zone is garbage and was a waste of dev time. There's no progression in it other than earning consecutive extracts on your specialists(Specialists are dumb too, except for the wingsuit girl, she's dope). Weapons progress based on your account level, so a low level account won't have access to a large pool of weapons and they will have no attachments. For a game mode like this, progression trees should have been separate. As of right now I see no incentive to play hazard zone. In short, hazard zone is a dollar store bootleg version of hunt showdown and escape from tarkov.

Portal may be the current saving grace of Battlefield. If you hate all the other modes at least you can take solace in the upcoming custom games done in Portal. Just wait for some great map makers to come out with great content in there, this will be what keeps Battlefield 2042 going until hopefully we get a Battlefield 2142 remaster or Battlefield 2143.

Tl:dr Bring Back 2142 and Titan Game Mode.

Early Access Review
Hands down the best Early Access release of a survival crafting game since minecraft. In the 50+ hours I have played I have yet to encounter a bug. Servers can get a touch laggy if you have a lot of people doing things at once for too long, but a quick restart fixes it up. The crafting tier progression through the bosses is excellent, Combat feels fun and has great moments of challenging enemies. The game is great solo and even better with a group of fellow vikings. There is so much to offer, between the different biomes, boss fights, and sailing the high seas hunting sea serpents, its all great and feels fun every time. All this for 20 dollars is a great deal, I haven't had this much fun since the early minecraft days, The hype is real.

After putting many hours in this game on a couple of weekly reset servers. I can tell this game has progressed for the worst. The bugs may be gone, but the pacing of the game feels horrible, even on a 1x vanilla server it still feels too quick, and once one group finds and easy gun they can quickly control a big area of the map. Hackers run rampant, and skill is a non factor in the gun play, its simply a matter of who can spray more bullets faster.

The game has literally become Fortnite for people who think they are too mature/cool to play fortnite. Good job face punch, you took what could have been a cool survival game and turned it into a quasi survival/battle royale.

Whoever says this game is an authentic feeling WW2 game is smoking some real good stuff...This game feels like Day of Defeat if it were made by a child. Take the latest call of duty experience and put a crappy WW2 skin on it...and you have Battalion 1944. Don't believe me? Just read on...

If you don't know how to quick scope then don't even by this game. Seriously the only weapon you can get consistent frags with is a sniper and you just gotta keep quick scoping and jumping. There's no realistic recoil at all, its a game that really wants to be a cool WW2 game but they just said..."remember all that WW2 $h17? Lets make a twitch arcade shooter instead."

Playing this game is like going to senior prom, but like senior prom where you asked your older sister to go and she said no so you ended having to take your mom, except she has a peg leg and is an alcoholic so she just beats you an empty jack daniels bottle while trying to keep herself stable on her peg leg. And you can forget about having her do the electric slide with you! That b1t*ch can only do the hustle. So you go home dissapointed, decide to jump on your favorite WW2 shooter, you know the one with the guns and the fun times and the tanks, yeah you know...that one. But then what booted up was mario kart WW2 edition where the karts are the player and the mario is the sniper guy quick scoping you 4320984840921740912471 times....and then your mom comes in and beats you with a garden hose while your dad points at your nipples and laughs.

But seriously the gunplay in this game leaves much to be desired and in it's current state its not fun and not worth a buy....Maybe if it was like 5 bucks.

Finally, an Early Access game that is constantly delivering! If you love realistic tactical shooters then this game is a must for you. The best advice I can give is to join a squad and start communicating right away, teamwork is so important in this game and a hard working squad really pays off. This is easily the funnest shooter I've played this year.

The dev team is also super active on their discord and wiht the reddit community on r/joinsquad.
