I love Team Fortress, I just wish I could recommend it to others.
I can't; friends won't play it if I ask, and there's good reason why:

• No major content additions for years, barring weapon tweaking, summer hat drops, and seasonal map drops.
  
• An over-saturated market with tawdry cosmetics at best, and lame cosmetics at worst.
  
• A bot crisis gone illegal.
  
• A decade old game that still punishes new players with no tutorial to show them the ropes, and communication locked behind a paywall to have back and forth dialogue in game or even send voice commands.

TF2 is still dying, because Valve is ignoring it, not just because they let bots kill it for them.
