.hack//GU is a game that takes place between and after the anime series .hack//Roots, It is also linked to the first 4 games released on the PS2 back in 2002. This is a treat for fans and for newcomers to the series as it expands past the 3rd disk. You get all three games bundled opposed to buying them all seperately.

The Graphics are pretty dated but slightly enhanced for the HD remake, The game has it's own little charm but suffers from the common overly reused graphics syndrome. You will find many enemy reskins and most maps are just randomlly generated with slight alterations. Despite this, it really holds up very well. It kinda does bother me when characters are talking and the game decides to cut in for only a few seconds only to show characters doing something subtle like a hand gesture or a simple mouth movement. I don't remember if this was the case on the PS2 version as it has been a while since I have played it.

(Spoilers here)
Story is pretty interesting, simply put you are playing a game that goes skynet and puts people all around "The World" into a comatose.(Pun intended) This boi Tri-Edge slaps your girl's butt and you aren't about to take that and end up getting your face smacked to the floor so hard you go back to level 1. Later on you go on to solve the mysteries of Tri-Edge and come across best girl. Eventually you save the world from a deadly MMO that was still allowed to continue running despite the cultural backlash and almost dumping a can of whoopass all over the planet.
(End Spoilers)

The soundtrack is really good, it was composed by the same person who did the previous games and you can tell Chikayo ♥♥♥♥♥♥ has only gotten better with age.

The Combat works like this, you engage into a battle which creates a ring in which you fight enemies. The increased fps has caused some issues from its former PS2 varient in which tap weapons require a weird timing that its almost better to just use charge attacks. You will have access to 5 different weapons each with their own style of gameplay and each weapon can be used mid battle depending how you setup your skill triggers. It's pretty straight forward and the game is by no means difficult if you lose in battle it's probably only because you are underleveled as enemies damage seems to stagnate to oneshot levels otherwise.

Mechanically the game gets extremely repetitive and leveling becomes ridiculously easy, I don't by any means think its a bad game. If you are looking for a mindless game then play .hack//GU because its still quite fun. Menus are easily navigated and there is memoir section if you forget what you need to do. Party Members you want may not always be available due to how the story progresses. Armor and Weapons can be rigged to insanely overpowered levels but this has always been the case since the PS2 version. You get a little mini desktop that you can decorate and play a idle mini game called Crimson VS which plays itself as you play the game. Lots of lore and flavortext to be found on the pretend online fourms and news of the outside world of the game located in the news section.

Is this game worth playing? Yes, if you are a fan of the series otherwise find another game because you will probably be bored out of your mind.

If you don't take it too seriously then you may be able to get some enjoyment out of it. Would I reccommend this game? No and it's not even worth giving a review either.

Edit: Changed because of community guidelines, wouldn't wanna hurt the developers feelings.

In this games current state, it is a absolute mess and this is really disapointing too because to it's core it could be potentially an absolutely amazing game. I feel the devs are still working very hard to patch and iron things out. They have been very adamant on the community forums about fixing bugs. That being said this review is subject to change.

Firstly I would like to discuss difficulty, The games difficulty is a mess. It's all over the place in some cases the hardest difficulty is well suitable, In most cases the 3rd difficulty is absolutely the best eaxperience. It's challanging and keeps you on your toes without being too punishing.

However this takes a turn for the worst during later chapters where enemy HP is spiked up and battles run off too long to do enough damage to finish the fights. I feel the difficulty ramp could have been much more adjusted.

(My only critic I can give to the developer since research shows they moved from XNA to Unity is to look into Analytics plugins. If you the dev are reading this I would like to mention its a great tool and you should make use of it it will provide you a powerful way to polish your game. )

You will have the option to assemble your party to your liking and the game tells you no, you are going to do this dungeon with X,Y and Z party member and heres V too. They turn out to be a very poor combination to boot. I feel this could have been executed better.

Next I will talk about level design and some annoying quirks that I have noticed very minor but they were still an eyesore. Firstly was Placeholder NPC's and random UI misuse. There have been a few occasions that I have run into an NPC just to read "Placeholder NPC" running around keeping track of what you are working on is important in development losing track of a placeholder isn't exactly a good thing. I get the feeling it could have been a joke or intentional but it breaks the immersion. There were also a few instances where I had confused naming conventions,

"Person A", "Person B" I didn't quite understand because they didn't seem important to be given a name and it was only used once. It's like the middle point of the games development was used for testing new Classes they may have programmed in.

The next which is the sole reason this gets a thumbs down, is due to the massive amount of bugs this game has. You don't release a game in this state and just because you, the developer play through it and don't experience bugs does not mean it's going to be the same as multiple others experiencing it. Some of these seemed to be more due to lack of testing features mechanics. No pre-determined programming or planning. What I said above compliments the sole problems with the game. Judging on everything I've read I can only imagine that this games purpose served to teach the devs how to use Unity. Which is fine but extensive testing and organization skills could have highly avoided these issues.

The list of bugs are very heavy but with the benefit of doubt they again are working very hard on patching these and I hope they continue to work on this until they have smashed out every bug.

Next is the story, the story is pretty interesting and the devs did a excellent job capturing the charm of each character. I felt a yern to keep playing at every turn, if it was not for bugs completely demolishing my save file I would have probably did a full playthrough. The world feels lively and each npc is crafted with thier own problems, even unimportant npcs have a unique charm to them that very memorable. I haven't felt that way since playing Xenogears for the PS1 years ago. This was the first game to mimic that worldly feeling that I craved in RPG's that was lacking.

The pacing in the story is okay but I feel like it does rush a bit too much, theres hardly any downtime and things are always happening. I don't think this is bad thing but I do feel it can be a bit much.

The soundtrack is very charming and very excellent I really only have good things to say about it no negatives at all.

With everything said above I can only say that this game is a super mixed bag with so much potential, It's really a shame because with proper gameplay polish and being bugfree, This could have easily been one of the best games I have ever played. Now is it worth the buy? It kinda is, but you are gambling on the small team actually fixing all the issues and not just leaving to work on their next project.

Thing's are looking promising hopefully I can flip this review with a thumbs up eventually.

Vindictus is an action beat em up developed by devcat and published by Nexon. The game launched around five or so years back and has been filling with content since. The Game had small peaks in popularity but it honestly deserves much better than others let it on to be. This game is however not without faults but if you can live without them you can probably see yourself right at home with this game.

Graphical

The graphics of Vindictus are pretty nice and have aged well despite it being 2016, game is limited to directX 9.0 and textures are pretty clean. Character models are very impressive and there are a wide variety of monster models and armor sets. For a free to play game this does not disapoint.

Sound

The sound effects are pretty good but the lack of ability to turn off fanfares can be kind of annoying, the options menu does not seem to allow me to turn off or adjust the volume of the game. I had to resort to windows audio mixer but whatever.

General Gameplay

Gameplay for vindictus is very thrilling, even the lower levels you'll find yourself having loads of fun completely destroying enemies later on the challenge really picks up in the mid game. 45+ is when I started having to play more conservatively. They give you three bags I personally struggled to maintain item space with three and ended up buying bag space which costed real money. It really all depends how much you value holding onto your items.

Progression

Progression in the game has really changed from launch you wont be repeating quests anytime soon as the game will give you a smooth ride to 60+. As you level up and complete battles you will gain AP this works similar to mabinogi if you have played the game. You will spend AP to rank skills up starting from Rank F going to Rank 1. Some skills only go upto certain ranks.

Gear progession is something I can only speak from my way upto level 60, you are greeted with a ton of variety I believe this is due to the games original cap. There is a huge lacking in items to buy off the market board making your only option as to grind the bosses for the materials which really does boil down to RNG. It will probably take you a few hours to get the set you want. Players are more than willing to run too, I play on the east server and have had tons of players jump in on the fun slaughtering the boss over and over. This has made it very bareable for me.

Combat

When you begin the game you will be greeted to a character selection screen, each character has thier own traits and abilites. Characters range from fast attackers, to bursty or half magic/half melee mages. the variety has something for everyone even grapplers will feel at home. There is a very hack and slash feeling to the game. Combos are generated by left and right mouse clicks. Left being your general melee and right being your smash attack. you will perform combos based on number of left clicks combined with right click. Some combos have extra conditions.

You are given secondary weapon choices ranging from hooks to spears to bombs all used with the F key, you can only have one with you and each has its own function. Later into the game around level 40 you'll be given the ability to go either "Paladin" or "Dark knight" Each with thier own perks but both very benefiting on all characters so no choice is wrong.

Thoughts on the cash shop

The Cash shop is pretty pricey but not completely overpowering as I thought it would be, you gain some stats from cosmetics but they are only a very tiny fraction of stats that only shadows your armor. I feel like storage space prices are a bit ridiculous(13-USD) as I feel the perm bags are the correct choice over rental bags. This can be daunting and make you feel like you are limited to playing one character if you don't make a whole lot of income to shell out.(Again this is based on perspective some people are good at managing their inventory space.) There are gatcha and plenty of cosmetics to choose from if you really like the look. I feel like the armor in the game looks amazing so it really does not matter if you choose to take cosmetic or not. Again nothing overpowering but really too expensive.

Story

The story is very good for an free to play title, the characters are actually memorable and quirky I can't beleive that is actaully fun to read as you progress. The plot is nothing too special however and you'll find that aspect to be pretty dull and just plain silly as you level further. The neat characters do seem to damper outside of the starting village. I didn't have the same level of awe with the characters in the castle city as I did in the small mercenary camp. Despite this, its still mildy interesting and actually gives the gameplay meaning. It's executed very well.

Is vindictus worth playing?

I would say its worth playing, it has hours of content. Bosses are fun and engaging and all stay unuiqe into the endgame. Character progression is good and there are tons of playstyles. Story has great characters and the game can be enjoyed solo or with a group of friends. The game really has come a long way from launch. It has no fatigue system or anything that punishes people for wanting to actually play the game. It's hack and slash with a great curve of difficulty.

Should you play this? Yes, yes, absolutely yes... Free to play games are generally not this good.

Idle clicker game not really much to say about it but here is a short review to sum it up.

Ragnarok clicker is a reskin of hero clicker with some minor differences, with some logic from Raganarok Online.

If you have played RO you will notice a whole lot of this game makes no sense. The devs who decided to make an idle game based off ragnarok have.. well... never played RO.

Gameplay is pretty standard, you click to level up heroes and try to get to the highest stage possible. After 100 stages the game starts giving you manuals that can be spent to get cards or be held onto for a extra damage boost.

Every 5-10 floors after 100 you will gain random rebirths for your party to help reach higher floors. Keep in mind rebirthing does not allow to gain extra trancends for your heroes. It is based on highest floor reached.

Every now and then a poring dolls will appear. Click then, you sometimes... more often than not get emperium which can get you goodies.

Despite all of this, its still a fun idle game when you got nothing going on. I tend to leave it in the backround while i play other non steam games.

I really don't have words to express how much this game has let me down, I'm probably prepared to take a lot of bashing from die hard fans but I can't help it. I loved the games that they tried to imitate. The SNES and PS1 era were my favorite for JRPG's but I just cant reccomend playing this at full price.

Lets break this down into catagories because there were a lot of good and a lot of bad within my journey of Setsuna of Sacrifice and Snow. Obviously there might be some small spoilers so read at your own risk.

------------------------
-=-Graphics-=-
------------------------
The graphics of the game are very impressive for what they were intended for the game originally launched on the vita. I thought they were very well done. There was a nice range of colors and a world beautifully constructed in snow. What struck me odd was their choice to re-use assets, this ranges from dungeon designs to overworld layouts to even villager models and enemy recolors.

------------------------
-=-Sound-=-=-
------------------------

Music and Sound was probably one of the more enjoyable aspects for some of the game some songs were amazingly done while others were okay but tiring to hear but overall was very
impressive.

------------------------
-=-Gameplay-=-
------------------------

The gameplay is your typical oldschool JRPG, you have an overworld map and you run into enemy encounters doing battle as your progress the story.

The battle system takes place on the map and enemy encounters happen when you run into an enemy on screen. Battles go by at a decent speed most encounters can last from one double tech to a few skills which have thier own set of ranges. You learn additional abilities by selling materials of the monsters you kill. The system is set up so you can personalize your characters to a degree, some characters can't use certain skills. The system seems very abusive in terms of speed as you can get it high enough to spam the attack key ten or so times before the enemy gets to move.

You have an overworld map that is very small with plenty of areas that are practically useless. They give you an airship very close to the end of the game but there is not much to do, you can run back and get all the locked boxes or obtain evey characters final abilities, there is not much effort in doing so either. They added a strange area that takes you to what looks like a development room within that room they congratulate you for completing the game as well as giving you endirs best weapon. This makes little to no sense as they continue to give you weaker weapons for endir in the final dungeon. There is just something really lacking about the map, I feel like they planned a lot more for the game and ended up just finishing the game instead of continuing to work on it. I really didn't understand why they even gave you access to these areas if you go and visit the extra areas you will see what I mean.

The game also features choices that you progress the story with but it feels like they only change the flavor of text between you and the characters, you can be a douchemuffin in one part of the game or a sweetheart in another part. There is hardly a difference in what you choose. I think there may only be one choice in the game that matters and its no where near as important as the later choice would be.

------------------------
-=-Story-=-
------------------------
The story does have some pros and cons and part of it is the only reason I stuck around long enough to finish. The main cast of characters are the best thing this game has to offer they are all rememberable and generally well thought out.

The plot was actually very interesting at first but the story manages to topple over in the worst way imaginable near the end. Some twists were thrown here and there but its nothing you couldn't have guessed. The ending was probably my final straw. They have the audacity to give you choice in which makes absolutely no difference in what you choose at the very end. Which would have been fine if the entire game had not been throwing you choices the entire game. What I expected was not what I got, I sat there thinking why would they do this?

The slap of the face started after the final choice, you get no dialog backstory for all the rest of the characters and lots of unanswered questions and terrible outcomes. The ending did make sense but it felt so moot and made you feel so powerless and again the way the story was laid out made me think they planned on having multiple endings or different outcomes.

------------------------
-=-Conclusion-=-
------------------------
I feel like I spent full price to play what should have been a great game that ended up being mediocore in all aspects, I have never been this let down in a game. I have a hard time seeing how it gets so much praise. I was able to forgive all the problems of the game but a story falling apart the further you progress is just unforgivable.

TLDR:
Cons:
-Reused Assets "Same dungeon three times, final dungeon looks the same with a color swap","Cities","Enemy Recolors","Overworld map assets."
-Feels unfinished "Areas that look really unused, development ending room that looks thrown in."
-Abusively easy battle system "Could have made it more simple, it would have been more challenging."
-Useless story Options "Only one choice seems to have an actual function on the story."
-Very poor conclusion "#1 reason for thumbs down."

Pros:
-Great Characters "Literally they are the best thing it has."
-Decent Soundtrack " About half the soundtrack is pretty good."

The direct port from the remastered HD version that was released on the PS3/PS4 contains all the bonus content from the international edition/jp. Has some quality of life enhancements to speed up your playthrough and make it less of a drag.

The story is a love drama set in a peril world devestated by a godly being as you go on a neverending journey to find yourself and help a young girl complete her pilgrimage to defeat said being. I can't really go any further without severly spoiling anything. With this being said I will warn you that this game is extremely cheesy in that sense. One thing that it really maintains is, great characters they really pop out and make you feel like they are real.

The Gameplay is turn based JRPG, Turns can be manipulated by the moves you make you have the ability to delay enemy moves or speed up your own turns of you and your party members. Exploration is pretty much linear for about 75% of the game where it opens up at the last 25%. There seems to be a lot to do in the endgame by submerging yourself into it you will pretty much forget the final boss exists, since by then you'll be able to probably 2~3 shot it. Have played it on the PS2 and have played it on the remaster I personally feel selecting the Expert Spheregrid makes the game way easier as it gives you early access to some really powerful skills since the board feels more open, you have less stats but this game was designed in a way that it can be beaten without the sphere grid at all.

I have really mixed feelings on this game after playing it 3 times once in my childhood later on the PS3 and again on the PC. The story is hard to take seriously, the combat is pretty fun, amazing characters, poor minigames, open world opens way too late into the game. Lack of JP audiotrack if you were looking for something different but there are some devoted modders who put it back in.

Even though I can't sum up how I feel about it anymore. I would still suggest playing it. Lots of people love it for many good reasons, it's a classic that aged very well from the PS2 enough to move across consoles. You may enjoy it way more than I have.

A great wizard once said " Never fart on another man's balls"

This game is basically a 10 hour long Southpark episode pack full of memorable eastereggs and whacky gameplay. The exploration of southpark is pretty fun you will spend a good 30 minutes of the game looking for neat little things.

Story is pretty hilarious but I feel that it drags it feet somewhat of the way to come to it's conclusion.

Combat is pretty Jrpgish with a system where you do timed button inputs to block or dish out damage. Status effects seem to be way too strong. I suggest playing on hardest difficulty if you are looking for a challange. You have the ability to avoid fights by interacting with the world, in fact you are given exp and items for being clever which is very well thought out.

Probably the best part of this game is how it well everything plays in motion during the cutscenes, you'll forget you are even playing a game at some points. All I can really say about this is enjoy the ride. This is a must play for any fan of Southpark.

This game is pretty much a tactical turn based roguelike, really great co-op and really well thought out I could play this for hours if the friends who owned it were on more. It's not really fun playing solo and if you go online with randoms they tend to just spam open doors intentionally to wipe. I will write a more detailed review when I clock over 200 hours but for now I would have to say it's a very good buy with friends.

The framerate issue has been vastly improved with this port, NPC's are still derpy and stupid. Bosses are very fun. Combat is very fun. You will find yourself exploring to find chests. Best to play this game blind. The ending is comadic gold and worse than what you would see in fan fiction. Still fun to play despite how plain silly the game is.
