The performance is just oof, I hope it will get better at some point.
My best graphics settings compromise without game looking like crap and still being playable, was 30 fps limit with motion blur with most of the settings on medium. And with that my graphics card was on 80%-95% usage anyway (depending on which way I looked, more commonly towards 95%) (And the fps wasn't always 30, and had short drops). I'm not a sadist, so the 95% GPU usage I do not consider nice. And I'm not a masochist either to play it with much crappier settings.

I recieved it as a gift from my friend, and after some playtime we refunded my copy. So the "recieved for free" thing here just means "recieved as a gift and ended up refunded". (I got it gifted again, nvm)

The idea of the game is great imo, it seems to have potential, but from what I saw, it is a little too raw right now.

Also I tried playing it through Game Pass on my Xbox Series, but for some reason the UI doesn't support controllers (ON THE XBOX) (also I had to struggle with an invisible mouse coursor). But turns out, that the xbox version is apparently an outdated version compared to the current steam release, which obviously prevented me from joining my friends. And also apparently it is some kind of game preview on the game pass, probably a time limited demo or something.

My experience was not very nice, but I hope it will get better.

I know some people are gonna comment stuff like gaming setup issue, which is sorta true, but 16 GB RAM as minimal requirements (with 32! for recommended, why?), as well as 2gb GTX 1050 for the crappy lowest possible settings - that is not a sign of an optimised enough product. Dear devs, take your time, but please, find a way to optimise your game more some time soon. <3

Update: I got this game gifted to me again and was convinced to play it more. This time I explored settings a bit more, played in a smaller window because this game can't use different resolutions in full screen mode. And while doing all that, I noticed that all my gpu memory is almost always fully used. 4gb is enough for the game to run, but it's quite limiting. With other settings and resolution I did manage to keep usage bellow 50 in "worst" scenarios like looking west, and around 30 in "best" like not looking west. lol I guess there are a lot of models in that direction that are being rendered despite being unvisible.

That is one of the worst schools to grow up in.

This is a very good VN, and it has a very relatable protagonist (especially given the fictional situation she's in, jeez), and the humour is just brilliant.

Worth the time and the money, I had a lot of fun.

Suddenly forbidding your players to play the game, just because they live in a specific country. People that used to love your game, active trove gamers, were suddenly told to go f themselves. Is this a company you want to trust not just with NOT BLOCKING ACCESS TO THE GAME BASED ON THE REGION, but with literally anything else? I personally have no trust to such companies. And if I were you, I wouldn't spend my money on this game

My friend have spent over 1800 hours on Trove many years ago, and now he can't even launch the game, even though the servers are still up, and the game is still alive. It might as well be jsut dead now (I bet it has been for a lot of previously very active players).

It truly is one of the games of all time

I wonder what DE will do on their 30 Year Anniversary next year

Why did you double the price for russian players in particular...

It's just not fun to play...
